    Christopher Walken for President 2008

Christopher Walken, actor extraordinary, has delared his candidacy for the Presidency of the United States.

“Our great country is in a terrible downward spiral. We’re outsourcing jobs, bankrupting social security, and losing lives at war. We need to focus on what’s important– paying attention to our children, our citizens, our future. We need to think about improving our failing educational system, making better use of our resources, and helping to promote a stable, safe, and tolerant global society. It’s time to be smart about our politics. It’s time to get America back on track.”

An academy award winning actor, Mr. Walken has little experience in either government or politics.

Flap has always enjoyed his films.

After reading his website it appears to be the same liberal Hollywood tripe.

Chris, we have enough of those politicans, including Senators Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.

Make Flap happy and forget the politics and make a few more films.

Iraq War Watch: Clandestine Chemical Production and Storage Facilities Discovered

The ASSociated Press has U.S. Raids Suspected Chem Facility in Iraq.

U.S. troops raided a suspected insurgent chemical weapons factory in northern Iraq, finding about 1,500 gallons of dangerous substances, the U.S. military said Saturday.

Lt. Col. Steve Boylan, a military spokesman, said 11 chemicals were found in the hideout in Mosul, 225 miles northwest of Baghdad, “which are dangerous by themselves, and mixed together they would become even more dangerous.”

“Our feeling at this point is that had this stuff been mixed and used, it could have been very easily used against Iraqi and coalition forces,” Boylan said.

The United States Department of Defense has Iraq Raid Yields Possible Chemical Production Facility.

Acting on detainee-provided tips, coalition forces found what’s believed to be an insurgent chemical production facility and chemical storage locations during Aug. 9 raids in northern Iraq, officials in Iraq reported today.

The early morning raids, conducted by Task Force Freedom, uncovered what technical experts believe to be a “clandestine chemical production facility” and possibly related storage sites.

Military officials are careful to state that ongoing analysis of the chemical evidence collected from the sites is currently insufficient to determine what the insurgents had been producing.

“We are continuing to investigate the production and storage facilities to determine what type and quantities of chemicals were produced at the facility and the specific threat posed to our forces,” said Col. Henry Franke, Multinational Corps’ nuclear, biological and chemical defense officer.

“We don’t want to speculate on any possibilities until our analysis is complete,” he added.

Well, no speculation yet…. but where did these chemicals come from? Were they left over stores of WMD chemicals from Saddam’s regieme or freshly imported and when?

And were the insurgents actively manufacturing chemicals weapons of mass destruction and did they have the help of the Syrians or Iranians? or was it just Al Qaeda?

    Stay tuned.

Cindy Sheehan Watch: MoveOn.org Schedules Vigils

Cindy Sheehan with her Anti-War handler, at the January 2005, “Words and Music in Honor of Fahrenheit 9/11” gathering, held at Los Angeles’ House Of Blues.

When Cindy Sheehan is not busy pestering President Bush in Crawford obviously she plans political activism.

The Washington Post has (on a front page story) Cindy Sheehan’s Pitched Battle, In a Tent Near Bush’s Ranch, Antiwar Mother of Dead Soldier Gains Visibility.

Cindy Sheehan vaulted into national consciousness this month on the power of her story as the grieving mother of a fallen soldier.

But what began as a solitary campaign to force a meeting with President Bush by setting up camp along the road to his ranch has quickly taken on the full trappings of a political campaign. Sheehan is working with a political consultant and a team of public relations professionals, and now she is featured in a television ad.

So, is it surprising that an organized media campaign is being waged by the Left anti-war crowd?

Moveon.org has scheduled Vigils for Cindy Sheehan.

    Wednesday, August 17, 2005 7:30PM

Cindy Sheehan, mother of Army Specialist Casey Sheehan who was killed in Iraq, continues her vigil outside President Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas. She was recently joined by more moms who lost a child in Iraq and other military families. Meanwhile President Bush continues his five-week vacation and pledged Thursday to keep U.S. troops in Iraq—meaning more moms will lose a child.

