Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D- California

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is now as popluar as the Congressional GOP and sinking fast.
Nearly half of all Americans — 48 percent — disapprove of how the California Democrat she is handling her job as Speaker of the House in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Monday, while 39 percent approve of her performance.

That rating makes her less popular than other members of her party — congressional Democrats drew a 51 percent approval rating in last month’s CNN/ORC survey — and roughly in line with the congressional GOP, which drew positive ratings in April from just 39 percent of those polled.

That puts her approval rating at roughly the levels Newt Gingrich had in his first year as Speaker of the House. (Back in 1995, Gingrich’s approval rating was 37 percent; by 1997 — at the same point in his speakership that Pelosi is now — that had dropped to just 25 percent.)

The telephone poll of 1,010 Americans was conducted May 14-17, and has a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Think the Democrats will throw her over the side?

No. The conditions for a coup to throw Pelosi out are not quite right – yet. But, more torture-gate revelations by the CIA may sink her.

Political party affiliation has dramtically shifted away from the Democrats in this latest Gallup Poll.

The question:

In politics, as of today, do you consider yourself a Republican, a Democrat, or an independent? (Asked of independents: As of today, do you lean more to the Democratic Party or the Republican Party?

3543629676 0f3d44dfb3 o Political Party Affiliation Now Tied 11 Point Swing Towards GOP

Quite an interesting trend if this poll is not an outlier. Interestingly, the same thing happened after Bill Clinton was elected President. In 1994, the first election after Clinton’s 1992 election, the GOP captured the House majority for the first time in over 40 years.

Is the reason that American voters prefer divided government with no one party in complete control or has there been a Democrat, Obama overload?

Or just bad data.

You be the judge. But it does offer the GOP some hope.

Stay tuned……

This poll result is hard to fathom but here it is.

3543275546 7401c00ff3 o Poll Watch: American Voters Split on Whether the CIA Mislead Speaker Nancy Pelosi

And, it is split pretty much along partisan lines.

In typical partisan fashion, 62% of Democrats give Pelosi the benefit of the doubt while 62% of Republicans hold the opposite view. As for those not affiliated with either major political party, 38% say the CIA may have misled the current House speaker, but 48% say it’s not likely.

The ideological divide is similar: 70% of liberals take Pelosi’s side, but just 24% of conservatives agree.

Looks like Pelosi will survive for a while and Flap bets there will be NO truth commission on Bush era enhanced interrogation techniques lest it drudge up Pelosi’s lies and sins again.

For the GOP Pelosi becomes the new Hillary of fundraising opportunities as the CIA continues undermine her authority as Speaker.

OOpps Slow Joe Plagiarising Biden has done it again.
Vice President Joe Biden, well-known for his verbal gaffes, may have finally outdone himself, divulging potentially classified information meant to save the life of a sitting vice president.

According to a report, while recently attending the Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, an annual event where powerful politicians and media elite get a chance to cozy up to one another, Biden told his dinnermates about the existence of a secret bunker under the old U.S. Naval Observatory, which is now the home of the vice president.

The bunker is believed to be the secure, undisclosed location former Vice President Dick Cheney remained under protection in secret after the 9/11 attacks.

Eleanor Clift, Newsweek magazine’s Washington contributing editor, said Biden revealed the location while filling in for President Obama at the dinner, who, along with Grover Cleveland, is the only president to skip the gathering.

Poor Joe is becoming the Dan Quayle of the Democratic Party.

Here is a partial list of his other gaffes:

– On March 13, 2009, Biden addressed a former Senate colleague by saying, “An hour late, oh give me a f**king break,” after he arrived on Amtrak at Union Station in Washington, D.C. The vice president’s expletive was caught on a live microphone.

– During a Feb. 25, 2009, interview on CBS’ “Early Show,” Biden encouraged viewers to visit a government-run Web site that tracks stimulus spending. When asked for the site’s web address, Biden could not remember the site’s “number.”

“You know, I’m embarrassed. Do you know the Web site number?” he asked an aide standing out of view. “I should have it in front of me and I don’t. I’m actually embarrassed.”

– At a Jan. 30, 2009, swearing-in ceremony of senior White House staff, Biden mocked Chief Justice John Roberts for his presidential oath blunder on Inauguration Day.

“Am I doing this again?” Biden said, after Obama asked him to administer the oath. When Biden was told the swearing-in was for senior staff — and not cabinet members — the vice president quipped, “My memory is not as good as Justice Roberts,” prompting a stern nudge from Obama.

– On Inauguration Day, Jan. 20 2009, Biden misspoke when he told a cheering crowd of supporters, “Jill and I had the great honor of standing on that stage, looking across at one of the great justices, Justice Stewart.” Justice John Paul Stevens — not Stewart — swore Biden in as vice president.

