Howard Dean: “Right Wing” Supreme Court
Patterico exposes Howard Dean for the MORON he really is with Oh, That Liberal Media (Part 83,284).
The other day, Howard Dean condemned President Bush’s “right-wing Supreme Court†for the Kelo decision:
[Dean] also said the president was partly responsible for a recent Supreme Court decision involving eminent domain.
“The president and his right-wing Supreme Court think it is ‘okay’ to have the government take your house if they feel like putting a hotel where your house is,†Dean said, not mentioning that until he nominated John Roberts to the Supreme Court this week, Bush had not appointed anyone to the high court.
The Townhall.com news item I quote here made it clear why Dean’s statement was so ridiculous:
Dean’s reference to the “right-wing†court was also erroneous. The four justices who dissented in the Kelo vs. New London case included the three most conservative members of the court – Chief Justice William Rehnquist and Associate Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. Justice Sandra Day O’Connor was the fourth dissenter.
The court’s liberal coalition of Justices John Paul Stevens, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer combined with Justice Anthony Kennedy to form the majority opinion, allowing the city of New London, Conn., to use eminent domain to seize private properties for commercial development.
“We think that eminent domain does not belong in the private sector. It is for public use only,†Dean said.
(Via John Cole.)
So, at a time when the nomination of a Supreme Court Justice is one of the hottest stories in the news, the head of the Democrat party makes an impassioned speech that (though he doesn’t realize it) is an argument for more conservative Justices in the mold of Scalia and Thomas.
Even the Lefties are going wild with this GAFF. At the Daily Kos, Dean Scream #001010110.
I took Howard Dean to task at Dean Nation for his indefensible comments about how “The president and his right-wing Supreme Court think it is “okay” to have the government take your house if they feel like putting a hotel where your house is.”
I mean, come on, Howard…
Patterico mentions that other bloggers have picked up the story:
Meanwhile, Dean’s words have reverberated throughout the Internet. Blogs like John Cole’s Balloon Juice, Protein Wisdom, Q&O, Say Anything, RightWingNews, Lifelike Pundits, Outside the Beltway, and many others
Flap is just glad that Dean reads and promotes Hugh’s book and is helping spread the word about BLOGS.
Because the MSM ( and where is the NY Times and Washington Post) simply does not cover obvious factual LEFTIE GAFFS.

Air America: Follow and Give Back the Money BACKLASH
Liberals Not Happy With Air America Scandal Reporting
Backlash Begins
A “Fake Story”, What Took Lefties So Long?
Emanating first from the Daily Kos, the nation’s largest liberal blog site, it then spreads to smaller sites. I’m accused outright of making up a story:
It’s fun to check in with Memeorandum now and then to see what the righties are linking to. Yesterday they were swarming like flies to a carcass to a story that appears to be phony.
Some conservatives are howling this weekend over Maha’s initial inability to find the Bronx News story via Google. Is that my fault?
Here’s a third link, as this article makes its way around the liberal blogosphere. In each case, the emphasis is on this as “fake news”.
Then, things get nastier. At this liberal site, featuring a dead panda, it’s name calling and what may be an anti-Irish slur.
Here, it’s “baloney and spew” and apparently, I’m supposed to be ashamed of myself for reasons that aren’t very clear. Northwest Progressive also gets in the act, but doesn’t put too much thought into the matter.
The Politburo Diktat, an exceptionally interesting site, is already all over this, especially Barbara O’Brien’s (Mahablog, Maha’s diary at Daily Kos, both linked above) Google search troubles.
Flap finds Lefties very easy to mischaracterize bad news as LIES, LIES and More LIES. There is a story here and it is being investigated by New York and probably federal agencies (bankruptcy fraud?).
The House after the indictments are finished should schedule hearings into the matter into how the diversion of money was accomplished without any oversight.
Now, with regards to the money. Since Air America cannot return money to a nonentity could they not return it to the bankruptcy court to be distributed to jilted creditors?
The RIGHT responds to the Lefts over-reaction:
The Larsonian adds a interesting point. Scott at Powerline adds muscle to the fight today. Captain Ed doesn’t mess around, either, thanks Captain’s Quarters! Viking Pundit, Wizbang (making a major point I’ll be exploring in-depth today), Eclipse Ramblings, Medary and many others are on this today.

