Charles Krauthammer: Mitt Romney the Frontrunner for 2012 GOP Presidential Nomination

Charles Krauthammer on Fox News’ Special Report

And, Charles slams Sarah Palin as not a serious candidate for the Presidency.

I agree that Palin needs some time and seasoning but will be a force in the GOP for many years to come. Palin  is only 45 years old.

Palin should run for re-election as Governor and then for the U.S. Senate when Ted Steven’s seat currently held by Democrat Mark Begich becomes available to challenge in 2014.

If the economy remains broken, look for Romney, despite his flip flops and inconsistency on the issues, to seriously challenge Obama.

United States Prepared to Shoot Down North Korean ICBM Taepodong – 2 Missile

The ONLY question I have since it is apparent that President Obama has given the order to OK a kill of the missile if it appears headed towards the United States, is which missile defense system will get the kill?

U.S. missile defenses are prepared to try to knock down the last stage of a Taepodong-2 missile that North Korea is expected soon to launch if sensors detect the weapon threatens U.S. territory, the commander of the U.S. Northern Command told The Washington Times.

“The nation has a very, very credible ballistic-missile defense capability. Our ground-based interceptors in Alaska and California, I’m very comfortable, give me a capability that if we really are threatened by a long-range ICBM that I’ve got high confidence that I could interdict that flight before it caused huge damage to any U.S. territory,” said Air Force Gen. Victor E. “Gene” Renuart, Northcom commander.

The general said the United States won’t activate its missile defenses if the North Korean missile appears it will fall safely into the water as the country’s last test missile did.

My bet is on the Aegis System based on a United States ship. Second, a Ground-based interceptor from Alaska.

    Stay tuned…….

Iraq War: Mission Accomplished as Iraq Takes Charge of the War?

    ramireztoon070109

    Political Cartoon by Michael Ramirez

The actual war in Iraq was over some time ago, after the Bush “SURGE” was the final nail in the coffin. But, now, President Obama will take the credit for the end of the Iraq War which former President Bush deserves.

The decision to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq’s cities on June 30 was made by Iraqis, not Americans. That’s why the Iraqi government is holding a massive celebration to mark the redeployment as National Sovereignty Day. At the insistence of Iraqis, the Status of Forces Agreement, which was concluded late last year between the Iraqi government and the Bush Administration, required that U.S. troops be out of Iraq’s urban areas by June 30, 2009, and withdrawn from the country altogether by the end of 2011. Now, Iraqi citizens and the American forces hovering in Iraq’s countryside are holding their breath for the first stage of testing Iraq’s ability to protect itself. It didn’t get off to an auspicious start with the news that four U.S. soldiers were killed in combat on the eve of the withdrawal.

But, is the war really over or is Obama just drawing down troops because American political will is drained and he promised a withdrawal during the campaign?

Oh yeah, remember that Obama opposed the Surge as did Democratic Senate Majority leader Harry Reid who proclaimed the war was lost.

    Stay tuned…….

Poll Watch: 44 Per Cent Have Unfavorable View of Senator Al Franken

Sen.-elect Al Franken, D-Minn., talks to supporters during a rally at the mall of the Minnesota State Capitol in St Paul, Minn., Wednesday, July 1, 2009

    No surprise here.

Forty-four percent (44%) of U.S. voters have an unfavorable opinion of former “Saturday Night Live” comedy writer Al Franken as he prepares to join the U.S. Senate as its newest Democratic member.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 34% have a favorable opinion of Franken, who will be sworn in next week as a senator from Minnesota. Twenty-two percent (22%) are not sure what they think of him.

It is fairly typical for individual legislators to have negative favorability ratings on a national basis.

There’s clearly more intense feeling among those who don’t like Franken. Twelve percent (12%) of voters have a very favorable view of the new senator, compared to 29% who have a very unfavorable opinion.

Similarly, 19% of Democrats have a very favorable view of Franken, while 51% of Republicans and 32% of voters not affiliated with either party regard him very unfavorably.

Al Franken is a far left comic that represents more of the Hollwood elite than every day Americans. But, hey he is a Democrat and they care, right?

Flap wonders about the people of Minnesota. First, they elect that moron Jesse Ventura as Governor and now Franken.

    What are they thinking?

Then again, California elected Arnold Schwarzenegger, so Flap should talk.

More North Korea Fireworks – Test Fire Four Short-Range Missiles

South Koreans watch a television broadcasting undated image a North Korea launch missile at the Seoul Railway Station in Seoul, South Korea, Thursday, July 2, 2009. North Korea test-fired two short-range missiles Thursday, South Korea’s Defense Ministry said, a move that aggravates already high tensions following Pyongyang’s recent nuclear test and U.N. sanctions imposed as punishment. The Korean read ‘North Korea test-fired two short-range missiles

Yeah, North Korea actually test fired four short-range missiles with the big ICBM, Taepodong – 2 due to be launched on America’s Independence Day – like two years ago.

North Korea test-fired four short-range missiles on Thursday, further stoking tension in the region that was already high due to Pyongyang’s nuclear test and threats to boost its nuclear arsenal in response to UN sanctions.

The North, which often fires short-range missiles as part of military drills and usually times the launches for periods of diplomatic friction, was hit with UN sanctions following its May 25 nuclear test.

The salvo began with two surface-to-ship missiles fired off North Korea’s east coast between 5:20 p.m and 6 p.m. (0820-0900 GMT) that flew about 100 km (60 miles) and splashed into the sea, a South Korean defence official said.

A third short-range missile was fired around two hours later, the defence ministry said, and South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, citing officials in Seoul, later said a fourth had been fired.

North Korea last month warned shipping to keep away from a maritime zone extending 110 km off its east coast between June 25 and July 10, saying it was conducting a military drill.

“This activity is not unexpected,” said U.S. Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman.

“North Korea continues to develop and pursue missile technologies and the United States continues to remain concerned about not only their missile activities but their proliferation activities and their nuclear programme.”

A South Korean daily said that the secretive North may also test fire mid-range missiles, viewed by the South, the United States and others as a more serious act, in a matter of days.

In the meantime, the Obama Administration is plodding along with United Nation’s sanctions, if enforced, will be treated as an act of war by the North Koreans.

Stay tuned for more fireworks from Kim Jong-Il.

Day By Day by Chris Muir July 2, 2009 – Same Old Song

    day by day 070209

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The same old song is like what President Ronald Reagan proclaimed: ” The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’

Or, how about his one: “Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.”

Governor Sanford of South Carolina  is a disgrace and should resign.

President Barack Obama is directing America in the wrong direction and should be defeated at the polls along with his cohorts in the Democratic Party controlled Congress.
