CA-Sen Poll Watch: Carly Fiorina 48% Vs. Barbara Boxer 47%

Republican Nominee Carly Fiorina and California Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer
The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters, including leaners, shows Fiorina picking up 48% of the vote, while Boxer draws support from 47%. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and three percent (3%) remain undecided. These numbers show a slight shift from results with leaners found two weeks ago, when Boxer led Fiorina 49% to 44%. Leaners are those who initially indicate no preference for either of the candidates but answer a follow-up question and say they are leaning towards a particular candidate. From this point forward, Rasmussen Reports considers results with leaners the primary indicator of the race.
This contest continues to be a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.
Results before leaners are added show Fiorina with a 47% to 42% lead over Boxer. Two weeks ago, the candidates were in a virtual tie when voters were asked their initial preference.
Since February, Boxer’s support has ranged from 42% to 49%. In those same surveys, Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, has earned 38% to 43% of the vote.
Seventy-four percent (74%) of Fiorina voters are already certain of how they will vote this November, as are 69% of those who support Boxer, a member of the Senate since 1993.
Let the television media wars begin.
I still cannot help but think that Carly is benefitting from Meg Whitman’s plethora of ads attacking Democrat Attorney General and former California Governor Jerry Brown.
This race will go down to the wire with Fiorina winning by 3 points as GOP, and anti-incumbent Decline to State turnout soars.
