NV-Sen GOP Poll Watch: Rep. Dean Heller Ready to Unseat Sen. John Ensign?

Nevada Rep Dean Heller speaking on House floor against ObamaCare

It certainly looks like it in this private, commissioned poll.

Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV) “all but telegraphed his intention” to challenge Sen. John Ensign (R-NV) in a GOP primary by giving Jon Ralston a poll he commissioned showing he leads the incumbent senator by double-digits, 53% to 38%.

“The survey, taken last month, is the strongest indication yet that Heller will take on Ensign — otherwise, I would not have these results because if he were not running, these numbers would never have seen the light of day. He took a poll to gauge his competitiveness, and these results have to have thrilled him.”

Yes, Heller will run and beat the ethics challenged Senator Ensign – if Ensign even runs for re-election. I doubt Ensign bothers to run.

Watch Sharron Angle manuver to run for Dean Heller’s Congressional seat.

Yes, Chris, the Obama gasping at the young girl’s ASSets is minor compared the Republican sex scandals as of late, including Senator John Ensign and Governor Mark Sanford.

When will these POLS learn that the are living like Hamsters in a “BUBBLE” like the Big Brother television show and are being watched 24/7?

When the GOP can rid itself of all of the malevolents and sexual perverts maybe they can start winning some more seats in the Congress.

Lastly, former GOP Senator Larry Craig with his shoe tapping in public restrooms was just weird.

Nevada United States Senator John Ensign Admits Extra-Marital Affair

Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev. speaks at a news conference at the Lloyd D. George Federal building, Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in Las Vegas. Ensign apologized for having an affair with a member of his campaign staff more than a year ago and says he remains ‘deeply committed’ to his service in the U.S. Senate. In Las Vegas on Tuesday, Ensign called the affair ‘absolutely the worst thing that I have ever done in my life,’ and said he and his wife sought counseling and reconciled

Another GOP 2012 Presidential hopeful bites the dust.

Nevada Republican Sen. John Ensign said Tuesday evening he is “truly sorry” about an affair he had last year with a campaign staffer, going public with an embarrassing admission about his marital infidelity.

The news certainly damages any hope Ensign has of running for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012 – he had fueled speculation about a presidential run with a recent visit to Iowa — and it may also hinder what has been a steady rise in Senate GOP leadership.

Political insiders in the Senate and in Nevada told POLITICO that Ensign began an affair with a staffer several months after he separated from his wife. When Ensign reconciled with his wife, the sources said, he gave the aide a severance package and parted ways.

I am glad he has reconciled with his wife but depending upon the details it is an open question whether Ensign will be able to reconcile this “affair” with the voters of Nevada.

Ad far as GOP leadership in the U.S. Senate or the Presidency – well, that is over.

The Mother of All Tax Increases Brought to You by the Democrats

The “mother of all tax increases” is already being proposed by Charles Rangel, D-NY, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Rangel does not forsee a vote on the total proposal this year.

Is this a preview of a Democrat administration featuring Hillary Clinton?

You betcha – TAX and Spend Redistribution of Income.

The bill will add a 4% surtax on Americans earning more than $150,000 a year ($200,000 for couples). That is on top of the scheduled expiration of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts. So, under Democrats’ plan, over the next few years, the individual income top tax rate in the will rise from 35% to 44%.

    Update:

Former New York City Mayor and GOP Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani just released comments on the Rangel proposal:

“We certainly shouldn’t raise taxes the way Charlie Rangel wants to … It would be devastating to our economy. … When the government takes more money out of it and takes it for the government to program the spending, it begins to diminish our economy. It puts a lid on it and then it begins to decline. Particularly, this suggestion today would be devastating to our economy – particularly the taxes that would reduce investment. … It makes no sense to be raising the rate on capital gains when we want more investment in this country. All we’re saying to people is go find some place else to invest. The corporate tax rate in America is the second highest in the world. The President of France wants to lower the corporate tax rate in France because France is losing money, and their rate is lower than ours. So we’ve got a group of Democrats who want to go to the left of France in our economic policy. It doesn’t make any sense. …”

    Stay tuned…….

Bob Kerrey Out of Nebraska Senate Race

Former Senator Bob Kerrey (left) and Former U.S. Sec. of Agriculture Mike Johanns

Senator John Ensign, R-Nevada (Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee), is breathing easier tonight since former Nebraska Democrat Governor and Senator Bob Kerrey announced today that he would not be entering the race for United States Senate. The seat is currently held by the retiring incumbent GOP Senator Chuck Hagel.

Former Nebraska Gov. Mike Johanns will seek the Republican nomination after resigning last month as U.S. Agriculture Secretary. Other GOP candidates may include state Attorney General Jon Bruning and Schuyler businessman Pat Flynn.

This will be one seat that should be secure for John Ensign and the GOP. He can now turn his attention to Virginia, New Mexico, Louisiana, Colorado et al..

The GOP has a tough 2008 campaign season and many hard races to defend in 2008.

John Ensign needs all the help he can get.
