Environments Plus Moves to Incentive Based Pay for Workers

    An Environments Plus Office

    From the press release:

Environments Plus, an office furniture service provider has announced an incentive based pay for its workers. The incentive plan seeks to bring added motivation to their employees and maximize the employee’s time on job sites. With this plan comes concern for Environments Plus profit margins.

“We want to be the best service provider in California. We know we will lose profit in this plan but overall we are strengthening the core of our company,” said Mark Cordell, President of Environments Plus. The plan hopes to eliminate man-hours on job sites and become more cost-efficient for their clients.

Environments Plus hopes to increase sales with this new incentive based plan which rewards their employees for less man-hours that was quoted for the job and a bonus for handling the furniture with care. If no damage is done to the furniture during a job, the employees are given a bonus. These incentives increase cost-efficiency as well as a commitment to detail.

Environments Plus hopes to spark a new trend in manual labor around the country. “In any job, added incentives almost always bring the most out of workers. I have a strong appreciation for manual laborers and I wanted to give a little more motivation for the hard work they do,” said Cordell.

You know, I see the 405 freeway construction proceeding at lightening type speed and wonder if they are giving incentives to their workers as well. You betcha they are. Incentive based contracts get folks moving.

Wonder if we can enlist this type of incentive program for public education or government?

I probably wish for too much.
