Chris, certainly new media, including the blogs helped Scott Brown in his race for Massachuseets United States Senate. But, there were other factors in play here as well.

For example, an excellent well-spoken candidate; the Obama induced morose economy, the Obamacare legislative payoff to other states and the bungling candidacy of Martha Coakley.

Social new media though did help in a big way – by immediatley communicating Brown’s candidacy and Coakley’s missteps without the filter of the MSM.

With Republican Scott Brown’s upset victory over Democrat Martha Coakley for Teddy Kennedy’s Massachusetts U.S. Senate seat, it remains to be seen if President Obama will accede to the will of the people or proceed with business as usual. Without a 60 vote Democrat supermajority in the Senate, Harry Reid WILL have to deal with Mitch McConnell and the Republicans.

Will bipartisanship suddenly break out with some modest and scaled back health care reforms being adopted? Or will the far left of the Democrat Party force the issue and the entire Obamacare legislative package be scuttled?

Then, there are the political ramifications. How many Democrat incumbents in the House from red states or red leaning districts will now retire rather than fight for re-election. Filiong deadlines have not been reached in some 70 per cent of Congressional Districts.

Chris, a game of chicken is correct.

Who will blink first?

Obama or the Republicans?

there is NO doubt that today’s Massachusett’s special U.S. Senate election between Scott Brown, the Republican and Democrat Martha Coakley is a referendum on President Obama’s health care reform efforts. The President with his Sunday visit on behalf of Coakley validated the high stakes involved.

The latest polls have Scott Brown ahead.

• Of eight surveys completed and released since Wednesday, seven show Brown leading by at least a point. The one exception shows a dead heat Our chart of all polls shows a nearly seven point Brown gap between the trend lines for Brown and Coakley (51.2% to 44.3%).

• Browns’ support on our standard trend estimate has increased by nearly twelve points (from 38.5% to 51.2%) in just the last two weeks.

But, Republicans should not be complacent and have been working their GOTV efforts (Get Out the Vote).

Nationwide, Twitter followers have set up out of state phone banks to campaign on behalf of Scott Brown. And, there is a level of enthusiasm from the RIGHT that has not been apparent since 2006.

What are the ramifications of a Scott Brown victory today?

• Obamacare is DEAD
• GOP House and Senate recruitment and fundraising efforts to take control of Congress in 2010 will be intensified

The latest poll from the Massachusetts U.S. Senate race has Republican Scott Brown winning in tomorrow’s special election.

The final Public Policy Polling survey in Massachusetts finds Scott Brown (R) leading Martha Coakley (D), 51%
to 46%, an advantage that is within the margin of error for the poll.

Key finding: “56% of voters in the state think Brown has made a strong case for why he should be elected while just 41% say the same of Coakley. Even among  Coakley’s supporters only 73% think she’s made the argument for herself, while 94% of Brown’s supporters think he has.”

You know this poll must have some credibility since after President Obama’s visit for Democrat Martha Coakley yesterday, the Democrats started blaming President George W. Bush.

Now, it is down to the GOTV (Get Out the Vote) operations of both parties.

The large sucking sound you are hearing are Democrat voters leaving Massachusett’s U.S Senate Democrat candidate Martha Coakley to vote for Republican Scott Brown.

Can you believe that in a radio interview Martha Coakley riled up Boston Red Sox fans by calling Curt Schilling (a Scott Brown supporter and formerly of the Red Sox) a Yankee fan?

When Scott Brown wins this Tuesday, the next few sounds you will hear will be the wind going out of Nevada Senator and Democrat Senate Majority leader Harry Reid and Obamacare health care reform.

The Democrats and even President Obama are scrambling to save Democrat Martha Coakley. The latest polls are indicating that Republican Scott Brown has more than a better chance in scoring an electoral upset.

A weird evening. Within five minutes, two sources call, each one hearing through the grapevine the internals of one of the two major campaigns in Massachusetts.

One tells me that the most recent internal poll of the Scott Brown campaign shows the Republican winning by . . . 11 percentage points. I’m getting the sense that the folks hearing this are almost a little incredulous, but it seems every demographic and key group is breaking to Brown in the past day or two. For weeks, Brown and everyone around him has said they will campaign and work as if they’re 30 percentage points down. But it seems like the campaign has been one Coakley stumble after another, and you figure that would eventually start affecting the numbers. According to that measure, it’s starting to break heavily in Brown’s direction . . . but we’ll have to see what the final few days bring.

The second source heard through the grapevine that the Martha Coakley campaign’s internal poll shows the race . . . dead even. This would be more or less in line with a lot of the public polls (Rasmussen, PPP, Suffolk) and while a Republican would prefer to be ahead, has to like those odds with a furiously energized grassroots and bad weather coming next week.

Massachusett’s voters have not elected a Republican to the United States Senate since 1972. And, Democrats outnumber Republicans in the state by almost three to one.

We will see voter angst about the state of the nation very soon.

The Democrats and the Martha Coakley campaign are getting desperate to retain Ted Kennedy’s United States Senate seat in Massachusetts.

In the final days of the race for Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s seat, Ms. Coakley — the Democratic candidate, state attorney general and onetime shoo-in for victory — is on the defensive. Polls have suggested that Scott Brown, her Republican opponent and until recently a little-known state senator, is gaining traction with unaffiliated voters and even some Democrats, electrifying a race that had seemed blandly predictable.

With a crucial 60th vote in the Senate at stake, the perceived tightening has sent Democratic operatives scrambling to Massachusetts to help the Coakley campaign and has prompted groups on both sides of the aisle to bombard the state with advertising. Ms. Coakley forcefully attacked Mr. Brown this week, an unusual step for a front-runner, painting him as an acolyte of former President George W. Bush who is out of touch with the state’s values.

And, how about the Coakley aide shoving down the conservative journalist from The Weekly Standard?

Anatomy of a spin job gone bad. First, McCormack gets shoved — on video, with a photo showing Coakley standing right there. The Democrats’ Senate campaign arm then issues a statement calling it, surreally, some sort of Republican “dirty trick.” The AP duly answers the call of the home team by putting out a whitewashed account of what happened, insisting that McCormack merely stumbled before being helped to his feet by the kindly Democrat looming over him. Then it’s Coakley’s turn to insist that she’s “not privy to the facts” of what happened despite the photo showing her looking right at McCormack as he hit the ground.

Finally, inevitably, with all spin angles crushed by the documentary evidence, the obligatory apology is issued.

You know what they say about ABSOLUTE power….. and the LEFT’S attempt to hold it.
