CA-26: Who is Stalking Tony Strickland?

    Woman videotaping Tony Strickland

Unidentified woman in black videotaping California State Senator and GOP Congressional nominee Tony Strickland (in gray t-shirt)

    You remember the FLAP?

Well, who is tracking and stalking California State Senator and CA-26 Republican congressional candidate Tony Strickland?

Nobody is admitting it, but the national Democratic Party folks at the DCCC have a reputation of doing it. Now, is Brownley’s campaign paying for the deed?

Hard to say and it may be difficult to trace, but my best guess is that this activity would not be going on without Brownley’s direct approval.

Nobody has come forward to identify the young woman and some Democratic activists have taken to Twitter to say that the woman in Thousand Oaks – see her photo below was merely a parent at the children’s event.

Brownley Spy CA 26: Is Julia Brownley or the DCCC Stalking Tony Strickland?

Unidentified videographer at California State Senator Tony Strickland Children’s I.D. Event in Thousand Oaks, Saturday August 25, 2012

    WRONG.

You see the woman in the photo above and in this embedded video below was seen videotaping Senator Tony Strickland during his Ventura beach clean-up day on July 28th.

So, obviously, this woman is either a BIG fan of Tony Strickland, a paid operative of the DCCC or the Julia Brownley campaign or somebody with whom the police maybe wish to have a chat.

Here is the video of the mysterious woman in black:

    Anyone know this person?

I understand from good sources that this person has been seen videotaping at other Tony Strickland events. So, if anyone can identify her, please, let me know in the comments below.

What is the FLAP here – besides the fact that an elected official is being stalked?

Trackers or videographers are not uncommon in Congressional campaigns today. However, this was a Children’s I.D. Event.

Yesterday was NOT a Congressional campaign event, but a public service one in conjunction with Strickland’s California State Senate office. Why would the Brownley campaign want to be associated with such an obviously ridiculous observation? And, why involve the children?

If the Browney campaign was associated with yesterday’s stalker, they should apologize to the families of the children who were videotaped. If the DCCC was involved, then the Brownley campaign should tell them to exert some restraint.

Julia Brownley may be an LA Woman (from Santa Monica actually), but we don’t do politics like this in Thousand Oaks – because we aren’t LA.

Hey, California Assemblywoman Julia Brownley, is this person doing some political tracking of Senator Strickland for you? Again, anyone know this woman and for whom she is working?

Let me know in the comments below.

    Child Safety ID Kits

A free child ID event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Sat., Aug. 25 during the Kids Fun Zone at Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks, at Moorpark Road and Hillcrest Drive.

The event is sponsored by Sen. Tony Strickland’s office and the Thousand Oaks Police Department.

The free child ID and fingerprint kits take a few minutes to make and include copies of the child’s fingerprints and their parents’ contact information.

Parents keep the kits on hand and can turn them over to law enforcement in the case of a missing child or other emergency.

Yesterday was NOT a Congressional campaign event, but a public service one in conjunction with Strickland’s California State Senate office. Why would the Brownley campaign want to be associated with such an obviously ridiculous observation? And, why involve the children?

CA-26: Julia Brownley Channels the Koch Brothers to Raise Funds

Julia Brownley for Congress e-mail donation request

I just received this in the ol’ e-mail box from Julia Brownley who is running for Congress here in Ventura County.

Democrat Brownley is using scare tactics of the Koch Brothers and the Tea Party Caucus (whatever that is) to scare the campaign cash dollars out of her supporters.

The Koch Brothers are rich and right-leaning businessmen who do contribute to campaigns – so what? Many businessmen do – right and left.

But, you see Julia, is a LEFT-WING Ideologue who thinks that Nancy Pelosi and George Soros are OK buddies, but businessmen like David Koch and the grass-roots Tea Party are evil.

Just say NO to Julia Brownley and her Santa Monica extremism.

I will vote for Republican Tony Strickland.

Tony Strickland Calls Julia Brownley a LA Liberal in New Television Ad

    Julia Brownley and Nancy Pelosi

The Ventura County Cable television wars for the California Congressional District 26 have begun.

