Cindy Sheehan Watch: A Meeting with Senator McCain

Anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan speaks with reporters after a private meeting with Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in his office on Capitol Hill Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, in Washington.

The ASSociated Press has ‘Peace Mom’ Cindy Sheehan Meets McCain.

Peace mom Cindy Sheehan didn’t change her opposition to the war inIraq after meeting Tuesday with one of its supporters, Sen. John McCain, a Vietnam veteran whom she called “a warmonger.”

Sheehan thanked McCain for meeting with her, but she came away disappointed.

“He tried to tell us what George Bush would have said,” Sheehan, who protested at the president’s Texas home over the summer, told reporters. “I don’t believe he believes what he was telling me.”

McCain, R-Ariz., also seemed disappointed in the meeting, which he said had been misrepresented as including some of his constituents. Only one person in her small delegation has ties to the state, and that person no longer lives there.

Flap has more difficulty with a grandstanding moronic McCain but listen to what Sheehan said about the meeting…..

“He is a warmonger, and I’m not,” Sheehan said after meeting with McCain. “I believe this war is not keeping America safer.”

So, who is the BIGGEST LOSER in this exchange?

NB: Tomorrow One Fine Jay, web designer extraordinaire, will be covering Cindy Sheehan when she speaks at the University of Maryland.

Get over there for some fine photos and reporting.

Patrick Ruffini’s 2008 Presidential Poll for September

Patrick Ruffini has his 2008 Presidential Straw Poll up here.

Last month’s GOP primary straw poll got over 17,000 votes (!) and provided reams of state-by-state and blog-by-blog data to chew over. This month’s poll has all the features you know and love — the results by blog referrer, the state data — plus this twist: you can now “tag” your vote, like you’d tag a blog entry in Technorati or a photo in Flickr.

I’ve modified the candidate list slightly to get a sense of what impact these changes might have on a real primary. Newt Gingrich is given a bye in this poll, with two notable additions to the big ballot: Tim Pawlenty and Haley Barbour. (I’ll be monitoring what a sample of Newt supporters do this time.) Mark Sanford is added as a fantasy candidate, as he has said he won’t run.

Here are last month’s results. Let’s see if we can beat the overall total. This poll is completely unscientific. Use of these results for anything other than their entertainment value or while operating heavy machinery may result in severe bodily harm.

    Main Ballot:
    George Allen
    Haley Barbour
    Sam Brownback
    Bill Frist
    Rudy Giuliani
    Chuck Hagel
    Mike Huckabee
    John McCain
    Tim Pawlenty
    George Pataki
    Mitt Romney
    Tom Tancredo

So, what are you waiting for…….get over there and vote.

Flap knows you will be glad you did.

BTW, Flap voted for Rudy Giuliani again
