0616102193031 Day By Day June 16, 2010 Spill It

Day By Day by Chris Muir

With the obviously weak response by President Obama to the BP Oil Spill, his Administration is spinning out of control.
Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Howard Fineman react to President Obama’s Oval Office Address on the oil spill. Here are the highlights of what the trio said:

Olbermann: “It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days.”

Matthews compared Obama to Carter.

Olbermann: “Nothing specific at all was said.”

Matthews: “No direction.”

Howard Fineman: “He wasn’t specific enough.”

Olbermann: “I don’t think he aimed low, I don’t think he aimed at all. It’s startling.”

Howard Fineman: Obama should be acting like a “commander-in-chief.”

Matthews: Ludicrous that he keeps saying [Secretary of Energy] Chu has a Nobel prize. “I’ll barf if he does it one more time.”

Matthews: “A lot of meritocracy, a lot of blue ribbon talk.”

Matthews: “I don’t sense executive command.”

When the LEFT and the LEFT media sense a lack of executive command and ability with one of their own, you are in trouble -  just like Jimmy Carter and the Iranian Hostage Crisis in the late 1970′s.

Will this Oil Spill be the Obama Administration’s undoing?

It looks like the beginning of the end.

  • Our new Louisiana poll has a lot of data points to show how unhappy voters in the state are with Barack Obama's handling of the oil spill but one perhaps sums it up better than anything else- a majority of voters there think George W. Bush did a better job with Katrina than Obama's done dealing with the spill.

50% of voters in the state, even including 31% of Democrats, give Bush higher marks on that question compared to 35% who pick Obama.

Overall only 32% of Louisianans approve of how Obama has handled the spill to 62% who disapprove. 34% of those polled say they approved of how Bush dealt with Katrina to 58% who disapproved.

  • Editor’s Note: About a month ago, we received a list of names of people connected to the UltimateBet super-user cheating scandal. Much of that information can now be found on 2+2 here.

Since then, we received substantial and substantive information that helped validate some of the data that appears in those documents, while disproving other data. We conducted a wide-range of interviews with well-informed sources connected to the investigation, high-level and connected industry figures, and high-stakes poker players that had varying degrees of knowledge (ranging from ”intimate” to “was directly cheated by Russ Hamilton”) about the scandal.
Eventually, a consistent story formed about who built the super-user cheating software, who else might have known about the cheating scam, and who exactly were the super-users.

Some of this information has, in some shape or form, been discussed through great investigative work by the likes of Nat Arem, Haley Hintze, and others

  • Tom Campbell still would have lost his Republican primary for U.S. Senate even if he didn't support gay marriage, according to a survey of GOP voters. But he probably wouldn’t have been trounced as badly as he was.

That’s the conclusion of a poll commissioned by the National Organization for Marriage, a group opposing same-sex marriage that ran an ad campaign targeting Campbell on the issue.

Even though most voters didn’t know Campbell’s position, there was a significant minority who did. The poll showed that the latter turned against Campbell in large numbers.

The post-election poll of 300 GOP primary voters found that those who voted for Campbell’s opponents were more aware of his gay-marriage stand. Of the voters who supported Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, R-Irvine, or former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, three in 10 said Campbell’s opposition to Proposition 8 was a factor in their decision.

    Why, of course it did.

  • I think we’ll know very soon if this CrossTarget poll of the California Senate race is an outlier, or whether Carly Fiorina has gotten enough of a bump from her primary win to make this a neck-and-neck race with Barbara Boxer.

    Boxer 46.5%

    Fiorina 47.0%

    Undecided 6.5%

Rasmussen had Boxer by 5, but the incumbent’s lead has been pretty marginal in most recent polls: 6, 3, 9, 4, 7, 1.

And if Barbara Boxer really is in trouble… well, the Democrats had better run and hide in the rest of the country.

  • Last fall, Speaker Nancy Pelosi moved her district office into the new federal building in San Francisco. The move quadrupled the rent she pays, and her new $18,736 monthly bill is almost double the next-highest rental paid by a Member of the House.

A database assembled by the Sunlight Foundation in cooperation with Roll Call provides new insight into Congressional spending on district office rents. Not surprisingly, Members from large urban districts with the highest property values are paying the most for district office rental, particularly New York–area Members.

But even in these high-rent districts, Pelosi’s new digs blow away the competition.

The next highest monthly office rent belongs to Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D), who occupies an office in a federal building in Manhattan’s trendy SoHo neighborhood for just under $10,600.

Thanks for cutting back Nancy. This is total BS.

  • If you want to see where President Barack Obama’s response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster is heading, try following the urgings of the Center for American Progress.

The liberal think tank with close White House ties appears to have more influence on spill policy than the president’s in-house advisers. On May 4, for instance, the CAP’s energy and environment expert, Daniel Weiss, called on the president to name an independent commission to look at the causes of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. On May 22, he did just that.

Well, It is not shocking and Obama and Axelrod do not have the ability to lead – ONLY follow the LEFT

  • Consider "Boobgate" officially closed.

Sarah Palin broke her silence over recent Internet rumors that the former former GOP vice presidential candidate had breast-enlargement surgery in an interview with Fox News Friday.

For the record, Palin says she's 100% natural.

"Nooo, I have not had implants," said Palin. "I think a report like that is about as real and truthful that Todd and I are divorcing or that I bought a place in the Hamptons or that Trig is not my own child.

"And we still put up with that garbage, too."

Speculation was rampant after photos of the former Alaskan governor at the Belmont Stakes showed her looking a little more buxom than usual.

"'Boobgate' is all over the Internet, because there are a lot of bored, idle bloggers and reporters with nothing else to talk about," Palin said in the interview.

  • Barack Obama told The Politico this morning that the Gulf oil spill was like 9-11.

Then he went golfing for 4 hours.

    The Hill reported:

President Barack Obama spent four hours on the golf course Sunday in temperatures that peaked in the low 90s.

The White House pool reported that they left Andrews Air Force Base as it started to rain after 4 p.m.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood was among the group golfing with Obama.

    Leadership.

A college student reporter ask the simple question: “Do you fully support the Obama agenda?”

This MORON can kiss his political ass good bye. In fact, Rep. Bob Etheridge should be charged with assault and battery and thrown in jail.

The conversation:

Student: “Hi Congressman.”
Etheridge: “Hi.”
Student: “How are you?”
Student: “Do you fully support the Obama agenda?”
Etheridge: “Who are you?, Who are you?” (Etheridge goes beserk and proceeds to assault the student. He then grabs the student and won’t let go.)
Etheridge: “Who are you?, Who are you?” “Tell me who you are.”
Student: “Just here for a project sir.”
Etheridge: “Tell me who you are.”
Student: We’re just here for a project.”
Etheridge: “I don’t care.” (still holding the wrist of the student)
Student: “Will you please let go of my hand.”
Etheridge: “Tell me who you are.”
Student: “I’m just a student sir.”
Etheridge: “From?”
Student: “We’re just students”
Etheridge: “I have a right to know who you are.”
Student: “All we are are students.”
Student: “We’re in a public place.”
Etheridge: “So am I. Who are you? Who are you?”
Student: “Please let go of my arm.”
Etheridge: “Who are you?” (then grabs the back of the students neck and pulls him close to him.)
Student: “Sir, sir, sir, please sir.”
Etheridge: “Who are you?” (Student breaks free).

It makes NO difference who the students were or who sent them. This is unacceptable behavior and a crime.

Who cares about an apology?
