Film Director Roman Polanski Arrested for 1977 Sex With Minor Case

In 1977, he was accused of raping the teenager while photographing her during a modeling session. The girl said Polanski plied her with champagne and part of a Quaalude pill at Jack Nicholson’s house while the actor was away. She said that, despite her protests, he performed oral sex, intercourse and sodomy on her.

Polanski was allowed to plead guilty to one of six charges, unlawful sexual intercourse, and was sent to prison for 42 days of evaluation.

Lawyers agreed that would be his full sentence, but the judge tried to renege on the plea bargain. Aware the judge would sentence him to more prison time and require his voluntary deportation, Polanski fled to France.

The victim, Samantha Geimer, who long ago identified herself publicly, has joined in Polanski’s bid for dismissal, saying she wants the case to be over. She sued Polanski and reached an undisclosed settlement.

But, it does seem strange that after all of these years (Polanski is 76 years old), an appeal filed to overturn his plea and with the recent Susan Atkins death (who murdered his wife, Sharon Tate), that the government would enforce the judgment of the court.

Polanski will have his day in a California courtroom soon.

I am sorry for all of his misfortunes in life. We all have them. The fact remains that he drugged and gave alcohol to an innocent 13 year old girl when he was what 42 or 43 years old. Then he raped and sodomized her. His admission to this crime and then fleeing justice only exacerbates his guilt. His success in films has nothing to do with the crime he committed. I personally hope he stays in Europe and rots. He will answer to a judge much more powerful than anything that exists on earth. He is pure human garbage. If I ever meet him face to face, I will punch him as hard as I can without a word being spoken. Roman Polanski, you are a disgrace to the human race.

Roman Polanski invited the Manson gang into his house and was sharing his wife, Sharon Tate, with his friends, setting the stage for her murder (a quote from her: “I only sleep with other men to accommodate my husband”). On his show aired last night on CNN, Larry King perhaps recalled the life of the Polanski’s when he said (speaking with her sister) that Polanski was responsible for her murder, then corrected his “mistake”. King went out of his way to support Polanski on his show, bringing in Polanski supporters. Even the victim claimed that the only resentment she had against Polanski was that he caused the media attention which has been such an ordeal for her. Imagine, a woman saying she didn’t resent being drugged, raped and sodomized at 13, only resented the media attention and would never have told her mother. Sounds as depraved as Polanski to me. Yet King and other members on his show last night (excepting the prosecutor) would have us believe Polanski has been victimized! He got a slap on the wrist to begin with, has been living the life of Polanski abroad, and now wants to return with impunity. Since his style has been cramped a bit, he’s a “victim” now! As far as the ‘victim rights advocate’ goes – were I ever a victim, I’d stay clear of her. She even said, in effect, that child rape is a “rite of passage” in France (70% of the French polled believe Polanski should be genuinely punished).

Would this group parade such degraded standards for child care and protection if the child were their own? I’d like to think they have some limits, but given their obvious amorality, I believe they would. Maybe the appropriate child protection agencies should do some checking.
