  • Many of the cars that once stopped in the Home Depot parking lot to pick up day laborers to hang drywall or do landscaping now just drive on by.

    Arizona's sweeping immigration bill allows police to arrest illegal immigrant day laborers seeking work on the street or anyone trying to hire them. It won't take effect until summer but it is already having an effect on the state's underground economy.

    "Nobody wants to pick us up," Julio Loyola Diaz says in Spanish as he and dozens of other men wait under the shade of palo verde trees and lean against a low brick wall outside the east Phoenix home improvement store.

    Many day laborers like Diaz say they will leave Arizona because of the law, which also makes it a state crime to be in the U.S. illegally and directs police to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are illegal immigrants.
    +++++++
    And, wasn't that the intent of the law?

  • Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln has fallen to her lowest levels of support yet in her bid for reelection, while her five top Republican challengers now pull over 50% support from Likely Voters in the state. Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter, who is challenging Lincoln in the Democratic Primary, runs only slightly stronger than she does.
    ++++++++
    Blanches Lincoln is Done – Put a fork in her.
  • Protest organizers said on Wednesday outrage over the Arizona law — which seeks to drive illegal immigrants out of the state bordering Mexico — has galvanized Latinos and would translate into a higher turnout for May Day rallies in more than 70 U.S. cities.

    "The marches and demonstrations are going to be far more massive than they otherwise would have been," said Juan Jose Gutierrez, a Los Angeles rally organizer who runs an immigration assistance company.

    The backlash began on Friday after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law a measure that requires state and local police to determine a person's immigration status if there is "reasonable suspicion" they are undocumented. Critics say it is unconstitutional and opens the door to racial profiling.

    Republican backers of the law say it is needed to curb crime in the desert state, which is a key corridor for drug and migrant smugglers from Mexico.

    64 Per Cent of Arizona residents favor the law

  • On April 23, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law S.B. 1070, sponsored by state Sen. Russell Pearce. The law makes it a state crime for an alien to commit certain federal immigration violations while in Arizona. However, based on the hyperventilating reaction of the open-borders left, one would think Arizona had constructed a police state.

    Read it all
  • SARAH PALIN, FORMER ALASKA GOVERNOR: Well, thankfully, Byron York — he hit the nail on the head in summarizing what this law really is about. There is no ability or opportunity in there for the racial profiling.

    And shame on the lame stream media again for turning this into something that it is not. Governor Jan Brewer did what she had to do as the CEO of that state. To help protect the citizens of her state she had to do what the federal government has refused to do, and that is help secure the borders.
    I think it's shameful, too, that the Obama administration has allowed, too, this to become more of a racial issue by perpetuating this myth that racial profiling is a part of this law.
    ++++++
    Absolutely correct.

  • Chuck DeVore has joined the club of U.S. Senate candidates with a 2008 presidential candidate in their corner.

    The Irvine assemblyman announced today that 2008 GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, has endorsed his campaign for the GOP U.S. Senate primary.

    Huckabee said DeVore earned the support of him and his political action committee because he will "work to bring some common sense back to Washington."

    "Chuck DeVore has a clear pro-life record, with a 100% pro-life, pro-family rating from the Capitol Resource Institute in Sacramento and a 100% rating from the pro-life, conservative California Republican Assembly," Huckabee, who now has his own show on Fox News, said in a statement.
    +++++++++
    Probably won't make too much difference since DeVore lacks the funds to advertise. This is probably a response to the Susan B Anthony pro-life endorsement of Fiorina yesterday

  • "We have more accomplishments to run on than any Party in a long time," Kaine's expected to say.

    ** We've gone from recession to recovery.
    ** We've made more progress in the war on terror in the last eight months than was made in the preceding eight years.
    ** We've strengthened our relationships with our allies around the world.
    **Two million people or more have jobs today who wouldn't have without the bold action taken by this President and Democrats in Congress.
    ** We have the first Latina and only the third woman ever on the Supreme Court.
    ** We're using science and fact in policy making instead of ideology and politics.
    ** We have the most transparent Administration in modern history, with tough ethics standards, and we are wringing the influence of special interests out of the policy making process.

