    • A while back, we told you about the Tea Party Express III, a conservative rallying cry of a bus trip organized and fronted by, among others, Sacramento political organizer Joe Wierzbicki and Roseville resident Deborah Johns.

It will kick off March 27 in Searchlight, NV. Why there? It's the hometown of Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, D-NV, aka Incumbent Non-Gratis No. 1 Among TP types.

To me, Joe W. has jokingly referred to the event as "our Conservative version of 'Woodstock' or 'Burning Man' if you will." If so, he just contacted us with big news: The conservative "Jimi Hendrix" would be there: Sarah Palin is going to show up at the kickoff in Searchlight, NV.

Well, it is a pretty small town between Laughlin and Las Vegas. Nice post office though and nice federal highway.

    • Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, has actually been spotted in California this week to push her bid for the 2010 CA GOP gubernatorial nomination — but will she debate as the campaign against State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner is heating up in a rather headline-grabbing fashion?

Poizner, speaking today on KPPC radio in Southern California, continued pounding Monday's big story, accusing her campaign aide Mike Murphy ("an imbecile") of political extortion in trying to get him out of the GOP governor's race. And he said Whitman, "for some reason doesn't want to campaign like a normal candidate," refusing to talk to California media" and sidestepping debates.

On the debate angle, he's got a point: looks like Whitman won't take part in a long hoped-for debate at the upcoming 2010 state GOP spring convention in March.
      ++++++++
A very bad move on the part of Whitman. Can Poizner make a come back?

    • Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams will undergo heart surgery later this week in the United States.

Deputy premier Kathy Dunderdale confirmed the treatment at a news conference Tuesday, but would not reveal the location of the operation or how it would be paid for.

"He has gone to a renowned expert in the procedure that he needs to have done," said Ms. Dunderdale, who will become acting premier while Mr. Williams is away for three to 12 weeks.

"In consultation with his own doctors, he's decided to go that route."

Mr. Williams' decision to leave Canada for the surgery has raised eyebrows over his apparent shunning of Canada's health-care system.

Just shocking but hell if you want to live…..

    • John Boozman will enter the Arkansas Senate race this weekend as the frontrunner. He leads incumbent Blanche Lincoln by an amazing 56-33 margin in our first poll of the race.

Lincoln's approval rating has sunk to just 27%, with 62% of voters in the state disapproving of her. She's at a middling 51% even within her own party and just 17% of independents and 9% of Republicans are happy with how she's doing.

A look inside the health care issue gives a good indication of how Lincoln has managed now to get it from all sides. 61% of voters in the state oppose the President's plan, and among those folks Lincoln's approval rating is just 8% with 79% of them expressing the belief that she's too liberal. But she's managed to antagonize a lot of the people who support the Democratic health care plan as well- 36% of them think she's too conservative and her approval with them is just 57%. Barack Obama's at 95% with that same group of voters.

Will she retire? or be asked to?

    • The medical journal The Lancet on Tuesday retracted a controversial 1998 paper that linked the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine to autism.

The study linked autism with the MMR vaccine. The research subsequently had been discredited.

Last week, the study's lead author Dr Andrew Wakefield was found to have acted unethically in conducting the research.

And, how many children plus adults suffered needlessly?

    • The Republican duel for governor turned nasty – and thus became much more interesting – Monday when Steve Poizner accused rival Meg Whitman of using threats and bribes to get him out of the race, and her campaign questioned Poizner's mental health.

Poizner released an e-mail from Mike Murphy, a top Whitman campaign adviser, to Poizner's pollster last week asking, "Is there anything we can do to get SP to reconsider this race?" and suggesting that Whitman, the very wealthy former eBay honcho, "can spend $40M+ tearing up Steve if we must."

A mudslinging primary battle would be "bad for him, bad for us," Murphy continued, suggesting that if Poizner would drop out, "we could unite entire party behind Steve right now to build a serious race against (Sen. Dianne Feinstein) in 2012."
      +++++++
Did Meg Whitman pay off Tom Campbell to switch to Senate race?

    • There is an old adage that is not only true in our personal lives, but also in government: if you want to know what a person’s priorities are take a look at how they spend their money. The national budget reflects the priorities of the President and the Congress. It is one of the most important policy documents our government considers and it serves as the roadmap for years to come.

This week the President had the opportunity to set our nation on a healthy fiscal path by getting control of the budget deficit and the long-term national debt as part of his budget proposal. Unfortunately, instead of championing true fiscal responsibility, his budget drives skyrocketing federal spending to new heights, raises taxes by more than $2 trillion and increases the debt we are leaving to our children and grandchildren by trillions of dollars.

Updated: CA-Sen: Chuck DeVore’s Money BOMB Fail

    +++++Update+++++

Now, the Devore campaign spokesman Joshua Trevino is claiming success of the Devore moneybomb:

    But…….

Have they changed the facts as outlined below?

Here is a screenshot from a few minutes ago:

Well, finally DeVore made it to $60K which I say below is certainly not very much by today’s campaign standards. So, sorry Josh, it is still a FAIL – unless DeVore’s success equals “changing the clock” or other such time changing antics.

chuckdevoretweets CA-Sen: Chuck DeVore Says Pro-Life While He Votes For Public Taxpayer Funding of Abortion

California Assemblyman and U.S. Senate candidate Chuck DeVore Tweeting for Cash(?)

Well, Chuck DeVore is NO Scott Brown or Marco Rubio. It is well documented that in the race for California United States Senate to replace Barbara Boxer, DeVore’s fundraising has been extremely anemic.