As you recall CA-26 features Republican California State Senator Tony Strickland versus Democratic Assemblywoman Julia Brownley. The Congressional District is a very “balanced” district and is competitive in the number of registered Republicans and Democrats. The seat of retiring GOP Congressman Elton Gallegly (essentially his seat with redistricting changes and numbering) will be highly contested in an expensive and nasty campaign.

Here is Tony Strickland’s first 30 second spot:

This is an ad that carries a number of themes and images – positive for Strickland and negative for Brownley – naturally.

Julia Brownley is a left-wing Democratic Assemblywoman who until recently lived in Santa Monica. She got her start in politics by winning a seat on the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education. She served three terms.

Julia Brownley when she filed to run for CA-26 a few months ago moved to Oak Park in Ventura County from her home in Santa Monica (outside the Congressional District).

Is Brownley a Los Angeles or LA Liberal?

More like a Santa Monica liberal – but nevertheless, close enough. Strickland successfully portrays Brownley as the “carpetbagger” that she is.

Then, there are the other issues and themes raised in the spot. The DCCC has already raised them in their post yesterday.

I will get into the weeds of their critique tomorrow.

Let me know in the comments below, what you think of the ad.

CA-26 Poll Watch: Julia Brownley Leading Tony Strickland?

California Democratic Assmeblywoman and CA-26 Congressional candidate Julia Brownley

According to a Democratic Party/consultant poll.

Assemblywoman Julia Brownley (D) led state Sen. Tony Strickland (R) in the race for the 26th district, according to a poll conducted for the Democrat’s campaign and obtained by Roll Call.

In a top pickup opportunity for Democrats, Brownley topped Strickland by 4 points, 48 percent to 44 percent, in the competitive battle for this open, Ventura County-based seat. While Brownley’s lead was within the margin of error, Democrats view this poll as a good sign for her in what could be among the closest House races in California.

It also found President Barack Obama ahead of presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, 50 percent to

45 percent, and Democrats ahead, 46 percent to 42 percent, in the generic Congressional ballot test.

And, if you believe this spin, I have a briide to sell you.

In any case, the 400 likely voter sample polling result showing Brownley up by 4 points was within the margin of error, which was 5.9 per cent.

Republican Tony Strickland has over a $ 1 million in cash on hand and Brownley has been AWOL in doing Ventura County events where she supposedly now lives after moving into the Congressional District from Santa Monica.

The carpetbagger Brownley is not going to receive a too warm a welcome in conservative Thousand Oaks and Camarillo. And, the Obama driven election turnout will be down from 2008 levels. In other words, the more Democratic vote of Ventura, Oxnard and Santa Paul will not be robust for Brownley.

By the way, if you are interested Republican California State Senator Tony Strickland is leading a Ventura beach clean up this weekend in the District.

CA-26: Julia Brownley and the “B” List

Julia Brownley Super PAC Ad CA 26: Democrat Super PAC Spending More for Julia Brownley

A screenshot from the first House Majority PAC television ad for Julia Brownley

Actually, Julia Brownley should be considered on the “C” List as compared to Ventura County Supervisors Steve Bennett and Linda Parks.

And the third is a candidate who dropped out before the race even began — Ventura County Supervisor Steve Bennett in the 26th District.

“When he withdraw, Democrats had to settle for a second-tier candidate,” said Brock McCleary of the NRCC. “I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you that I think Bennett would have stood a better chance.”

    The “C” list means CARPETBAGGER.

California State Senator Tony Strickland at least lives and is from Ventura County – something Julia Brownley will never be able to claim.

Tony Strickland Win Changes Outlook for CA-26

Tony Strickland CA 26: Fundraising Totals Show Republican Tony Strickland Far in the Lead

California State Senator Tony Strickland at January’s Congressional announcement

Tony Strickland’s victory in the California June Presidential Primary election this week has changed the outlook for the 26th Congressional District, according to Stuart Rothenberg.

