Do-Over Democrat Primary Election in Michigan Likely Won’t Happen?

Democratic presidential hopeful, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., cups her ear as she listens to a reporter’s question after she spoke about Iraq, Tuesday, March 18, 2008, in Philadelphia.

Will Michigan have a re-do Democrat Primary election on June 3rd?

Not likely because there is not a majority of Michigan State Senators to approve the legislation authorizing it.

It’s appearing more and more likely there will not be a re-do of the Democratic presidential primary election. WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick reports state Senate Democrats came out of a closed door meeting Tuesday morning and said there are not enough votes to approve a re-do.

Legislative approval is necessary for a re-vote to happen.

Speaking live on WWJ, Skubick said it would take a “miracle” to have the re-do approved, but he added it’s still possible.

There has been no comment from the Michigan Democratic Party. A spokesman said they are waiting to see what the legislature does.

And, look who is traveling to Michigan tomorrow to press for a new June election?

Hillary Clinton has scheduled a last-minute campaign stop in Detroit for Wednesday morning, a move the campaign says will spotlight Michigan’s efforts at a primary re-vote and keep the pressure on Barack Obama to consent to another election in the state.

The Wednesday morning event is billed as a routine “Solutions for America” campaign rally, but Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee said the trip is intended to put the focus squarely on Obama, who has resisted agreeing to re-votes in Florida and Michigan.

“The ball is in Obama’s court,” Elleithee said. “Senator Obama is in the way, so she’s going to go to Michigan to press the case personally.” In a conference call held earlier in the day, Clinton aide Phil Singer also said the ball was in Obama’s court.

Of course, Team Obama is stalling and will claim that Hillary is attempting to change the rules. However, eventually, Flap feels Obama will have no choice but to agree to this privately paid primary election plan on June 3rd.

By the way, in Michigan Republican voters can vote in this primary and you know the GOP will game the election, including Rush Limbaugh.

Advantage – Hillary.
