President Barack Obama’s Health Town Hall in New Hampshire yesterday

Come on, Mr. President get your facts straight.

The American College of Surgeons is deeply disturbed over the uninformed public comments President Obama continues to make about the high-quality care provided by surgeons in the United States. When the President makes statements that are incorrect or not based in fact, we think he does a disservice to the American people at a time when they want clear, understandable facts about health care reform. We want to set the record straight.

— Yesterday during a town hall meeting, President Obama got his facts completely wrong. He stated that a surgeon gets paid $50,000 for a leg amputation when, in fact, Medicare pays a surgeon between $740 and $1,140 for a leg amputation. This payment also includes the evaluation of the patient on the day of the operation plus patient follow-up care that is provided for 90 days after the operation. Private insurers pay some variation of the Medicare reimbursement for this service.

And this isn’t the first time. Remember the comment about the tonsilectomies and how the surgeons did it to make alot of money?

How can anyone believe Obama when he has his facts this messed up and is so out of touch with reality.

Obamacare ain’t going to make it out of the U.S. Senate.

Wow! Someone hurry and shoot the advisor.
Not only he made up a huge sum for the procedure, he insinuated that surgeons purposely will allow the patient to become debilitated by the disease so that they can cash in on amputating an extremity!

    No…he can’t.

I think he needs to change his sources of those false information. He can loose his credibility for that!

  7. Cindy says:

Does he really have a reliable source? I don’t thing that they really get that big “benefit” at the expense of the patients.
