Video: President Obama Bows Down to the King of Saudi Arabia – Refrains From Chanting Drill Baby Drill

    Obama-bows-down
Presient Obama is duringseen bowing down to the Saudi King during the G-20 Economic Summit

First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama breached protocol by touching Queen Elizabeth’s back, but the President has it right by bowing down to the sellers of America’s oil upon which it is dependent.

    Here is the video:

President Obama bows down to the Saudi King around 0:50 in the above video

Want to bet the President did NOT say “Drill Baby Drill?”

But, then again, in this flashback to President Bush, this is not the first time a President and Saudi King have gotten intimate.

    Update:

Here is another view of the bow:

And, according to protocol, American Presidents do not bow to foreign monarchs.

Rush Limbaugh and Leaving New York

Jon Stewart yesterday on The Daily Show

Rush Limbaugh says he is leaving New York due to excess taxation.

Conservative standard bearer Rush Limbaugh told his radio audience that if Governor David Paterson’s new budget passes, he’ll move his show out of New York.

He told listeners, “I don’t know what the breaking point is … when people leave, I’m leaving … I’ll sell my condominium, I’ll sell my apartment. I’m going to get out of there totally. This is just absurd.”

Limbaugh is just one of many New Yorkers angry about the Governor’s weekend proposal to hike taxes for those making more than $250,000. The controversial talking head, who came clean about an addiction to pain killers in October 2003, is well in tune to his reputation in the Big Apple.

“New York is probably going to celebrate that I’m not going to come back … They hate me, so they’re happy I’m not coming back,” he said on his radio show. “They’re going to praise Paterson for driving me out, even though I am rarely there anyway.”

Limbaugh quoted a statement made by Mayor Bloomberg years ago saying that, “there are 40-50,000 taxpayers in this city of 8 million that pay so much tax they essentially support the city. If even 5,000 of them leave because of the tax hikes, there’ll be a big problem.”

This is certainly Limbaugh’s perogative and the fact that New York Governor is being reported to have said that if he knew that Rush would leave the state then he would have raised taxes earlier certainly cannot be settling for high income New York earners.

Besides left-wing comedian Jon Stewart can pay his fair share instead.

Poll Watch: 61 Per Cent of American Adults Say They Are Confident that Online and Other News Sources Can Replace Newspapers

    stop-the-presses

Don’t think some of the newspapers that are declaring bankruptcy will EVER make it back.

The King is Dead, Long Live the King.

This is the finding that struggling daily newspapers don’t want to hear: 61% of American adults are confident that online and other news sources will make up the difference and report things people want to know about if many newspapers go out of business.

But the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 35% still lack confidence in other news sources to make up the difference.

Thirty percent (30%) are now Very Confident that sources other than newspapers will provide the news they want, while only eight percent (8%) are not at all confident of that.

This data comes just a month after a survey found Americans find the reliability of online news sources comparable to that in their local print newspaper.

The newspaper and media stocks should now be considered toxic assets. But, you know, the LEFT is trying to bail them out.

    How stupid is that?

Poll Watch: Senator Chris Dodd Falls Way Behind Chris Simmons in 2010 Senate Race

    rob simmons

Former Rep. Rob Simmons (R) is challenging Sen. Chris Dodd (D)

Incumbent, long time Connecticut Democrat Senator Chris Dodd is behind by 16 points to Republican Rob Simmons in the latest Quinnipiac poll.

A new Quinnipiac poll shows Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT) now trailing former Rep. Rob Simmons (R-CT), 50% to 34%, in the 2010 Senate race.

In two other match ups, Dodd trails both Sam Caligiuri (R), 41% to 37%, and loses to Tom Foley (R), 43% to 35%.

Key finding: Voters disapprove 58% to 33% of the job the Democratic incumbent is doing, his lowest approval rating ever.

Said pollster Douglas Schwartz: “A 33% job approval is unheard of for a 30-year incumbent, especially a Democrat in a blue state… Dodd’s numbers among Democrats are especially devastating.”

