Mitt Romney Establishing His Primary Residence in New Hampshire?

There’s a Bore in the Woods” A Mitt Romney Parody

Flap said before that former Massachusett’s Governor and 2008 GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney would be moving his primary residence to California should he wish to continue his Presidential ambitions.

Well, Mitt did purchase a residence in the San Diego area.

Romney is also maintaining a new home in the San Diego area, where his second eldest son, Matt, lives with his wife and four children; and his wife, Ann, enjoys the warm weather and riding, which is therapeutic for her multiple sclerosis, diagnosed in 1998. She is also recovering from a pre-invasive condition of breast cancer that was treated in December 2008.

But, Mitt has not been very active/visible in California politics and refrained from running for either the United States Senate or for California Governor. Instead, he is supporting his former employee, Meg Whitman to replace Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Now, there is this about Romney changing his primary residence to New Hampshire,, the site of the first in the nation Presidential primary in 2012.

But sources familiar with Romney’s activities say the Republican, whose 2008 presidential campaign fizzled, intends to make his primary residence at the family vacation home in Wolfeboro, NH, which is also a favorite vacation spot of Romney’s children and grandchildren.

Establishing residency in NH could raise expectations for Romney’s performance in the state’s 2012 primary, but the state is also flush with important contests in the upcoming 2010 midterm elections, where Romney could lend a hand. First and foremost for Republicans, NH will host a critical Senate race to replace retiring Sen. Judd Gregg (R). At this point in the cycle, Democratic Rep. Paul Hodes is the only announced candidate, and with recent trends in the state, the seat is a top target for Democratic pick up. What’s more, Romney’s Wolfeboro home is in the 1st Congressional District, represented by Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter, who is likely to face a strong Republican challenge by Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta. In both races Romney’s help–and even his vote–could matter.

I don’t think a final decision has been made but New Hampshire is a logical choice since he was Governor of neighboring Massachusetts. However, there are all of those closed GOP primary delegates in California.

In any case, it looks like Romney is preparing for another run for the White House in 2012.

Arlen Specter: But, But, Harry Reid Promised Me Seniority

    Obama Specter

Veteran Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania discusses his conversion to the Democratic Party at the White House with President Barack Obama, left, in Washington, Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Well, Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and your new Democrat Caucus friends screwed you, Arlen.

You will not be able to argue you that by re-electing you in 2010 that the voters of Pennsylvania will be getting a Senator with seniority. At best you will get a vote.

“Senator Reid assured me that I would keep my committee assignments and that I would have the same seniority as if I had been elected as a Democrat in 1980. It was understood that the issue of subcommittee chairmanships would not be decided until after the 2010 election. Some members of the caucus have raised concerns about my seniority, so the caucus will vote on my seniority at the same time subcommittee chairmanships are confirmed after the 2010 election. I am confident my seniority will be maintained under the arrangement I worked out with Senator Reid. I am eager to continue my work with my colleagues on the various committees on which I serve and will continue to be a staunch and effective advocate for Pennsylvania’s and the Nation’s priorities.”

No respect for the traitor and Specter will likely draw a Democrat opponent in a primary election from the NUTROOTS.

    Sucker……

Colin Powell Lectures GOP – Return to Center Because Americans Want MORE Government and Taxes

    colin_powell and bloomberg

Mayor Michael Bloomberg, left, joins former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell in Washington for President Barack Obama’s $5.7 billion national service bill signing, Tuesday, April 21, 2009. The bill triples the size of the AmeriCorps service program over the next eight years and expands ways for students to earn money for college by helping those in their neighborhoods

Former Bush Secretary of State Colin Powell who endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for President is now lecturing the Republican Party on its future.

The Republican Party is in big trouble and needs to find a way to move back to the middle of the country, former Secretary of State Colin Powell said Monday.

