Poll Watch: JFK Still Highest Rated Modern President While Tricky Dick Nixon is the Lowest

No real surprise here, especially with the fall of Jimmy Carter who should be at the bottom anyway.

Of the nine U.S. presidents who have served in the past 50 years, John F. Kennedy continues to earn the highest retrospective job approval rating from Americans, now 85%. Ronald Reagan ranks second, with 74%. While these presidents’ ratings are largely unchanged from 2006, Bill Clinton’s rating has improved, putting him in third place, while Jimmy Carter, at 52%, has dropped from third to sixth. Richard Nixon remains the lowest rated.

I disagree where W is in relation to Carter and LBJ. Those two Democrats were downright horrible. History will judge the second Bush better over time.

Obama and GOP Reach Deal on Two-Year Extension of Bush Tax Cuts for All Incomes

“President Obama and congressional Republicans have reached a tentative deal to extend the Bush tax cuts for all income levels and are presenting the proposal to congressional Democrats Monday afternoon, The Daily Caller has learned.

    • The deal will extend the current tax levels for two more years, preventing taxes from going up on any income levels, despite the wishes of many liberal Democrats — including Obama — that individuals making more than $200,000 a year and families with more than $250,000 a year in income see their rates go up.

    • In exchange, Republicans have agreed to extend unemployment insurance benefits for an additional 13 months.

    • Obama presented the proposal to Democratic congressional leaders at the White House Monday afternoon, seeking to obtain their approval for the deal.

    • A House Democratic leadership source cautioned that the full party caucus will need to give their approval to any deal, which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, will likely present to them at a Tuesday evening meeting.

    • Other details include a temporary two percent reduction in payroll taxes to replace Obama’s “Making Work Pay” tax credit from the 2009 stimulus bill, and a compromise on the estate tax, which will be set for two years at 35 percent, with a $5 million exemption amount.

    • The tax rate for capital gains and dividends will be maintained at 15 percent. “

The Democratic LEFT will NOT be happy with this deal. But, American business can breathe a sigh of relief and so can the American public.

President Obama has gone back on his campaign promises and compromised a great deal.

Jeb Bush Says He Doesn’t Agree with Arizona’s Immigration Law Meaning He Will Never Run for President

"Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said if his children walked the streets of Phoenix they might look awfully suspicious to police. His wife, Columba, is from Mexico.

Harvard professor Robert Putnam told the same crowd of city officials from across the country at the Denver Convention Center on Saturday that his grandchildren might likewise draw suspicions. His daughter married a Latino man, he said.

"I think it’s not right that they could be picked up just because of the way they look," Putnam said.

Bush and Putnam spoke and then fielded questions at a National League of Cities convention about immigration issues, including the controversial Arizona immigration law.

The law aims to detain, prosecute and deport illegal immigrants. The federal government has won an injunction blocking parts of the law, including a section requiring police to question the immigration status of those they suspect are in the country illegally. Arizona has appealed.

A group of conservative lawmakers in Colorado is considering introducing an Arizona- style immigration bill in the legislature in January.

Bush, the brother and son of former Republican presidents, quipped that it was obvious he was not running for office, noting that his views differed from those of most of his Republican colleagues.

While he is sympathetic to the plight of Arizona officials forced to deal with all the problems linked to a porous frontier, he believes there are solutions other than a law criminalizing illegal immigrants, he said. "It’s the wrong approach," he said. "The net result is not much has been done.""

Jeb Bush as was his brother President George W. Bush supports open border type of amnesty for illegal aliens. Jeb is out of touch with much of the GOP which wants the Mexican border secure before considering anything more on immigration law.

Jeb is right about not seeking office because he would not gain the GOP nomination for President with this position.

I have met Jeb and he is a nice guy but woefully misguided here..

  • Republican National Committee,  Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin Passes on RNC Chairmanship Run

As I said before – from ABC News.

Sarah Palin isn’t running…for one job at least.  She doesn’t appear to be a candidate to Chair the Republican National Committee.

The activist group Tea Party Nation, planned on sending a letter to Palin pleading for her to run.

“We need you as Chairman of the RNC. You have shown in the past no hesitation to take on the establishment,” reads a draft of the letter posted on the Tea Party Nation web-site. “You did it in Alaska. If we end up with establishment control of the GOP and their support for an establishment candidate in 2012, Obama and the socialists will have won.”

But in an exclusive written statement to ABC News, Palin says:

“I respect the desire to have someone in charge of the RNC who understands the wishes of the conservative grassroots and understands that power resides with the people and not the vested interests in DC. However, the primary role of the RNC chair seems be that of fundraiser-in-chief, and there are others who would probably be much more comfortable asking people for money than I would be, and they would definitely enjoy it more.”

A thanks but NO thanks. End of story.

California Proposition 8: Arguments Before Court Go Well Beyond Gay Marriage

"A federal appeals court on Monday began hearing arguments on the constitutionality of Prop. 8, California’s ban on same-sex marriage.

Barry P. McDonald, a professor at the Pepperdine School of Law, says the issues being made in court go well beyond the questions of marriage. Here’s an analysis he provided to The Times:

Both parties on this appeal seem to be arguing about much broader issues than this case presents. As the California Supreme Court framed the issue in its decision on the constitutionality of Prop. 8 under the state Constitution, it is whether withholding the official name or designation of "marriage" to same-sex couples is constitutional when state law has given those couples all the rights and obligations of marriage (including parental rights) under its domestic partnership laws. That is a much different question than whether denying the right to marry altogether is constitutional.