Exit questions: Will the Connecticut Democrat Party force Chris Dodd out before primary season? Ned Lamont?

New Hampshire Dentist Sends Tea to Protest Washington Bailouts – Representative Carol Shea-Porter’s Office Evacuated

    carol Shea-Porter

Representative Carol Shea-Porter, D- New Hampshire

In an OOPS moment by an overreacting Congressional staff, a New Hampshire Dentist’s protest turns into more than a TEMPEST IN A TEAPOT.

All Michael Yannetti wanted to do Monday was to protest the notion of Washington bailouts and $3.6 trillion in federal spending. So he did what thousands did across the country this week: mailed tea to their congressional representatives in protest.

Yesterday, police showed up at his door.

The green tea he had mailed to the Manchester office of Rep. Carol Shea-Porter prompted the evacuation of her office yesterday. Police and firefighters were at the downtown location for about 1 1/2 hours, securing the scene and conducting field tests for possible hazardous substances or volatile compounds.

“Really, I didn’t think it was a big deal,” said Yannetti, a dentist who lives in Pelham. “As far as I know, this was a mainstream thing.”
Fox News has reported about the tea protests for weeks, he said. And Yannetti received an e-mail that designated Wednesday as the day to send tea to your congressman, he said. He put the tea in an envelope with his name and return address and wrote “tea protest” on the outside, he said.

I guess you cannot be too careful these days but obviously somebody on Shea-Porter’s staff overreacted and wasted a whole bunch of taxpayer money.

These Congressional offices in their home states and the United States Capitol had better develop a protocol because with the unhappiness with Congress and the Obama Administration, they will receive many more such TEA PARTY protest letters as April 15 approaches.

Treasury Secretary Geithner Does NOT Rule Out Replacing More CEOs – Meanwhile Unemployment SOARS

    geithner-and-ceos

First it was General Motor’s CEO Rick Waggoner who resigned at the behest of President Obama and now MORE CEOs may go according to Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner.

Days after GM’s CEO Rick Wagoner was forced out by the Obama administration, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner left open the possibility that such moves could happen again.

In an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric, Geithner acknowledged the government has had to do “exceptional things” – citing AIG as well as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

“We have changed management aboard,” he said. “And where we’ve done that, we’ve done it because we thought that was necessary to make sure these institutions emerge stronger in the future.”

The federal government should just stop monkeying around with the private business sector. If the business is failing get out of the way and let it fail.

Don’t bail out the business and then micromanage it from the Treasury Department.

Obama and the Democrats in Congress have failed to stem unemployment since the iunauguration with their tax and spend policies. What makes anyone think they can run the automotive industry or any business sector?

The number of people filing initial claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly rose last week, while those filing continuing claims hit an all-time high for the 10th straight week, according to a government report released Thursday.

In the week ended March 28, 669,000 people filed initial jobless claims, up 12,000 from the previous week’s upwardly revised figure of 657,000, the Labor Department reported.

It was the largest weekly increase since October 1982, and it surprised economists surveyed by Briefing.com, who had forecast initial claims to decline to 650,000.

The number of people continuing to file for jobless benefits rose 161,000 to 5.7 million in the week ended March 21, the latest week for which data was available. It was the highest number since the government began keeping records in 1967, and the 10th consecutive week that continuing claims rose to a record high.

This move by Geithner and Obama is unprecedented and should be stopped cold by the Congress by a rejection of Obama’s budget.

    • More than 1,000 retired military officers, including several who were top commanders, are urging President Barack Obama and Congress to maintain the law that bars gays from serving openly in the armed forces.

Obama is consulting with the Pentagon on the issue and says he supports eventual repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy, which prohibits gays in the military from being open about their sexual orientation. A bill that would allow gays to serve openly has been introduced in Congress.

A statement issued by the retired officers Tuesday said passage of that bill "would undermine recruiting and retention, impact leadership at all levels, have adverse effects on the willingness of parents who lend their sons and daughters to military service, and eventually break the All-Volunteer Force."

