Day By Day by Chris Muir

Chris, it sounds like President Obama in playing the race card wants to ensure his re-election prospects in 2012. Obama certainly has done nothing for the incumbent Democrat Congressional Members who will be scrambling for their political lives in just a few short months.

Interestingly enough, the President received the same percentage of white American voters as did John Kerry did in 2004. Obama beat McCain with a 3 per cent increase in African American voters and a flip of Hispanic voters in some key states.

Do Americans realize that it is in Obama’s interest to fire up his base to assure they turn out and vote?

And, how do these voters feel about voting for candidates based on their race, color and ethnicity versus their character and political policies?

I guess we will see in November.

  • The Indiana Senate race Tuesday night did not contain good news for Chuck DeVore — the Tea Party-blessed GOP candidate for Senate in California, who we wrote about in today's dead tree edition. There in Hoosierland, the Tea Party-blessed candidate Marlin Stutzman lost, finishing second behind GOP "establishment" candidate Dan Coats

The significance: Chuck D touts his blessing from the Senate Conservatives Fund, which is fronted by Sen. Jim DeMint, R-SC. Only a few conservatives in the country have received such a Tea-soaked endorsement. The difference: The Conservative Fund raised $200,000 for Stutzman — while campaign finance reports show that the Fund has only given Chuck D $10,500.

  • Marty Wilson, the campaign czar for Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina, received an invitation he wasn't expecting Tuesday: An invitation to Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer's San Francisco fundraiser — featuring President Obama.

The May 25 event at the Fairmont Hotel begins with a 4:30 p.m. cocktail reception. You know what they say, it's always, uh, 4:30 p.m. somewhere. On a Tuesday. The "photo reception and dinner" begins at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Ann and Gordon Getty in S.F.

Chris, one can argue that President Obama’s anti-terrorism policy has been a failure but you will never hear it from his friends in the mainstream press.

Actually, America has been damn lucky that the terrorist bombers have been incompetent fools. Otherwise, we would have had a couple of lethal incidents.

Not to beat a dead horse or conjure up President Bush, but had these security failures been in 2006 or 2007 the press would have been all over the President. What a difference a few years make.

  • The United States has 5,113 nuclear warheads in its stockpile and many thousands more that have been retired and are awaiting dismantling, according to a senior defense official.

The release of the number of warheads marks only the second time in U.S. history the government has released the once top secret information.

The Pentagon statistics show the nuclear stockpile was reduced by 75 percent between the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and September 30, 2009, and 84 percent since its peak of more than 31,255 in 1967.

The 5,113 warheads include active and inactive ones, according to the senior defense official.

Probably not a smart move by the Obama Administration to give America's enemies information

home020067218 CA Sen: California Pro Life Council Endorses Carly Fiorina
California Pro-Life Council

The San Francisco Chronicle had the first mention last night of the endorsement.
Just got this scoop from California Pro Life Council czar Brian Johnston: The organization will endorse Carly Fiorina Tuesday over Orange County Assemblyman Chuck DeVore.

This is a big deal in conservative circles, as this is California’s largest single-issue pro-life group. When Fiorina got the nod recently from the Susan B Anthony Candidate List — think of it as the anti-Emily’s List — Team DeVore dismissed it as a DC-oriented group.(They’re also going to kick Carly $200,000, they told me.) Don’t worry, predicted Team DeVore, California pro-lifers would be behind the rock-ribbed conservative DeVore.

But this pro-life group, the California affiliate of the National Right to Life organization, isn’t. And the reason has to do with one thing: They think Fiorina has a better shot at winning. In the June primary and in the fall.

And, then, Jon Fleischman just posted the official endorsement statement.

This will be a significant endorsement for Carly Fiorina. Having been branded by Chuck Devore as a closet pro-choicer on abortion and a non-conservative moderate RINO, this should help dispel the misstatements.

Plus, the $200K campaign cash donation will help fuel Fiorina mailers in the last few weeks of the campaign.
