  • Carly Fiorina, a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, will be the guest of honor Thursday at a reception sponsored by the Republican Party of San Luis Obispo County and the Lincoln Club of San Luis Obispo County.

    The VIP reception begins at 5:30 p.m. at Holland Ranch, 2275 Carpenter Road, San Luis Obispo. A general reception follows at 6:30 p.m.
    To RSVP or for more information contact Amber Johnson at 541-4010 or e-mail her at exec.director@rpslo.org.

  • Sen. Russ Feingold (Wis.) became the first Democrat to openly criticize Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) use of racially insensitive language and declined to endorse Reid’s continued tenure as Majority Leader.
    ++++++
    The first Dem to crap on Reid – one of many.
  • U.S. Senate candidate Chuck DeVore's campaign said today it raised $655,000 from mid August until the end of 2009. During the same period, his rival in the California senate race, Carly Fiorina, reported raising $1.1 million and loaning her campaign an additional $2.5 million.

    The DeVore campaign argues that it's been able to do more with less, by keeping the race a dead heat despite Fiorina's higher spending. According to the DeVore campaign, he has spent $352,000, compared to $830,000 spent by Fiorina.
    ++++++
    Chuck DeVore has been a proven failure in fundraising this campaign. Fiorina has only been a candidate a few months and has already outraised him almost two to 1.

  • Sure, you know Chuck DeVore as the conservative GOP Senate candidate from Orange County. But Chuck D from the OC is nothing if not a romantic. The other day he and his wife Diane Tweeted Happy 22nd Anniversary wishes to each other.

    It was all going well until Chuck misspelled his wife's name. Twice. And the misspelling led us to question the veracity of Chuck's opposition to same-sex marriage.
    +++++++
    It is Diane, Chuck

    Sheesh…….

  • Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina loaned $2.5 million of her own money to her campaign for the U.S. Senate, an indication she's willing to invest significant personal resources to unseat Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer.

    Fiorina also raised nearly $1.1 million in donations during her first two months in the race. After expenses, that gives her about $2.7 million going into 2010, according to her campaign.
    ++++++++
    Carly is putting her wallet where her campaign is.

  • 88. PATRICK RUFFINI (-)

    Patrick Ruffini; The most influential US conservatives

    Political Strategist

    Ruffini describes himself as "an online strategist dedicated to helping Republicans and conservatives achieve dominance in a networked era". During the 2006 election, he was the Republican National Committee's eCampaign director, and in the 2004 election he helped run web operations for the Bush-Cheney campaign.

    Considered to be one of the cleverest young conservatives on the web, he has already clashed with the party establishment and former colleagues when recommending the Congressional party vote against the Bush bailout in the autumn of 2008.
    ++++++++
    Indeed……

  • Former South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson denies there’s a coup in the works to replace RNC Chairman Michael Steele, but refuses to say whether he’s been encouraged by Republican friends to make himself known in case the RNC chairman is ousted from office.

    Dawson, who lost to Steele by only 14 votes to lead the RNC last year, raised eyebrows with news that he will travel to the committee’s winter meeting in Hawaii on Jan. 25 — where Steele could face reprimand by committee members — as a substitute for South Carolina’s chairwoman.

    Republicans have blamed Steele for overshadowing last week’s news of high-profile Democratic retirements with comments that the GOP would not win back the House. Steele has also come under fire recently for giving paid speeches and for low fundraising numbers.
    +++++++
    It would be a disaster at this point to replace Michael Steele and Katon Dawson will NEVER be a suitable replacement anyway.

Just as Ronald Reagan went back to radio after his 1976 defeat to President Gerald Ford, Sarah Palin makes the smart move to go back to the conservative media.

Now, Sarah can pick her race and time at her own pace.

Plus, raise her family.

The re-inventing of Sarah Palin continues in earnest.

Carly Fiorina Jan 11 2009 San Diego CA Sen: Carly Fiorina Raises $1.1 Million for Senate Campaign in Two Months While Chuck DeVore Moans

Republican United States Senate candidate Carly Fioria in San Deigo today (visitng Hawthorne Power Systems)

Remember former CEO of Hewlett-Packard Carly Fiorina announced her candidacy for the United States Senate from California on November 4, 2009. In the meantime, she has raised over $1 million for her campaign.

From the press release:

Since the official launch of her campaign 60 days ago, support for Fiorina’s candidacy has continued to grow with more than $1 million in financial support coming in large part from Californians in nearly 500 cities and towns across the state. Eighty three percent of all donations are in amounts of less than $250 and the overall average donation amount to Carly’s campaign is less than $350. Carly’s online fundraising has raised $232,000.

In addition, Carly and her husband Frank have personally invested in her campaign. She has loaned the campaign $2.5 million. Click here to view a PDF of the summary page of Carly’s first fundraising quarter.

The Fiorina campaign reports having over $2.7 million of campaign cash on hand.