    • One of President Barack Obama's campaign pledges on taxes went up in puffs of smoke Wednesday.

The largest increase in tobacco taxes took effect despite Obama's promise not to raise taxes of any kind on families earning under $250,000 or individuals under $200,000.

This is one tax that disproportionately affects the poor, who are more likely to smoke than the rich.

To be sure, Obama's tax promises in last year's campaign were most often made in the context of income taxes. Not always.

The issue of her immigration status flared three days before Obama was elected the first African-American president in the November 4, 2008 election. His late father was from Kenya and his white mother, also deceased, was American.

Zeituni Onyango, 56, whom Obama calls "Auntie Zeituni" in one of his memoirs, has been living in a public housing complex in Boston and is the half-sister of Obama's father.

"The decision as to Ms. Onyango's request to stay permanently in the U.S. will be made during a second hearing," Michael Rogers, a spokesman for Onyango's lawyer, Margaret

A spokesman in Pelosi's office confirmed the Speaker's Director of New Media sent an email to Democratic press secretaries warning them that TMZ is sniffing around the Hill, asking congressmen about Twittering.

According to The Political Machine, the email reads, "Yesterday, TMZ stalked out members … and asked them about their use of Twitter. Please be aware that they may continue to do so."

The email explains Twitter is banned from the Senate floor, but permitted on the House floor. We're guessing this is a painfully obvious talking point for morons.

    • Venture capitalist Scott Murphy (D) will win the special election in New York's 20th district by 210 votes after all outstanding absentee and military ballots are counted, according to projections made by Democratic Party officials and obtained by the Fix.

The projections — based off of the county performances by Murphy and state Assemblyman Jim Tedisco (R) on election night — show the Democrat gaining 115 votes in Warren County, 96 votes in Columbia County and 70 votes in Washington County as well as scoring smaller gains in several other counties. Tedisco's only major gain, according to the model, will be in Saratoga County where he will net an additional 116 votes.

The Democratic projection puts the total number of absentee and military ballots at 5,584 with Murphy winning 2,864 and Tedisco taking 2,720. On election night, Murphy held a 65-vote lead — 77,344 to 77,279.

    • Don't worry, we don't have another litigated election — not yet, anyway. The absentee ballots, some of which are not due until April 13, will decide the race for New York's 20th Congressional District between Scott Murphy (D) and Jim Tedisco (R).

After a count of yesterday's in-person votes, Murphy leads by 65. But the absentees already returned and currently awaiting a count lean Republican in party identification. I asked around this morning, and here is the party breakdown I received of the ballots already returned as of Monday:

      Democrat: 2,105

      Republican: 2,863

      Other: 904

"Other" includes not just independents, but also members of the Independence, Conservative and Working Families parties.

In addition to these, there are 271 overseas military and federal write-in ballots returned so far, and based on the number issued, as many as 1,600 more could be returned in the next two weeks.

    • Jim Tedisco is closing the gap, his people say, and the Asembly minority leader now trails by 25 votes.

I was on the phone with aide Bill Sherman, when I heard cheers coming from behind him at the Republican State Committee headquarters on State Street. People involved with Tedisco's congressional bid have gathered there.

"Somebody had the wrong number in Columbia County when they gave the number over the phone last night," he said. The new latest tally for the county is 6,560 for Tedisco; 8,449 for Democrat Scott Murphy.

The new overall tally, according to Sherman, is 77,217 for Murphy and 77,192 for Tedisco.

    • They're still coming in, but Republicans say they have reason to be optimistic about absentee ballots in the 20th District congressional race.

"The Republicans I talked with last night felt very confident about the composition of those absentee ballots," said Robert Turner, a political science professor at Skidmore College. "Most are from Saratoga, where Tedisco ran well. There is also the perception that the snowbirds are disproportionately Republican, as are the military ballots."

Last night at his campaign wrap party, Tedisco aide Bill Sherman said that of the 5,907 ballots that had been received, there were 798 more from enrolled Republicans than Democrats.
