Eminem – “We Made You”

Flap wonders if progressive Republican and ELECTION LIAR Meghan will be having Eminem do a fundraiser for her father Senator John McCain who now has a GOP primary challenger?

Okay, I had wanted to stay away from further focus on the Twitter exploits of Meghan McCain, the daughter of the 2008 presidential candidate. But sometimes you just can’t tear your eyes away.

The latest Tweet from McCain: “I used to have the hugest crush on Eminem when I was in high school and he still looks hot in his new music video!!”

This would be, presumably, the music video in which Eminem depicts himself having sex with Sarah Palin.

Wonder if Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will do one?

3462940551 37d203288d Poll Watch: 11 Per Cent Favor States Seceding from the United States
The last time states seceded from the Union(over the issue of slavery) it resulted in the American Civil War

Frankly, I am surprised that eleven per cent favor secession from the Union.
Eleven percent (11%) of Americans say they would vote for their state to secede from the United States and form an independent country, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Eighty-three percent (83%) say they’d vote to keep their state in the United States, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

Only 22% of adults believe individual states have the right to leave the union to form an independent country if they wish to. Sixty percent (60%) say states do not have that right, and 18% are not sure.

Texas Governor Rick Perry, in a response to a reporter’s question at a “tea party” protest rally last Wednesday, said, “We’ve got a great union. There’s absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that? But Texas is a very unique place, and we’re a pretty independent lot to boot.”

That independence is clear from the slightly higher levels of support for secession among Texans. In a separate survey, 31% of Texas voters say that their state has the right to secede from the United States. However, just 18% would vote to secede, while 75% favor staying a part of the United States.

The notion of secession is absolute nonsense. Remember what Benjamin Franklin said in the Continental Congress just before signing the Declaration of Indpdependence:

“We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately.”

The United States derives its strength from its unity of its deiverse parts. In a dangerous world, Americans would be foolish to EVEN consider secession.

Star Trek 11 Latest Trailer

Guess Flap better make some plans for May 8th when JJ Abram’s new Star Trek movie hits the cinemas.

The initial reviews are in:

The Hollywood Reporter gushes that “all the familiar characters are instantly identifiable,” while the U.K.’s Daily Mail says Chris Pine plays Kirk with “real dash and charisma.” But the film’s not just for geeks who’ve already drunk the Romulan ale.

And The Daily Mail says the film is “not only by far the best of the 11 Star Trek movies, it must rank as the outstanding prequel of all time.”

That’s breathy praise from prose that is, at times, a bit vague. But among the plot points and character details revealed are:

1. The film begins with the birth of Kirk and follows he and Spock in parallel as they mature.

2. The plot “centres on the initial dislike and rivalry, followed by respect and friendship” between the duo.

3. Eric Bana is no Ricardo Montalban. His Romulan baddie “hardly has anything to do and certainly doesn’t have any depth or sophistication of motivation.”

4. “Whole scenes are, perhaps unsurprisingly, stolen by Simon Pegg as Scotty”

5. Time travel plays a huge role in the film. (Sounds like JJ Abrams, to me.)

These last three points come from Slashfilm.com, which has an elliptical (but more considered) take on the film. Enjoy.

Hummmmmm wonder if the wife is up for a midnight stake out at Universal City Walk on May 8th?

3462866112 9f5ca907e6 o Fat People Causing Global Warming?

Originally, I thought this was from the increased flatulance caused by the obese or moderately fat folks but the wife put me straight saying that people on diets make more gas because they eat more fiber.

Go figure.

But, this piece has to be suspect or is it?: THE rising number of fat people was yesterday blamed for global warming.

Scientists warned that the increase in big-eaters means more food production — a major cause of CO2 gas emissions warming the planet.

Overweight people are also more likely to drive, adding to environmental damage.

I can see moderating one’s diet for health and exercising to prevent obesity. We want a health human population

But, this other stuff seems to be pop culture nutter stuff.

Funny though…….

  • Cut a latte or two out of your annual budget and you've just done as much belt-tightening as President Barack Obama asked of his Cabinet on Monday.

The thrifty measures Obama ordered for federal agencies are the equivalent of asking a family that spends $60,000 in a year to save $6.

Obama made his push for frugality the subject of his first Cabinet meeting, ensuring it would command the capital's attention. It also set off outbursts of mental math and scribbled calculations as political friend and foe tried to figure out its impact.

    The bottom line: Not much.

  • Meghan McCain said Tuesday that she voted for Vice President Al Gore in the 2000 presidential race. But McCain, who was born in 1984, was too young to vote in that race.

McCain said on Fox News that she cast ballots for Gore in 2000 and Sen. John Kerry in the 2004 because of ill will toward President Bush, who defeated her father, John McCain, for the 2000 GOP presidential nomination. McCain dropped out that year after losing the South Carolina primary. His allies have the loss on rumors that he had a fathered a child out of wedlock and that his wife was a drug addict.

  • "MSNBC News Live" host Contessa Brewer on Monday speculated as to whether the liberal-leaning Meghan McCain could become "the voice of the Republican Party." Brewer, who was talking to Washington Times reporter Christina Bellantoni about the daughter of the 2008 GOP presidential nominee, ignored the fact that Ms. McCain has admitted she supported Democrats John Kerry in 2004 and Al Gore in 2000.
  • Remember when Republicans were worried about whether new RNC chairman Michael Steele could be an effective fundraiser, or whether his controversial comments would hurt the party's finances?

Month by month, that looks like an increasingly overblown concern.

In January, Steele's first month, the party collected $5.8 million. In February, $5.1 million. Last month, $6.7 million. Including $7 million transferred to the RNC by the McCain-Palin campaign, the committee raised $25.3 million in the first quarter.

  • Rep. Jane Harman , the California Democrat with a longtime involvement in intelligence issues, was overheard on an NSA wiretap telling a suspected Israeli agent that she would lobby the Justice Department to reduce espionage-related charges against two officials of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the most powerful pro-Israel organization in Washington.

Harman was recorded saying she would “waddle into” the AIPAC case “if you think it’ll make a difference,” according to two former senior national security officials familiar with the NSA transcript.

  • British delegates joined a dramatic diplomatic walkout today when President Ahmadinejad of Iran told a major UN conference against racism that the state of Israel had been founded "on the pretext of Jewish suffering" during the Second World War.

Around 20 delegates, including envoys from the UK, France, Canada and Finland stood up and left the room at what was considered an anti-Semitic remark by the Iranian leader, who has repeatedly called for Israel to be wiped off the map.

  • Steve Schmidt says the problem with the GOP is too many religious voters.

Funny this is the Democrats' view too.

Democrats are engaged in a highly sophisticated outreach strategy with the same basic message point: the GOP is not the natural home for religious people. Prolife Catholics can support Obama. The public things you see are only a small part of the money being flooded into penetrating religious peoples' intellectual networks to reduce effective opposition to sexual liberalism by disaffiliating their leaders from either the GOP or from their traditional stands on morality (cf. Rick Warren).

This is the Democrats’ carrot to religious people. They also are developing an increasingly big stick: After gay marriage, the most religiously committed Americans will be effectively marginalized as a public force—because they cannot act or support the idea that gay unions are marriages.