Whereas, her opponent for the Republican nomination California Assemblyman Chuck DeVore reports far less in receipts. I have reported Chuck DeVore’s lack of fundraising ability before – both here and here.

Yet, DeVore sends out his spokeshole Josh Trevino to try to spin the shortfall and his lack of campaign fundraising ability.

The DeVore campaign argues that it’s been able to do more with less, by keeping the race a dead heat despite Fiorina’s higher spending. According to the DeVore campaign, he has spent $352,000, compared to $830,000 spent by Fiorina.

“Carly Fiorina sunk well over twice the funds into her campaign, just to get to polling parity with Chuck DeVore,” DeVore spokesman Josh Trevino wrote in an email.

Trevino also cautioned that, “I wish to stress that the DeVore for California numbers here are only approximate. We don’t have final figures yet, but these are broadly correct.”

But, Chuck, Carly did not start fundraising until November of 2009 and you have been unable to raise money for over a year now.

And, what is this BS about polling parity? There hasn’t been a poll in this race for about two months and the last one only a week or so after Carly formally announced.

Keep moaning Chuck as Fiorina drops the targeted direct mail and runs television commercials while you can only twitter and watch.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Chris, having an ex-girlfriend front anything for Ned is dangerous to his marriage. No matter what his job situation, the Home Barn or other suitable employment looks good compared to the stress and angst this arrangement will cause.

On the other hand, drowning American’s Obama regrets is a marketable item. Look at Montana Democrat Senator Max Baucus and his drunken tirade over Obamacare on the Senate floor.

Now you know why the Tea Party movement as an expression of dissent has been so vitriolic. Most Americans won’t drown their regrets but will FIGHT for change.

  • A candidate whose aides were prepared to block him from becoming president. A wife whose virtuous image was a mirage. A mistress with a video camera. In an excerpt from the new book Game Change—their sweeping account of the 2008 campaign—the authors reveal that, inside the Edwards triangle, nothing was too crazy to be true.

    @LizMair calls this piece the most unflattering profile of people in politics she has ever read.

    Agreed

  • Campbell has had his problems in the past with GOP voters outside his Peninsula-Silicon Valley political homeland because his reputation as a pro-choice, gay rights moderate doesn’t square with the party’s conservative base.

    In 1992, Campbell lost a primary campaign for the U.S. Senate nomination to Bruce Herschensohn, a conservative political commentator. He won the GOP nomination for the Senate in 2000, under a since-eliminated rule that allowed registered voters to cast ballots for anyone in the primary, even members of other parties.

    The rule helped moderates like Campbell get through their primaries, but it didn’t do him any good in November 2000, when he lost in a landslide to Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

    (Emphasis mine)…

    Clearly, Campbell seems woefully out of touch with primary voters. The notion that he could successfully switch and run for the U.S. Senate seems to be nothing more than a ridiculous long shot.
    ++++++
    Carly Fiorina will beat both DeVore and Campbell

  • In the days leading up to an interview with ABC News’ Charlie Gibson, aides were worried with Ms. Palin’s grasp of facts. She couldn’t explain why North and South Korea were separate nations and she did not know what the Federal Reserve did. She also said she believed Saddam Hussein attacked the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.
    ++++++++
    I, somehow doubt this one. Please.
  • Sarah Palin is pushing back against the blistering account of her campaign in "Game Change," the hotly awaited campaign book by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin.

    Her spokeswoman, Meghan Stapleton, said in a statement: "The Governor's descriptions of these events are found in her book, 'Going Rogue.' Her descriptions are accurate. She was there. These reporters were not."

    The statement was provided to CBS's "60 Minutes,” which includes material about the former Alaska governor in a segment about “Game Change.” Correspondent Anderson Cooper interviewed Steve Schmidt, top strategist on the McCain-Palin campaign, who said a campaign aide preparing her for the debate with Joe Biden “told us the debate was going to be a debacle of historic and epic proportions.”

    “She was not focused … not engaged,” Schmidt told Cooper. “She was not really participating in the prep.” Schmidt confronted Palin and, he said, “She said, ‘You know, I think that's right.’”
    +++++
    No love lost between these two

  • The chairman of the Republican National Committee called Sunday for Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to step down as Majority Leader in the wake of revelations that he used the term "Negro" when discussing President Barack Obama's 2008 candidacy.

    "I think he should, if the standard is the one set by [Trent Lott]," Steele said on "Fox News Sunday" when asked if Reid should resign his post.
    +++++++
    Harry Reid is sinking fast to win re-election in November.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Chris, the only reason we see the LEFT’s obvious power grab is that they actually have a chance at winning an election or have won some. For many years, the Democrats were content with using the federal courts to advance their agenda.

This is not to mention the universities, Hollywood and the MSM which they have successfully manipulated for years.

In today’s internet culture with instant communication, however, the LEFT might actually have to be transparent and win on the merits of the issue.

Shudder the thought.
