Iran has test fired a new ballistic missile, Sajjil-2, with a range of 1200 miles, far enough to hit Israel and southeastern Europe
Iran has tested a new missle today with a range that threatens Israel.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran test-fired a new advanced missile Wednesday with a range of about 1,200 miles, far enough to strike Israel, southeastern Europe and U.S. bases in the Middle East.
The announcement will not reassure the U.S. government, coming just two days after President Barack Obama declared a readiness to seek deeper international sanctions against Iran if it shunned U.S. attempts to open negotiations on its nuclear program. Obama said he expected a positive response to his outreach for opening a dialogue with Iran by the end of the year.
“Defense Minister (Mostafa Mohammad Najjar) has informed me that the Sajjil-2 missile, which has very advanced technology, was launched from Semnan and it landed precisely on the target,” state radio quoted Ahmadinejad as saying. He spoke during a visit to the city of Semnan, 125 miles east of the capital Tehran, where Iran’s space program is centered.
Ahmadinejad is running for re-election in a June 12 vote and has been criticized by his opponents and others for antagonizing the U.S. and mismanaging the country’s faltering economy.
Most Western analysts believe Iran does not yet have the technology to produce nuclear weapons, including warheads for long-range missiles. A group of U.S. and Russian scientists said in a report issued Tuesday that Iran could produce a simple nuclear device in one to three years and a nuclear warhead in another five years after that.
Does anyone have the feeling that the United States and Europe are fiddling around with Iran as it develops a viable nuclear missile program? And, Russia and China are facilitating it.
Time to avoid a nuclear confrontation is wasting away.

The intent of California voters is clear as all California budget measures failed at the polls yesterday.
California is currently saddled with at least a $21 Billion budget shortfall.
An angry electorate soundly defeated a slate of special election budget measures Tuesday, a decision that left Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and state lawmakers holding virtually nothing but a scalpel to deal with California’s $21.3 billion shortfall.
Schwarzenegger, who dropped Election Day campaigning to attend a White House announcement on new auto fuel standards, was scheduled to return Wednesday to meet with legislators and discuss options for the budget.
Now what?
The “big five” elected leaders — Schwarzenegger and the legislative chieftains from both houses — are slated to begin closed-door meetings today upon the governor’s return from Washington, where he spent election day after casting a last-minute absentee ballot.
On Thursday a small group of Senate and Assembly members will hold the first of what’s expected to be a slew of daily public sessions to wrangle over the details of the budget.
Schwarzenegger has called for cuts that would hit every corner of the state. He announced plans to lay off 5,000 of the state’s 235,000 workers and has proposed slashing education by up to $5 billion, selling state properties, borrowing $2 billion from local governments and potentially reducing eligibility for healthcare programs.
California voters are disgusted with the Pols of both parties who have taxed and spent the state into insolvency. There can be no more tax increases and so there will be cuts in programs and layoffs. Perhaps the feds and President Obama will bailout California with some funds, but, likely state employees and the schools will take the biggest hits.
As for the political climate, voters are angry and more angry than anytime since 1978 and Proposition 13. Look for a series of initiatives reining in the Democrat dominated California Legislature for 2010 and more intense scrutiny of candidates who will replace Governor Schwarzenegger next year.
Anti-tax and spend sentiment is brewing and will intensify over the summer.
Will it spread across the country, next Fall?

This politically motivated criminal prosecution for battery against Jose “Joel” Angeles who is Assemblywoman Audra Strickland’s, R-Moorpark, Chief of Staff is headed to Ventura County Superior court on June 18, 2009. Flap first wrote about the case almost a year ago.
Flap was there and wrote this post after the altercation/protests and the fundraising event for Assemblywoman Audra Strickland’s husband, Tony.
The entire Flap was and continues to be a “He Said, They Said†argument. Flap did not see the supposed “smack downâ€
but did interview one of the female alleged victims. She did have
scratches on her right arm which she said she received by being pushed
into an adjoining hedge.
But, the hedge had sharp prongs, the sidewalk was filled with people
and Flap was easily pushed into it and scratched his own arm.
Ventura County Sheriff officers interviewed all parties and since none of the parties would pursue prosecution or a citizen’s arrest, no arrests were made.
Democratic Party activists of Ventura County tried to sink the candidacy of now, newly elected GOP California State Senator Tony Strickland by creating a row out in front of his fundraising event with Mitt Romney. But, it didn’t work and Strickland was elected by a narrow margin in a closely contested race.
But, this case has dragged on by the outrageous claims of the 69 year old President of the Camarillo Democratic Club and the dogged prosecution by partisan Demcorat Attorney General Jerry Brown’s office.
This case is going nowhere (unless an outright acquittal or dismissal) and does anyone bet that there will be some sort of plea deal on the courthouse steps?
If not, the question will be: Why is Jerry Brown, the Democrat Attorney General who will run for Governor in 2010 wasting taxpayers dollars on a politcal prosecution?
Stay tuned……

Day By Day by Chris Muir
Chris, you can bet the GOP is accumulating all of the Obama promises and flips to use in the Congressional midterm elections in 2010. There is no doubt that Obama statements have an expiration date and what he says one day may indeed change the next week.
Should the economy remain stagnant into the Fall, all of Obama’s incantations of “change” will fall flat and his fellow Democrats will be running for cover after Labor Day as they face re-election prospects.

Hilary Duff (L) with new veneers circa 2005 and (R) in May 2008
Yeah, it has been a while since I updated the flap about Hilary Duff’s teeth. Back in the day, Flap was quite critical of Hilary’s new porcelain veneers because, frankly, they looked like horses’ teeth and they marred her appearance.
But, it has come to my attention that last year she had them redone. Some have reported Hilary had them filed down.
Back when she got them, the press gave her a lot of crap, saying they looked like ‘horse teeth’; there have been rumors that she’s since had them filed-down to look more natural. Either way, my vote is that her smile looks gorgeous the way it is now. Do you agree or think her ‘before’ teeth were more flattering? For what it’s worth, she said the reason for getting veneers was that she was always chipping her weak teeth on microphones.
Of course, Hilary could NOT have fired porcelain filed down and/or reshaped without losing the glaze. She had them redone and thank God for that.
But, then again, Flap thought her natural dentition was fine.

Actually, no, they were not checked because as big and disheveled as Berger is, it would be difficult to hide a hard drive in his socks. But the material is missing nonetheless.
A massive amount of sensitive, national security-related information from the Clinton administration has gone missing from the national archives.
The Inspector General of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) told congressional committee staffers Tuesday that a hard drive containing over a terabyte of information — the equivalent of millions of books–went missing from the NARA facility in College Park, Md., sometime between October 2008 and March 2009.
The Department of Justice and the Secret Service are conducting an investigation, but it’s so far unclear whether the drive was lost as the result of a crime or an accident.
That hard drive includes information on Secret Service operating procedures, event logs, and other “highly sensitive information,” according to the office of Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the ranking member on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. The data also includes 100,000 Social Security numbers, including the number of one of Al Gore’s daughters.
According to Issa’s office, the hard drive was in the process of being moved when it somehow disappeared. At least 100 employees, in addition to numerous janitors, interns and visitors, could have accessed the location where the drive was last seen, which, the inspector general told staffers, was located on the way to the restroom.
Makes one wonder about all of those computers in the government. Remember when the nuclear secrets (at Los Alamos) hard drive went missing for years?
Congressional hearings might be a good idea.