It presents the narrower issue of whether there is a legitimate basis for withholding the name "marriage" when all other rights and obligations have been granted. As to this question, at least two answers might be offered. One answer might be that it is clearly irrational and relegates same-sex couples to second-class status. Another answer might be that the people of California have a right to experiment in this area and that it is not an "all or nothing" proposition (no pun intended). In other words, the people want to give same-sex couples all the rights and obligations of marriage but also want to see what effect that will have on society and children raised in same-sex households before they "finalize" this arrangement by making absolutely no distinctions between traditional and same-sex marriage."

    Read the entire piece here.

Whatever is decided today, standing to appeal or not, the issue of gay marraige will be ultimately decided by the Supreme Court of the United States.

Politically, should SCOTUS allow nationwide gay marriage, I would think there would be an attempt to pass a U.S. Constitutional amendment limiting the power to grant gay mariage to the states or prohibing it entirely.

This issue may persist for years in the courts, Congress and the voting booth.

  • Oil

Poll Watch: Most Say Continuing Offshore Ban Will Hurt Economy

"The Obama administration announced last week that it is continuing the ban on offshore oil and gas drilling along the Eastern seaboard and in the eastern portion of the Gulf of Mexico. Most voters expect that decision to drive up gas prices and hurt the economy.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 54% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the new seven-year ban will increase gas prices, while just 11% think it will make gas prices go down. Twenty-five percent (25%) expect the ban to have no impact on prices at the pump.

Similarly, only 15% of voters feel the ban is good for the economy. Fifty-four percent (54%) predict that it will be bad for the economy, but 20% say it will have no impact.

The administration lifted the long-standing ban on offshore drilling in March but almost immediately restored it following the BP oil leak disaster in the Gulf. The ban was lifted recently on drilling in the central and western portions of the Gulf but remains in the eastern Gulf and along the East Coast for at least seven years pending further study of what caused the BP leak. "

Why not resume drilling in all areas since the Gulf oli disaster was an accident and likely an outlier?

But, it is a no-brainer to think that this moratorium will NOT hurt the economy of this region.

  • Sarah Palin

Tea Party Group Wants Palin for RNC – Not Going to Happen

"Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips sent a letter to former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin asking her to run for chairwoman of the Republican National Committee.

"In order for the tea party, conservative movement to be successful, we have to have someone conservative running the GOP," Phillips told POLITICO. "She is the perfect candidate. If she does not try, I am afraid we will end up with just another establishment flunky running the party and the [Republicans in name] will control the party again."

" In his letter to Palin, Phillips pleaded, “We need you as [chairwoman] of the RNC. You have shown in the past no hesitation to take on the establishment. … If we end up with establishment control of the GOP and their support for an establishment candidate in 2012, Obama and the socialists will have won."

I don’t know what the rationale is behind this request but the LEFT is running with it this morning.

Sarah Palin will NOT be running for the RNC Chairmanship under any circumstances. Sarah is an "outsider" not a party partisan. The RNC chairmanship is the ultimate insider political job.

This entire exercise is just another attempt to paint the entire GOP as Sarah Palin.

    The GOP is not.

  • Mike Huckabee

Mike Huckabee wants some respect – Will He Run for President?

"Dial down the deafening Sarah Palin buzz for just a moment: The most consequential decision in the 2012 Republican presidential sweepstakes could be whether Mike Huckabee decides to run again – and associates say the former Arkansas governor may well take the plunge. (See: Huckabee mulls ‘pathway’ to 2012 win)

If Huckabee gets in, he will unquestionably be a force to be reckoned with in the fight for the nomination. He’d be the undisputed frontrunner in lead-off Iowa, where he won by nine points in 2008. He’d be the candidate to beat in South Carolina, which he narrowly lost to John McCain two years ago in part because of a divided conservative vote. His weekly Fox show, thrice-daily radio program and Grisham-like ability to crank out a book-per-year has given him a direct media presence akin to Palin’s – but without the sky-high negatives. (See: Rove to Palin, Huckabee: ‘Jump in’)"

The only way Micke Huckabee becomes a candidate for President is if Sarah Palin decides NOT to run. Huckabee has never been a good fundraiser and with Palin in the race will not have the money to run.

So, this story looks like another anti-Palin story coming out of DC by the Washington establishment.

If Sarah Palin does not run, the Presidential race is wide open and look for an unknown candidate to gather some momentum.

Hello, GOP Governors Mitch Daniels and Chris Christie

  • Unemployment Rate

Post-recession Unemployment ‘Scariest Ever’ Job Chart Show its Worst Than WW2

As US unemployment jumped to 9.8 per cent, it is a chart to chill the bones of any job hunter.

Comparing previous recoveries from all 10 American recessions since 1948 to the current financial crisis, the figures show almost no improvement in employment figures in the past year.

Some commentators have described the comparison as ‘the scariest jobs chart ever’, pointing to the fact that only the 2001 recession took longer to bring employment back to pre-crisis levels.

Number of months after peak employment

Number of months after peak employment

Even then, the total percentage of jobs lost bottomed out at two per cent, compared with six per cent this time round.

Unemployment is a MAJOR problem because President Obama and the Democratic dominated congress ignored the economy and busniess growth the last two years and instead pushed their far-left ideologies, including Cap and Tax and ObamaCare.

The Democrats paid the price last month and Obama may very well be voted out of office because of his gross negligence of matters financial.