Democrats avoided complete disaster by spending close to a million dollars to ensure Assemblywoman Julia Brownley made it into the top two. Brownley (26 percent) got a late start, represented just 16 percent of the congressional district and had to fend off Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks, who was running as an Independent and received 19 percent of the vote. But the race doesn’t get any easier for Democrats. State Sen. Tony Strickland (R) finished first on Tuesday with 45 percent and had over $700,000 in the bank on May 16. Given Strickland’s showing and Brownley’s need to get virtually all of Parks’ vote, we are moving this contest from Toss-Up/Tilt R to Lean Republican.

The Democrats are apt to throw lots of money behind California Democratic Assemblywoman Julia Brownley but the fact remains Brownley is a carpetbagger. She may have represented parts of Ventura County (gerrymandered parts of heavily Hispanic Oxnard), but until a few weeks before running, she lived in Santa Monica. She has moved to Oak Park, but Strickland and the GOP Super PACS will exploit this large hole in Brownley’s candidacy.

And, Strickland will have plenty of campaign cash to mail, run television and radio ads and run a social media campaign.

I really do not think this will be a close race.

    Strickland will win easily.

But, I fully expect the Democrats to throw everything at Strickland.

CA-26: Tony Strickland and Julia Brownley to Face Off in November

From the California Secretary of State

In one of California’s hotly contested Congressional races, the two major parties, fended off an independent No Party Preference candidate, Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks.

When the dust settled, Republican California State Senator Tony Strickland was the top vote getter with around 44 per cent of the vote. Democrat Assemblywoman Julia Brownley finished second with almost 27 per cent. Parks finished third.

In the first test of the California top two election process, it was the two major, partisan parties who prevailed.

Underfunded and perhaps naive that money is not the “mothers milk of politics,” Linda Parks failed to break 20 per cent of the vote. Her mantra on being independent may play well in non-partisan races, but it failed to deliver last night.

Without reading too much into the results, since voter turnout will be greater in November, Republican Tony Strickland has to be considered the favorite.

But, the fall campaign which could determine the majority in the House of Representatives nationally will be hard-fought, expensive and brutal.

    Stay tuned…..

CA-26: Strickland Continues to Lead in Fundraising

Parks and Strickland CA 26: Handicapping Linda Parks and Tony Strickland

Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks (NP) and California State Senator Tony Strickland (R)

Timm Herdt over at the Ventura County Star has the poop on the fundraising numbers – Republican California State Senator Tony Strickland leads far and away.

Strickland had a pretty good week at fundraising last week, FEC reports show.

He took in more than $70,000, most in the form of contributions from members of Congress and conservative PACs, including House Speaker John Boehner ($4,000) and Rep. Paul Ryan’s Prosperity PAC ($2,500).

Meanwhile, Democrat Julia Brownley took in slightly over $20,000, led by contributions from AFSCME ($2,500), House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer ($2,000) and $2,000 each from county Democratic clubs in the Conejo Valley, Oxnard and Ojai.

The reports show that independent Linda Parks boosted her campaign with a $10,000 contribution to the campaign from her personal funds on May 2.

Ventura County Supervisor and No Party Preference candidate, Linda Parks, has been widely outspent by Strickland and Brownley. She accepts no contributions from PACS, although an independent SuperPAC has run some ads for her.

Will Parks approach work in the new top two format?

Will Republicans “GAME” the voting system and vote for Linda Parks to eliminate the Democrat, Brownley?

Well. stay tuned…..the election is tomorrow.

CA-26: Republicans Vote for Linda Parks Tomorrow

Linda Parks Republican CA 26: Is Linda Parks a Republican?

    From LindaParksRepublican.com

    Why not?

In California’s new top two election system, Ventura County voters can have either have a Far Left Democrat (Assemblywoman Julia Brownley) or a No Party Preference moderate in Ventura County Sueprvisor Linda Parks, face off with Republican Tony Strickland in November.

Brownley without hesitation will vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker and for every left-wing cause down the line.

Parks is a moderate and although more left than I would like will at least be approachable on issues. Not to say that Parks will vote more conservative, but who can be MORE left than Santa Monica resident (oh yeah Brownley just moved) Julia Brownley?

Conservative voters tomorrow have an opportunity for a two-fer. Strickland and Parks.

    Tomorrow vote for Linda Parks.