Powell said the GOP is “getting smaller and smaller” and “that’s not good for the nation.” He also said he hopes that emerging GOP leaders, such as House Minority Whip Cantor, will not keep repeating mantras of the far right.

“The Republican Party is in deep trouble,” Powell told corporate security executives at a conference in Washington sponsored by Fortify Software Inc. The party must realize that the country has changed, he said. “Americans do want to pay taxes for services,” he said. “Americans are looking for more government in their life, not less.”

Powell, secretary of State during the first term of former President George W. Bush, made waves last year when he came out for the Democratic presidential candidate, then-Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois. Powell described the 2008 GOP candidate, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, as “a beloved friend” but said he told him last summer that the party had developed a reputation for being mean-spirited and driven more by social conservatism than the economic problems that Americans faced.

Powell also criticized other GOP leaders, for bowing too much to the right.

    Wrong.

Obviously, Powell who has never been a conservative cannot even read the polls.

Why doesn’t Powell, who was fired by President Bush and replaced by Condi Rice, re-register and end his misery with the GOP?

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger Says it is “Time for Debate” on Legal Marijuana

Arnold Schwarzenegger before his political days smoking a joint

At least Arnold is consistent albeit wrong on the issue.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Tuesday it’s time for California to study whether to legalize and tax marijuana for recreational use, though he’s not yet advocating for such a change.

The governor was asked about a recent Field Poll showing that 56 percent of registered voters support legalizing and taxing marijuana to raise revenues for cash-strapped California. Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, D-San Francisco, has proposed legislation that would legalize the drug for recreational use, rather than just medical purposes.

“Well, I think it’s not time for that, but I think it’s time for a debate,” Schwarzenegger said. “I think all of those ideas of creating extra revenues, I’m always for an open debate on it. And I think we ought to study very carefully what other countries are doing that have legalized marijuana and other drugs, what effect did it have on those countries?”

He said his native Austria is revisiting some of its marijuana laws, for instance. The Austrian Parliament last year authorized cultivation of medical marijuana.

“It could very well be that everyone is happy with that decision and then we could move to that,” Schwarzenegger said of other nations’ legalization policies. “If not, we shouldn’t do it. But just because of raising revenues … we have to be careful not to make mistakes at the same time.
Schwarzenegger previously has shown a casual attitude toward marijuana. He was filmed smoking a joint in the 1977 film, “Pumping Iron.” And he told the British version of GQ in 2007, “That is not a drug. It’s a leaf.” Spokesman Aaron McLear downplayed the governor’s comment as a joke at the time.

For all intents and purposes, medical marijuana has already legalized “POT” in California. It takes very little effort to get “legal” marijuana in this state.

All Arnold is interested in is to increase state revenues through marijuana taxes to bail out his disasterous overspending budgets.

Mike Pence Hedges on Evolution and Looks Like a Fool

Indiana GOP Congressman Mike Pence on Hardball with Chris Matthews

Why is Mike Pence dodging questions on evolution, creation and then spins to Global Warming?

Pence comes off as a typical POL with no clear views on the issues because he does not wish to offend any of his constituencies and Matthews makes a FOOL of him.

Is there any wonder why American voters are leaving both Democrat and Republican Parties, becoming independents and upset about their government?

Work on your beliefs and then your message, Congressman.

Former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge Would Have to Move Official Residence Back to Pennsylvania

So, does anyone think this is a disqualifier for the former Pennsylvnia Governor, Tom Ridge to take on U.S. Senator Arlen Specter?

Political Wire has learned that former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge (R) listed his residence as Chevy Chase, MD on a recent foreign agents registration filing with the U. S. Department of Justice. He reported he was representing the Government of Albania.

    No…..well, maybe…….

Specter’s age, switch of political parties, lack of Senate seniority and votes on spending will do more to harm his candidacy.

But, Pat Toomey, on the other hand, could beat Ridge over the head with it in a contentious GOP primary.

Tom Ridge has said he will decide on whether to run in two weeks.