  • A third of registered voters are inclined to reelect their representatives in Congress, the fewest since the Republican Party rode voter discontent to control of the House and Senate 16 years ago, according to a new ABC News-Washington Post poll.

    Nearly six in 10 said they'll instead look for someone new come the fall elections.

    The impact on congressional races is uncertain, and the finding may chill incumbents of all stripes. But the dynamic does have a partisan cast: Republicans and swing-voting independents alike are far more likely than Democrats to be looking for change in Congress.

    The finding is one of a variety of challenges for President Obama and his party in the current political climate, ranging from the tactical, such as weak support among senior citizens, to the thematic, including long-running economic anxiety and the hazardous big-government label he now wears.
    ++++++
    The Dems are in trouble and there is no more Bush to blame.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Agreed, Chris.

American voter awareness and sunlight is the best antiseptic for the Saul Alinsky trained LEFT. Since the explosion of the blogs beginning during the 2004 Presidential election cycle, the LEFT has manipulated, ridiculed and demonized the RIGHT and the GOP on the internet. And, they have been successful – overthrowing Republican majorities in the Congress and electing Barack Obama.

But, the RIGHT has figured it out. When a more balanced debate on the issues is presented to the American voting public (and when they see what the Democrats REALLY mean), a shift has occurred. How much of a shift will be realized over the summer and in the November midterm Congressional elections.

You can say when Americans are presented with the issues, ideas and facts the DEMOCRAT LEFT loses the argument.

  • California Senate candidate Carly Fiorina (R) won the backing of the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund.

    The endorsement of Fiorina by the conservative anti-abortion group is a blow to state Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R) who has tried to portray himself as the most conservative candidate in the GOP Senate primary.

    "From a pro-woman, pro-life perspective, there could be no greater contrast," Marjorie Dannenfelser, the group’s president, said in a statement Tuesday. "She embraces and advances the rights of women and unborn children, following in the footsteps of the earliest women in politics. Susan B. Anthony and the early feminists understood, as Carly Fiorina does, that undermining the rights of one never advances the rights of another."

    A big blow to Chuck DeVore

  • State Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R) has three weeks to bring up his poll numbers or he risks becoming irrelevant in the three-way race for the California Republican Senate nomination, according to the Los Angeles Times.

    DeVore has garnered the support of national conservative and Tea Party groups, as did Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) during his run, but that hasn't translated into a surge in campaign donations or support in the polls. He raised some $625,000 in the first quarter, but had only $411,000 banked at the end of March. In a recent Los Angeles Times/USC poll, he had the support of only 9 percent of likely GOP primary voters.

    DeVore attributed his poor poll numbers to his title as state assemblyman.

  • Former "Jon and Kate Plus 8" stars Jon and Kate Gosselin are heading back to the classroom — at least for a day. According to a new report from TMZ, both parents are being required by Berks County, Pennsylvania to attend a three-hour class entitled "Children in the Middle." The class is a requirement for divorced couples in the midst of the heated custody battle — primarily to remind them of their priorities.

    For the sake of entertainment, the sad news is that both Jon and Kate are not forced to attend the class at the same time. Therefore, you can probably expect them to show up, take the class, and leave without too much public attention.
    +++++++
    And, what about Kate's book?

  • Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) declared a comprehensive immigration bill dead on arrival if the government does not first do more to secure its borders.

    Graham tangled with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano during a Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday about the administration’s desire to pass an immigration measure this year.

    “I would bet you everything I own that the 2007 [immigration] bill wouldn’t pass this year,” Graham told Napolitano, predicting that the administration will “crash and burn” if it moves forward with a plan to push immigration legislation through Congress before the November elections.

    “If immigration comes up this year, it will be absolutely devastating to this issue” and future passage of a comprehensive bill, Graham insisted. “Most Americans think we will have lost our minds if we move forward without securing our border first.”

