8charlesanddavidkoch232 Charles and David Koch: Covert Operations?

Charles and David Koch of Koch Industries MIT-trained brothers turned family oil refining firm into America’s second largest private company. Koch Industries has stakes in pipelines, refineries, fertilizer, fibers and polymers, forest and consumer products, chemical technology. Sales in 2008: $110 billion. Brothers each own 42% of company. Employs 80,000 people and operates in 60 countries.

The New Yorker does a hit piece against these billionaire titans of business and industry. Their company, Koch Industries, website is here.

As if earning and spending your OWN money in order to influence public opinion is a crime or something.

And, the title is extremely misleading because the Kochs’ opposition to the Far Left Anti-Capitalism Agenda of the Democrats and specifically President Barack Obama is widely known.

Oh yeah and the writer had to mention that their father was a founding member of the John Birch Society. Well, Non-Reagan, I mean Ron Reagan’s father was a Republican President, too.

U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina makes luncheon address at California Republican Party’s Fall 2010 Convention. FlashReport Publisher Jon Fleischman filmed parts of it…

Thanks to Jon Fleischman for the video.

Here are excerpts of the speech.

U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina will today deliver the luncheon keynote speech at the California Republican Party Convention in San Diego. Her remarks will discuss her commitment to taking back control of Washington from career politicians like Barbara Boxer who have become increasingly out of touch with the real world and out of reach from the constituents they were elected to represent.

Below are excerpts of her remarks as prepared:

I’m glad to be here with you all at this Barbara Boxer farewell party. Together, we will defeat her and put an end to her extreme, partisan and costly reign over 28 long years in Washington.

People go to Washington and stay there way too long. The old saying that people go to Washington to do good and stay to do well is a statement that is both sad and true.

Think about this: Barbara Boxer has been in office for 34 years. That’s longer than most Californians have been alive – literally a lifetime.

For 34 years, at the taxpayers’ expense, she has been a bitter partisan who has said much but achieved little. She gets an “A” for politics and an “F” for achievement.

Let me ask you this: do you think the people of California really want to extend Barbara Boxer’s employment contract to 40 years?

In contrast, Barbara Boxer is a lifetime politician who comes from the world of government – a world where she spends other people’s money – where productivity is never measured and where profits are not a factor.

To be blunt, for four decades, she has earned her keep not by the sweat of her brow, but by the toil and struggle of hard-working Americans in the private sector. And her left-wing ideology allows her to avoid agonizing over tough decisions.

In kneejerk fashion, if it’s higher taxes, she supports them. If it’s bigger government, she votes yes. If it’s more regulation, no problem. If it’s a weakened military and isolationism, that’s her preference.

I will go to the Senate to fight for the millions of Californians who love their country, go about their business, pay their dues and serve their communities. They don’t look for frills or favors. They give a lot and expect little.

They know that the Washington team is losing and needs new players. They are asking for one simple thing: that we take our government back, make it listen and make it work.

Time to retire Senator Barbara Boxer.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Ahhhh appearances, right, Chris?

Look at the $578 Million new school in Los Angeles Unified School District.

Next month’s opening of the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools will be auspicious for a reason other than its both storied and infamous history as the former Ambassador Hotel, where the Democratic presidential contender was assassinated in 1968.

With an eye-popping price tag of $578 million, it will mark the inauguration of the nation’s most expensive public school ever.

The K-12 complex to house 4,200 students has raised eyebrows across the country as the creme de la creme of “Taj Mahal” schools, $100 million-plus campuses boasting both architectural panache and deluxe amenities.

The fact is California’s budget cannot afford such largess. Bonded indebteness pays for these schools and with the success rate of Los Angeles Unified (very high drop out rate) it is doubtful that the interest on the debt service will be easily paid in future years – leaving the tab to other non-Los Angeles California taxpayers.

California’s public schools are a disaster because of the teacher’s unions and their involvement in the political process. Illegal immigration is also playing a big role in the decline.

One of these days, California taxpayers may wise up – or move out.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Yes, Chris, we have the Obama “Hope and Change” borrow needlessly against the future signs here in California – right on the U.S. 101. A needless bridge overpass is being constructed with federal money.

You know the bridge overpass should have been constructed years ago and the cost exacted from the developers who made millions in the housing tracts adjacent to the on and off ramps. But, the land at this time was in Los Angeles County hands and some well-placed campaign contributions probably blocked the exaction.

Interesting though the sign at the base does not have a large, BOLD disclaimer: Made in China – since this is where the funds are coming from.