    Stay tuned…….

    • An internal Justice Department inquiry into the conduct of Bush administration lawyers who wrote secret memorandums authorizing brutal interrogations has concluded that the authors committed serious lapses of judgment but should not be criminally prosecuted, according to government officials briefed on a draft of the findings.
The report by the Office of Professional Responsibility, an internal ethics unit within the Justice Department, is also likely to ask that state bar associations consider possible disciplinary action, including reprimands or even disbarment, for some of the lawyers involved in writing the legal opinions, the officials said.

The conclusions of the 220-page draft report are not final and have not yet been approved by Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. The officials said it is possible the final report might be subject to revision, but they did not expect major alterations in its main findings or recommendations.

    • The political whirlwind that surrounded Sen. Arlen Specter ’s switch from the Republican to Democratic party had him forgetting which team he is rooting for in 2010.

But after voicing support for Republican Norm Coleman in his contested Minnesota Senate race, Specter said he misspoke in a New York Times magazine interview and is supporting Democrats.

    • The Senate dealt a blow tonight to Sen. Arlen Specter's hold on seniority in several key committees, a week after the Pennsylvanian's party switch placed Democrats on the precipice of a 60-seat majority.

In a unanimous voice vote, the Senate approved a resolution that added Specter to the Democratic side of the dais on the five committees on which he serves, an expected move that gives Democrats larger margins on key panels such as Judiciary and Appropriations.

But Democrats placed Specter in one of the two most junior slots on each of the five committees for the remainder of this Congress, which goes through December 2010. Democrats have suggested that they will consider revisiting Specter's seniority claim at the committee level only after the midterm elections next year.

    • Former Pennsylvania governor Tom Ridge (R) is seriously considering a 2010 bid for the Senate seat held by Republican-turned-Democrat Arlen Specter and will make his decision in the next two weeks, according to several sources familiar with his thinking.
    • California's increasingly severe and largely self-inflicted economic crisis will deepen on May 19 if, as is probable and desirable, voters reject most of the ballot measures that were drafted as part of a "solution" to the state's budget deficit. They would make matters worse.

National economic revival is being impeded because one-eighth of the nation's population lives in a state that is driving itself into permanent stagnation.

California's perennial boast —that it's the incubator of America's future—now has an increasingly dark urgency.

Under Arnold Schwarzenegger, the best governor the states contiguous to California have ever had, people and businesses have been relocating in those states.
For four straight years, more Americans have moved out of California than have moved in. California's business costs are more than 20% higher than the average state's. In the last decade, net out-migration of Americans has been 1.4 million.

    • All in all, it would be surprising were Democrats to make substantial inroads in California congressional races next year. Any big change is more likely to hinge on the next round of congressional redistricting by the Legislature, and its tenor will depend on whether Republicans retain the governorship in 2010 or it passes back to Democrats.
    • Yet last year, Murtech received $4 million in Pentagon work, all of it without competition, for a variety of warehousing and engineering services. With its long corridor of sparsely occupied offices and an unmanned reception area, Murtech's most striking feature is its owner — Robert C. Murtha Jr., 49. He is the nephew of Rep. John P. Murtha, the Pennsylvania Democrat who has significant sway over the Defense Department's spending as chairman of the House Appropriations defense subcommittee.
    • Former state House Speaker Marco Rubio (R) will run for the open seat being vacated by Sen. Mel Martinez (R), setting up a near-certain primary fight with popular Gov. Charlie Crist next year.

"I want to serve in the United States Senate because I believe that our country is at the proverbial crossroads and that our future will depend on which path we choose," Rubio says in a video announcing his intentions set to be formally released at 10 am. "This campaign isn't going to be a campaign against anyone, nor will it be a campaign against anything."

Rubio, a protege of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, has been contemplating a bid for months — a calculation complicated by Crist whose interest in the race has grown considerably since Martinez announced his retirement.
