Hating Breitbart – The Documentary in Select Theaters Soon

Andrew Marcus's Hating Bretbart Movie Poster

    From the original press release:

Hating Breitbart, a feature-length documentary that takes an in-depth look at the final days of controversial New Media pioneer, Andrew Breitbart, who, before his untimely death earlier this year, became a conservative icon and one of the nation’s most influential political commentators; is set to hit theaters on October 12, 2012. Hating Breitbart will debut in exclusive engagements in Los Angeles, St. Louis, Dallas and Washington, D.C., with scheduled expansion to cities across the country in subsequent weeks.

But, as Ed Driscoll explains over at PJ Media, the release has been delayed – by a week.

The release of a documentary about deceased new-media provocateur Andrew Breitbart that was to open Friday has been delayed one week because of a rift between the filmmakers and the MPAA, which has rated the film R due to obscene language.

The movie, called Hating Breitbart, is largely about the subject’s battles against the mainstream media over the way it allegedly unfairly maligns the Tea Party movement. Clips of Anderson Cooper, Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, Bill Maher, Janeane Garofalo and others who call conservatives “teabaggers,” “racists” and other disparaging terms are used throughout the film.

The movie originally contained several uses of the F-word, which was routinely hurled at Breitbart when he’d show up at liberal gatherings. Breitbart also uses the word a few times in the film.

Under current MPAA guidelines, if a film uses “one of the harsher sexually derived words” — such as the F-word — more than a certain number of times, it receives an R rating. But the MPAA sometimes has made inconsistent rulings over language.

The MPAA gave Hating Breitbart an R rating last week, much to the dismay of director Andrew Marcus and distributors Rocky Mountain Pictures, who were hoping for a PG-13 rating. Marcus then cut out the offending word nine times but left in some that he deemed important to the integrity of the film. The MPAA still rated the film R.

One of the major disagreements comes near the beginning of the film and also can be seen in the film’s online trailer, when Breitbart looks at the camera and says: “What the left has stood for with political correctness is to try and get those with whom they disagree to shut up. … You’re gonna call us racist? You’re gonna call us potential Timothy McVeighs? F— you.”

In any case, I have a scheduled interview with Andrew Marcus scheduled in a few hours and we can delve into this issue and the making of his documentary.

In the meantime, here is the movie trailer:

    Breitbart.Com Relaunches

The many branches of the Andrew Breitbart “Big” websites have relaunched today under the umbrella of Breitbart.com.

Congrats to the new crew, who have taken up the mantle of the late Andrew Breitbart.

Congrats and kudos to Breitbart’s crew — Dana Loesch, Joel Pollak, Kurt Schlicter, John Nolte, Larry O’Connor, Liberty Chick, and the entire staff of editors and writers — for carrying the torch.

Carry on and keep kicking ass.

    I, especially, agree with Michelle’s last comment….

Day By Day March 2, 2012 – Think Big, America

Day By Day by Chris Muir

With Andrew Breitbart gone what will happen to his online empire?

Can you have Breitbart.com without Andrew Breitbart? The death Thursday of the combative online blogger and publisher leaves open the question of what will become of a thriving colony of conservative websites for which he was owner, prolific contributor and relentless salesman. Always the provocateur, Breitbart recently dangled the possibility that he had politically damaging videos of President Barack Obama from his early days. He used his websites to promote a hidden-camera video with actors posing as customers that led the downfall of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. He posted explicit photos of former Rep. Anthony Weiner that caused the New York congressman eventually to resign, but an edited video caused former U.S. Agriculture Department official Shirley Sherrod to resign over since-reversed perceptions she was a racist.

Breitbart was known for his showman instincts and waging war with liberals “but he really had a vision of the multimedia future that a lot of us do not possess,” said Republican strategist Jonathan Wilcox, who knew Breitbart and also teaches a course on politics and celebrity at the University of Southern California. The technology and staff are in place for websites, including Big Government and Big Journalism, to continue but “the superstar is not there … and that’s going to be the challenge going forward,” Wilcox said. Joel Pollak, a Breitbart editor, said a retooled website was in the works and would go forward. It wasn’t immediately clear who would take over the company, which once ran out of Breitbart’s basement and now employs about a dozen people. Pollak didn’t respond immediately to an email inquiring about the Obama videos.

My bet is that Breitbart had a succession plan and his sites will move on forward. As for Andrew, he will be hard to replace – ever!

  • Andrew Breitbart

In Memorium: Andrew Breitbart – R.I.P.

Andrew Breitbart was very young and will be missed.

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

    May he rest in peace.

Barack Obama, Jeremiah Wright and the American Journalism Obituary

President Barack Obama visits the White House press briefing room, January 2009

    Andrew Breitbart is RIGHT.

American journalism died a long time ago; today Tucker Carlson got around to running the obituary. What The Daily Caller has unearthed proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that most media organizations are either complicit by participation in the treachery that is Journolist, or are guilty of sitting back and watching Alinsky warfare being waged against all that challenged the progressive orthodoxy. The scandal predictably involves journalists posing as professors posing as experts. But dressed down they are nothing but street thugs. They deserve the deepest levels of public consternation. We must demand that they do.

The only way that the media will recover from the horrifyingdiscoveries found in the Journolist is to investigate and investigateuntil every guilty reporter, professor and institution is laid bare begging America for forgiveness. Will they do it?

Killing stories to benefit Barack Obama. What a shocker.

    NOT…….

Andrew Bretibart: Real Time With Bill Maher

Bill Maher Real Time | March 13 2009 | Andrew Breitbart and Michael Eric Dyson

Flap agrees with Andrew about confronting the FAR LEFT that the MORONIC Bill Maher so aptly represents.

Pretty much everyone I respect in media and politics recommended I not go on HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher.” But on Friday night, I defied that wisdom and had the time of my life.

I sparred with Mr. Maher, Georgetown professor Michael Eric Dyson and a MoveOn.org audience from hell that booed my sentences before they were completed. Unfortunately, my wife and in-laws, who watched from the green room, were not as enamored with the experience as I was.

Since the salad days of ABC’s “Politically Incorrect,” which minted countless right-wing pundits and best-selling authors, conservatives have rightly assessed the HBO version of the Maher show as R-rated and shockingly hostile to their worldview. So most opt out.

I totally see why. But I think that’s exactly the wrong strategy.

    So, let’s take them on…….
