Mexican President Vicente Fox denounced as “disgraceful and shameful” on Wednesday a proposal to build a high-tech wall on the U.S.-Mexico border to stop illegal immigrants.

Concerned about the huge numbers of illegal immigrants streaming across the border and worried it could be an entry point for terrorists, a U.S. lawmaker has proposed building two parallel steel and wire fences running from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Coast. But Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has said a wall running the length of a border would cost too much.

Mexico has expressed indignation at the idea.

Fox, speaking in Tamaulipas state across the border from Texas, said such extreme security measures would violate immigrants’ rights.

“The disgraceful and shameful construction of walls, the increasing enforcement of security systems and increasing violation of human rights and labor rights will not protect the economy of the United States,” he said.

What is disgraceful are the millions of illegal Mexican nationals who have been allowed to sneak across the border for decades.

    It is a disgrace!!

I wonder how the United States would be without us Mexican workers. I do not know one american that is willing to pic tomatoes or oranges, or any field work.

Mexico should look at this as an possitive way. If they just want to make an honest living, start farming your own land. Let the market place decide.

The biggest disgrace in this whole matter is George Bush, who listens to Vincente Fox and his people instead of the people of this country.I personally know many people who have been kept out of jobs that Americans want and illegals are doing. The crime in my neck of the woods,(Including gangs, murders, drugs, drive bys, executions, forgery, etc.)has steadily gone up with the influx of illegals. Not to mention driving with no license(oops maybe they had one their cousin made for them at the motor vehicle dept.-Washington & Connecticut) or insurance.Last but not least,I’ve had to prove my citizenship on every job I’ve had for the last 20 years.I work all over this country and worked over 100 jobs in construction to raise 4 kids on my own.Coming back from Alaska this Oct.,passport in hand,I had the border patrol search my vehicle.I’m a 4th generation white American veteran.Case closed, send them home, and keep them there.