– When criticizing former GOP nominee John McCain in Athens, Ohio, on Oct. 15, 2008, Biden said, “Look, John’s last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number-one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S, jobs.”

– In a Sept. 22, 2008, CBS interview, Biden misspoke when he said Franklin D. Roosevelt was president when the stock market crashed in 1929.

“When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened,” he said. Herbert Hoover — not Roosevelt — was president in 1929, and television had not yet been invented in 1929.

– During a Sept. 12, 2008, speech in Columbia, Mo., Biden called for Missouri State Sen. Chuck Graham, who is wheelchair-bound, to “stand up.”

“Oh, God love ya,” Biden said, after realizing his mistake. “What am I talking about?”

– At a Sept. 10, 2008, town hall meeting in Nashua, N.H., Biden said, “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me.”

– Biden mistakenly referred to Alaska governor Sarah Palin as the “lieutenant governor” of her state during a town hall meeting on Sept. 4, 2008 at George Mason University in Manassas, Va.

“I heard a very, by the way I mean this sincerely, a very strong and a very good political speech from a lieutenant governor of Alaska who I think is going to be very formidable, very formidable not only in the campaign but in the debate,” Biden said.

– Biden said he was running for president — not vice president — during a Sept. 1, 2008, roundtable discussion in Scranton, Pa.

“Today is the moment for me as a United States senator running for president to put aside the national politics and focus on what’s happening down there,” Biden said.

– Biden referred to John McCain as “George” during his vice presidential acceptance speech on Aug. 27, 2008, at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Co. “Freudian slip, folks, Freudian slip,” he explained.

– Biden confused army brigades with battalions when speaking about Obama’s plan for sending troops to Afghanistan.

“Or should we trust Barack Obama, who more than a year ago called for sending two additional combat brigades to Afghanistan?”

– During his first campaign rally with Obama as his vice presidential running mate on Aug. 23, 2008, Biden introduced Obama by saying, “A man I’m proud to call my friend. A man who will be the next President of the United States — Barack America!”

– On Jan. 31, 2007 — the day Biden announced his presidential bid — the Delaware Senator was roundly criticized for calling Obama “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

We don’t have to say, keep them coming Joe, because we know they will. But, don’t worry he is a one termer as Vice President anyway.

US President Barack Obama waves as he arrives on the stage to attend the commencement ceremony in the Joyce Center of Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana, May 17, 2009

So, President Obama spoke at Catholic Notre Dame University’s commencement yesterday and spoke “nice” to the pro-life crowd. But, do his abortion policies match his rhetoric?
But Obama has disappointed some anti-abortion Catholics with decisions as president that they view to be at odds with his more tempered language on abortion, such as lifting the ban on federal funding for overseas clinics that offer abortion counseling and reversing the Bush administration’s ban on federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research.

One of the protesters at Notre Dame, Jill Stanek, an anti-abortion blogger who did not support Obama, said the president’s speech sounded eerily familiar.

“It was just a regurgitation of things he’s said for a long time,” Stanek said. “He’s so good at expressing your point of view, so people are lulled into thinking he agrees with them, and he doesn’t. It’s just so typical Barack Obama.”

Obama rarely strayed into the substance of the debate Sunday, steering clear, for instance, of any explanation of why he reversed George W. Bush’s policy on stem cell research.

Hell No.

And, what about Catholic physicians, nurses and hospitals that do NOT perform abortions? Will their careers and/or funding be cut off?

Will doctors be forced to leave the profession or leave hospitals if they refuse to perform abortions?

He did pledge to “honor the conscience of those who disagree with abortion” as he seeks to rewrite a Bush-era “conscience clause” designed to protect health-care workers who refuse to participate in care they believe conflicts with their personal beliefs. Women’s health advocates and abortion rights supporters say it creates a major obstacle to family planning and other treatments.

Greg Mueller, a Republican consultant who works with anti-abortion groups, said Obama’s language Sunday doesn’t match a president that he sees as strongly pro-abortion rights.

“He might have called for toning down the rhetoric but his abortion policies are tuned up on steroids,” said Mueller. “Even considering the revocation of the conscience clause puts Catholic hospitals, Evangelical and Catholic pro-life doctors and nurses in a very tough spot career-wise – this is another example of President Obama’s rhetoric not matching his policies.”

The President said in his speech about reaching “common ground.”

Flap will beleive it when he sees it.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

President Obama is falling into the Bill Clinton syndrome of reversing policy based on the day to day political polls. But, what does anyone expect from a POL with so little actual governing experience?

Watch for more reversals and outright rejection of his campaign promises as reality of Obama’s re-election, or not, dawns on his political advisors and the national Democrat Party.

Obama is PLUS CA CHANGE you can believe in.