Daily Kos Wants to Convert California High School Conservative
The Maroons over at Daily Kos have Let’s Convert The RW High Schooler.
Have you heard about the Conservative Schooler aka Andy Nevin? He is the 15 year old kid in Sacramento who has started his own blog, California High School Conservative, on blogspot. He is naive and ill informed. Let’s convert him.
Nevin has gotten a ton of attention recently for starting a petition to get CA Attorney General Bill Lockyer to remove a piece of art called “T’anks to Mr. Bush” from an exhibit of art by various lawyer/artists on display in the Department of Justice cafeteria. The piece, by Stephen Percy, depicts a red, white and blue map of the United States sinking into the toilet.
I just spent some time at the kid’s site, and it is both frightening and sad that this 15 year old is so brainwashed. He needs our help.
More across the break.
- mrboma’s diary :: ::
I suppose even Hitler had his Youth. Among the more disconcerting of his posts, Nevin has a post comparing Bush’s lies about Iraq and WMD to FDR not telling the nation we were aiding the British before the official declaration of war against Germany in WWII. In a second post, he calls the ruling to remove the redistricting ballot measure (supported by [gasp] one million Californians!) from the special election ballot “judicial tyranny,” when it was nothing of the sort. Please take a minute to go over to his site and post a well reasoned argument against one of his idiotic and naive posts. You may also want to encourage him to put up or shut up by enrolling in the military after he graduates high school.
What a bunch of Maroons…… and inaccurate ones at that since they managed to spell the kid’s name wrong.
The Conservative High Schoolers response:
And there is more over at the link, including comments.
First off, Daily Kos, you could have spelled by name right. It’s Nevis, not Nevin.
Also, the response from your readers was pretty pathetic. I thought you guys were supposed to be one of the most read blogs out there, yet I didn’t even hear about this until 4 days after it was written. I got a few more liberal comments, but I didn’t think much of it.
You guys failed miserably in converting me. It baffles me that someone thinks that you can convert someone with internet comments.
But too my fellow conservatives, don’t get too upset over this; I think it just shows how wacky some of these sites are. I actually find the above post hysterica
Now, we know why Andy is a conservative.
Welcome to the club and congrats on your Western Alliance of blogs.

Schwarzenegger: Election is Good – Cancelling it BAD
Dan Weintraub of the Sacramento Bee today has Election is best bet, win or lose.
Thanks to his recent string of unforced errors and a free-fall in the polls, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting a ton of unsolicited advice these days, and much of it is bad. The worst idea yet is one that is dangerously close to becoming conventional wisdom among the pundits and political consultants who hover around the Capitol: Cancel the Nov. 8 special election.
Glad to see that Dan agress with Flap:
California Special Election Watch: Cancel the Election?
California Special Election: Deal Unlikely?
Governor Schwarzenegger: Not the Time to Turn Squishy
and finally
But, remember Schwarzenegger has already won the 2005 election. Even if he loses every measure (very unlikely), he stays the course for California reform, maintains the status quo and depletes the resources of his opponents. Resources that cannot be used in the Democrat primary race in June and cannot be saved for television ads against him.
Actually, Flap has heard from members of the Governor’s team that he was gearing up for the campaign all along.
Flap is glad he was the Terminator and not Gulliver.

Are Bush and Schwarzenegger Twins?
Dan Walters of the Sacramento Bee has Are Bush and Schwarzenegger the political version of ‘Twins’?
Are George W. Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger twins separated at birth?
That may be preposterous (as well as the plot of a satiric Schwarzenegger movie), but in addition to their common tendency to mangle syntax, the president of the United States and the governor of California find themselves in similar political circumstances, facing many similar political issues and similar enemies.
An interesting thesis.
But, Schwarzenegger doesn’t need Karl Rove. He needs to take his reform measures to the people and ballot.
And he is.

John Bolton Watch: A LIAR Democrats Charge
Thirty-five Democrat Senators and Turn-Coat Republican, now Independent Jeffords, have charged that John Bolton, United Nations Ambassador nominee was “not truthful” in answering questions about his record. And they have urged President Bush on Friday not to make a recess appointment of Mr. Bolton as United Nations ambassador after the Senate’s failure (due to Democrat filibuster) to confirm him for that job.
A copy of the letter is here.
But one Republican official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the president has not announced his decision, said Mr. Bush would probably appoint Mr. Bolton next week.
The Democrats do not want to let this go. John Bolton is the President’s pick for the United Nation’s ambasssadorship. But, they will not move-on…….
In a final gesture of opposition, Democratic senators indicated that they would use a parliamentary maneuver to formally send Mr. Bolton’s name back to the White House once the Senate adjourns, rather than have it remain pending at the Senate.
That move was seen as symbolic, but one reflecting the growing bitterness of Democrats and their hopes that by standing firm they would make it more politically awkward for Mr. Bush to give Mr. Bolton the interim appointment.
Republicans, on the other hand, said Mr. Bush would likely go ahead and make the appointment as early as next week.
And who is the leader in this charge against Bolton?
Why it is plagiarising Senator and Presidential candidate Joe Biden, D- Delaware, RANKING (and Flap does mean rank – very rank) member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Joe, haven’t you heard about folks who live in glass houses?
The President should have appointed Bolton over the July 4th recess.
Appoint Bolton and shake-up the United Nations.
