Poll Watch: GOP – Don’t Block Judge Sonia Sotomayor Nomination to U.S. Supreme Court

President Barack Obama announces federal appeals court judge Sonia Sotomayor, right, as his nominee for the Supreme Court, Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in an East Room ceremony of the White House in Washington

This is what a poll of Democrat and Republican Insiders has concluded.

The Question:

Would it be politically smart for Republicans to try to block the confirmation of Judge Sonia sotomayor?

Democrat Political Insiders:

  • Yes – 8%
  • No – 89%
  • Depends – 3%

Republican Insiders:

  • Yes – 24%
  • No – 64%
  • Depends – 12%

Flap says it depends.

Let the confirmation process roll along and examine her record and background. As one political insider noted, Americans did not know Timothy Geithner was a “tax cheat” until well after he was nominated.

So, the Senate Republicans should NOT call names and obstruct. But, should be prepared to ask the RIGHT questions and investigate her background and judicial opinions.

I truly think Rush, Newt, and all the right wing nuts who are just imposing their fears of them truly being the new minority is affecting their rationalizing and compassion. Do they think Sotomayor will do what the law through white rule has done for hundreds of years to minorities and their rights and completely ignoring their plea for justice.