    Protecting McCain's ass are we?

  • States certainly have the right to enact policies to protect their citizens, but Arizona’s policy shows the difficulty and limitations of states trying to act piecemeal to solve what is a serious federal problem. From what I have read in news reports, I do have concerns about this legislation. While I don’t believe Arizona’s policy was based on anything other than trying to get a handle on our broken borders, I think aspects of the law, especially that dealing with ‘reasonable suspicion,’ are going to put our law enforcement officers in an incredibly difficult position. It could also unreasonably single out people who are here legally, including many American citizens. Throughout American history and throughout this administration we have seen that when government is given an inch it takes a mile.

  • The law requires police to check with federal authorities on a person's immigration status, if officers have stopped that person for some legitimate reason and come to suspect that he or she might be in the U.S. illegally. The heart of the law is this provision: "For any lawful contact made by a law enforcement official or a law enforcement agency…where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of the person…"

  • Too many American children do not receive recommended childhood vaccines for illnesses such as polio, measles, mumps, diphtheria and pertussis that were once thought to have been eradicated but are making a comeback in some areas. According to data from 2008, almost one-quarter of children ages 19 months to 35 months did not receive the recommended vaccinations.

    On Tuesday, the American Academy of Pediatrics — perhaps frustrated with the stubborn anti-vaccine tide in the United States — unveiled a new public health campaign called Protect Tomorrow that "brings to life the memories of the terrible diseases of the past and reminds parents that, unless they are vaccinated, infants and children are at risk for contracting infectious diseases that can lead to hospitalization, disability and even death," according to a statement from the organization.
    +++++++
    All of my children were vaccinated as I was. And, I had chicken pox at age 30 before the vaccine was available.

  • A damning health care report generated by actuaries at the Health and Human Services (HHS) Department was given to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius more than a week before the health care vote. She hid the report from the public until a month after democrats rammed their nationalized health care bill through Congress.

    The results from the report were troubling. The report released by Medicare and Medicaid actuaries shows that medical costs will skyrocket rising $389 billion 10 years. 14 million will lose their employer-based coverage. Millions of Americans will be left without insurance. And, millions more may be dumped into the already overwhelmed Medicaid system. 4 million American families will be hit with tax penalties under this new law.

chuckdevoretweets CA Sen: Chuck DeVore Preparing to Run for Irvine City Council?

Termed out California Assemblyman Chuck DeVore

Apparently the word is out on the street – Chuck DeVore is throwing in the towel and looking forward to his next race – Irvine Mayor or City Council.
I attended the Irvine Chamber of Commerce’s breakfast with the Mayor event last Friday.  I ran into a number of Irvine community leaders and more than a few of them asked me what I knew about Chuck DeVore running for city council or running for Mayor when he loses the Republican primary for US Senate in a few months like the decision was a done deal.  While the office is a step down for Chuck’s lofty asiprations of being elected to statewide or federal office representing California, he’ll be termed out in the Assembly and will need a job to continue a political platform to run for something else — governeror, Lt. governor, or some other statewide office.

This appears consistent with the polling in this race, plus political chatter and the fact that his Direcor of Communications, Joshua Trevino, was AWOL from the California Republican Convention earlier in March (presumably job hunting at SXSW).

But, Chuck may have a problem with running again for any position. He must successful defend the charge he misused his State of California staff for his U.S. Senate campaign.

Good luck with that……..

How will this revelation affect the Republican U.S. Senate Primary election in June?

Well, voters can focus on the fact that Chuck Devore IS just another scum-sucking politician running from office to office. And, conservatives, will realize that DeVore has never been serious about this campaign, will turn away and vote for Carly Fiorina since Tom Campbell has always been a left-leaning RINO.

The union organizers of SEIU don’t want to be seen, Chris. They need to hide behind the balaclavas or their friends in the Democratic Party LEFT.

Some of the leaders of today’s union movement, dream of the struggles of over fifty years ago. But, they forget:

Soviet Communism FAILED