On the other hand, Chuck DeVore only raised $445,000 since October 2009. His expenses during that time were $364,000 for a net for the last quarter of 2009 equal to less than $100,000. DeVore reports $226,364 cash on hand but has debts and obligations of $83,654. So, his net cash on hand is $142,710.

DeVore’s poor showing in fundraising should re-ignite the rumors that he will soon drop out of the race.

    DeVore’s campaign statement is here.

And, I documented the start of Chuck DeVore’s campaign’s moneybomb here – on January 27. Remember that a moneybomb, first promoted by Presidential candidate Ron Paul and his rabid online followers is supposed to be a ONE DAY event – a sudden cash infusion for a campaign.

Ron Paul, the libertarian contrarian of the GOP, did not use the Internet to find his fervent band of followers and donors. They found him – and set records in the process.

Paul’s backers introduced a new term to the political lexicon – “money bomb” – a one-day fundraising frenzy that yielded $4.3 million Nov. 5, chosen because it was Guy Fawkes Day in England (he’s the guy who tried to blow up Parliament 400 years ago).

But the Paulunteers (or Paulistas) were just getting started. A month later, Trevor Lyman, a music promoter who had never voted before, and his backers set off a $6 million money bomb. They picked Dec. 16, the day commemorating the Boston Tea Party. The Ron Paul Revolution set a one-day mark for fundraising that contributed to his fourth-quarter haul of almost $20 million.

But, DeVore’s campaign has failed in style and subtance. His moneybomb has been over many days and FAILED to raise any REAL money (not even meeting his own goal of $60K).

Here is what DeVore started with (or at least when I noticed his moneybomb) on January 27:

DeVore-Money-Bomb-Jan-26-20 CA-Sen: Chuck DeVores Money BOMB

Here is yesterday morning (February 1) around 6 AM or so:

From January 27 to early morning February 1 DeVore increased about $11K

And, here is a screenshot from February 1 (last night) around 7PM:

About a 13K increase in 12 hours or so

And, then this morning (February 2) around 6AM:

A few thousand more but still below the stated goal of $60K by Febraury 1 (note the goal was changed this morning to February 2)

I don’t mean to beat an apparent dead horse and candidate as Chuck Devore is but these fundraising numbers and lack of support have to give the candidate a wake-up call. With the cost of campaigns and his polling numbers (last place) in both the California Field and PPIC polls, why is Chuck DeVore in good conscience even persisting in filing for the United States Senate?

DeVore has been campaigning for over fourteen months now and his candidacy has NOT caught fire – no matter how much he spams twitter for campaign donations.

Chuck, gracefully withdraw now and support the only remaining conservative in the race, Carly Fiorina.

CA-Gov: Meg Whitman Refuses to Debate Steve Poizner at March California GOP Convention

Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay

This is a bad move by Meg Whitman.

Months ago, we told you that CA state GOP chair Ron Nehring was working hard to arrange candidates’ debates at the March 12-14 gathering at the Santa Clara Hyatt.

Party insiders lauded Nehring’s efforts to make it happen: debates for all statewide offices would not only excite the party’s grassroots and give the most loyal GOP voters an up-close-and-personal look at their candidates, but would be a guaranteed sell-out benefitting party coffers.

This will NOT sit well with Republican Party activists and average voters will wonder what Whitman has to hide. Whitman should change her mind and debate Steve Poizner.

  • Climate Change,  Day By Day,  Global Warming

Day By Day February 2, 2010 – Virgins

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The entire issue of Global Warming and man-made climnate change is falling apart and why?

The science is just not there – well, it has been falsified to satisfy a political agenda.

    Fancy that.

You have to assume that America’s dying monodailies are now actively auditioning for state ownership. How else to explain the silence of the massed ranks of salaried “environmental correspondents” on the daily revelations emerging from the fast disintegrating “scientific consensus” on “climate change”? You get livelier coverage from the Chinese press.

But in competitive newspaper markets they still know a story when they see one. Surely the most worrying sign for the thuggish enforcers of “settled science” is that even the eco-lefties at The Guardian and The Independent, two of the most gung-ho warm-mongers on the planet, are beginning to entertain doubts. From The Independent:

Professor Jones and a colleague, Professor Wei-Chyung Wang of the State University of New York at Albany suggested in an influential 1990 paper in the journal Nature that the urban heat island effect was minimal – and cited as supporting evidence a long series of temperature measurements from Chinese weather stations, half in the countryside and half in cities, supplied by Professor Wei-Chyung…

However, it has been reported that when climate sceptics asked for the precise locations of the 84 stations, Professor Jones at first declined to release the details. And when eventually he did release them, it was found that for the ones supposed to be in the countryside, there was no location given.

Oh, right. Very scientific. From The Guardian:

It also emerges that documents which Wang claimed would exonerate him and Jones did not exist…

Wang said: “I have been exonerated by my university on all the charges. When we started on the paper we had all the station location details in order to identify our network, but we cannot find them any more…”

Ah, yes. The old dog-ate-my-tree-rings excuse yet again. As Andrew Bolt notes, the Warmergate scandal is actually a media scandal, too: This example actually suggests how complicit the media has been in keeping the global warming scare alive by failing to report what was actually under its nose.

And, then, there is the latest.

Phil Jones, the beleaguered British climate scientist at the centre of the leaked emails controversy, is facing fresh claims that he sought to hide problems in key temperature data on which some of his work was based.

A Guardian investigation of thousands of emails and documents apparently hacked from the University of East Anglia’s climatic research unit has found evidence that a series of measurements from Chinese weather stations were seriously flawed and that documents relating to them could not be produced.

You know what they say about fooling the people – all of the time. Falsified data, indeed.