Cindy has asked supporters to start candlelight vigils in their communities to support her and call for an end to the war. So, MoveOn and True Majority are teaming up to host Vigils for Cindy Sheehan on Wednesday, August 17th, to show our solidarity with Cindy.

Our vigils will be simple and dignified. Together, we’ll acknowledge the sacrifices made by Cindy Sheehan, her son, Casey and the more than 1,800 brave American men and women who have given their lives in Iraq—and their moms and families.

Hosts are urgently needed to help organize the Vigils for Cindy Sheehan. If you can host a vigil on your own, you will be making an enormous contribution to this nationwide event. Thank you. Host your own Vigils for Cindy Sheehan or sign up for an event near you.

Members of CodePink, a women’s antiwar organization, have pitched their tent near Sheehan’s.

Join Cindy Sheehan’s Protest in Crawford
Cindy Sheehan went to Crawford to ask President Bush, “Why did you kill my son? What did my son die for?” Her son, Casey, 24, was killed in Iraq, on April 4, 2004. President Bush continues to refuse Cindy’s requests for a meeting, so she has made a stand outside his Crawford Ranch. At her side is CODEPINK”s Diane Wilson who began a hunger strike at their roadside vigil until Bush talks to Cindy. Show your solidarity with Cindy by joining us in Crawford, fasting with Diane, or BIRDDOG BUSH at his events throughout the country. Click here to check out daily blogs from Crawford and see who is fasting with Diane today.

TrueMajority — an antiwar group founded by Ben Cohen, one of the creators of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream — hired Fenton Communications, a Washington public relations firm that has worked intermittently with Sheehan over the past year to coordinate media coverage.

Support the Mothers of Fallen Soldiers, Calling for Peace

Cindy Sheehan is bravely demanding Bush explain why her son died fighting in Iraq. She shared her story at a TrueMajority-sponsored event in April:
“Mr. President…don’t spill our country’s precious lifeblood.”

Her voice is powerful. Please contribute so more can hear it.

The most effective spokespeople for bringing the troops home are the mothers, fathers, and family members of soldiers killed in Iraq, who are demanding to know why President Bush sent their sons, daughters, husbands and wives off to die.

TrueMajority members have already donated more than $30,000 to help keep members of military families on the President’s trail throughout the summer. If we can reach $100,000 we can push our campaign against the Iraq occupation to the next level, and really keep momentum in this country turning against this war.

Please donate to get this rolling.

    Blogosphere:

Joe Trippi, the political consultant behind former Vermont governor Howard Dean’s early success in the 2004 Democratic presidential primary race, hosted a conference with Sheehan for liberal Internet bloggers, hoping their online dispatches will draw even wider attention.

Looks like the Left is trying to replay the campaign of 2004.

Cindy Sheehan is not simply a grieving crackpot mother who wants redress for the loss of her son.

She is a political activist attempting to change American public opinion.

It was a nice, yet, disingenuous try by the LEFT to use a pathetic, grieving mother to humiliate the President and by stealth pursuade folks to her point of view.

Cindy Sheehan has been exposed and should be treated like any other left-wing moonbat opposed to the President’s policies on the Iraq War.

Michelle Malkin has more, YES, CINDY SHEEHAN CHANGED HER STORY

    Update #1

The Associated Press has Normal Life Over for Protesting Mother.

Sheehan co-founded an anti-war organization and began talking, demonstrating, speaking at a congressional hearing. She got a Web site, a public relations assistant (financed by an anti-war group), an entourage of peace activists and a speaking tour.

But while her message was strong and widely disseminated, she didn’t become world famous until about a week ago when, after speaking at the annual Veterans For Peace national conference in Dallas, she took a bus to Crawford, Texas, site of Bush’s ranch, to have a word with her president.

Ok, Cindy has been OUTED as an activist. And she should be treated in the press like one – a protester with a political agenda.

No special treatment or celebrity status, right?

