Mike Huckabee Poll Watch: Moving on UP in Iowa, NH, SC

Three ARG polls for this Friday morning in “early states” demonstrate the momentum. Huck-Mentum, moving Mike Huckabee forward in the GOP Presidential race.

Iowa:

  • Mitt Romney – 28% (26%, 11-10 thru 11-14)
  • Mike Huckabee – 27% (24%)
  • Fred Thompson – 14% (10%)
  • Rudy Giuliani – 9% (11%)
  • John McCain – 9% (10%)
  • Ron Paul – 3% (3%)
  • Undecided – 9% (13%)

Sample Size: 600 completed telephone interviews among a random sample of likely Republican caucus goers living in Iowa (512 Republicans and 88 no party (independent) voters).

Sample Dates: November 26-29, 2007

Margin of Error: ± 4 percentage points, 95% of the time, on questions where opinion is evenly split.

Incidence of Likely Republican Caucus Participation: 8.9% of Republican and no party voters.

New Hampshire:

  • Mitt Romney – 36% (30%, 10-26 thru 10-29)
  • Rudy Giuliani – 22% (23%)
  • Mike Huckabee – 13% (7%)
  • John McCain – 11% (17%)
  • Fred Thompson – 3% (5%)
  • Ron Paul – 2% (1%)
  • Undecided – 12% (?)

Sample Size: 600 completed telephone interviews among a random sample of likely Republican primary voters living in New Hampshire (466 Republicans and 134 undeclared (independent) voters).

Sample Dates: November 26-29, 2007

Margin of Error: ± 4 percentage points, 95% of the time, on questions where opinion is evenly split.

South Carolina:

  • Rudy Giuliani – 23% (23, 10-26 thru 10-29)
  • Mitt Romney – 21% (29%)
  • Mike Huckabee – 18% (5%)
  • Fred Thompson – 13% (10%)
  • John McCain – 10% (13%)
  • Ron Paul – 3% (4%)

Sample Size: 600 completed telephone interviews among a random sample of likely Republican primary voters living in South Carolina (500 Republicans and 100 independent voters).

Sample Dates: November 26-29, 2007

Margin of Error: ± 4 percentage points, 95% of the time, on questions where opinion is evenly split.

A good polling day for Mike Huckabee. Huckabee is moving up at the expense of Mitt Romney in Iowa, New Hamspshire and South Carolina where Evangelical Christian voters are prominent in the GOP.

Huckabee appears to be moving up at John McCain’s expense in New Hampshire. Remember McCain won the New Hampshire primary in 2000 against President Bush.

Watch for more attacks, particularly from the Romney camp (especially watch Romney hagiographer Hugh Hewitt) on Huckabee’s SoCon credentials – a constituency that Romney needs to win in early states.