From the Leftie MSM….. well everyone knows the story.

Air America Radio Scandel: MSM Makes an Appearance

The Mainstream Media has finally picked up the Air America Radio Scandel. The ASSociated Press has N.Y. Community Center Loan Investigated.

Note the header on the piece.

    By DAVID B. CARUSO
    Associated Press Writer

    August 13, 2005, 9:39 AM EDT

NEW YORK — State and city officials are investigating how $875,000 from a community center funded largely by government grants and contracts wound up in the coffers of Air America, the liberal radio network.

A spokesman for Attorney General Eliot Spitzer said his office has opened a probe into the financial dealings of the Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club, which runs programs for poor children and senior citizens.

Ok, look at Flap’s first piece, Air America FLAP: Follow the Money – JULY 29.

This has been discussed throughout the blogosphere for weeks and no coverage from the MSM. But, finally!

And this story despite the Lefts attempt to derail the story with these pieces:

THE SOURCE for the “Air America stole from poor children” claim.

It’s fun to check in with Memeorandum now and then to see what the righties are linking to. Yesterday they were swarming like flies to a carcass to a story that appears to be phony.

I say “appears”; maybe it isn’t. It’s hard to tell, for reasons that I hope become apparent as you read this post. The point of this post is not to prove or disprove certain allegations, but to illustrate how, shall we say, uncritical reading and writing can create a lot of smoke without there necessarily being a fire.

The MSM in these cities have finally picked up the story:

The AP article by David Caruso is being carried by dozens of MSM papers, including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Fort Worth Star Telegram, Myrtle Beach Sun News, Kansas City Star, Tallahassee Democrat, Grand Forks Herald, Bradenton Herald, Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, Duluth News Tribune, Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, philly.com, Biloxi Sun Herald, Monterey County Herald, Fort Wayne News, San Luis Obispo Tribune, Kansas.com, Centre Daily Times, Pioneer Press, Macon Telegraph, Charlotte Observer, Seattle Post Intelligencer, MLive.com, The UK Guardian, Worcester Telegram, Wilmington Morning Star, Times Daily, Tuscaloosa News, The Ledger, and Charleston Sunday Gazette Mail

Why has it taken so long?

Michelle Malkin has a funny update to this story referencing a root canal.

Brainster’s Blog listens to an entire episode of Al Franken’s show–an experience that’s “worse than root canal.”

Indeed, root canal treatment is generally faster than the MSM getting around to covering this story about Air America’s theft of moeny from poor kids in New York.

Air America Radio Scandel: New York Times Corrects Al Franken Quote

Flap previously reported that the New York Times got their quotes of Air America Radio host Al Franken wrong.

Now, the New York Times has issued a correction.

An article yesterday about state and city investigations of a loan made by a Bronx social service agency to the liberal radio network Air America quoted incorrectly from comments made on the air by Al Franken, the host of an Air America program. Referring to Evan M. Cohen, a former official of the network whom Mr. Franken accused of having engineered the loan, from the Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club, Mr. Franken said: “I don’t know why they did it, and I don’t know where the money went. I don’t know if it was used for operations, which I imagine it was. I think he was robbing Peter to pay Paul.” (He did not say: “I don’t know why he did it. I don’t know where the money went. I don’t know if it was used for operations. I think he was borrowing from Peter to pay Paul.”) (Go to Article)

But, Michelle Malkin is correct that the Times has not corrected its false assertion that the Franken quote came from a transcript of the broadcast provided by the NYC Department of Investigation.

Patterico has New York Times Corrects Doctored Quote — But Where Did It Come From??

Well, Flap was wrong about the New York Times correcting an obvious error. However, they have not gone far enough and Flap recommends readers write the Times and ask why.

Anyone who still cares can write a letter of complaint to reporter Alan Feuer (feuer@nytimes.com), spokeswoman Catherine Mathis (mathis@nytimes.com), spokesman Toby Usnik (usnik@nytimes.com), and ombudsman Byron Calame (public@nytimes.com)
