California Election 2006: Eve of Election Fundraising Numbers
Los Angeles Times: Gov.’s Campaign Is in Debt
The Numbers:
Governor:
Arnold Schwarzenegger: $410,00 in debt
Steve Westly: $24 million
Phil Angelides: $17.1 million
Attorney General:
Jerry Brown: $3.6 million
Rocky Delgadillo: $2.3 million
Chuck Poochigian: $3.6 million
The UNIONS:
California Teachers Association: $11.6 million
The California Correctional Peace Officers’ Assn: $675,000
Marty Wilson, who oversees fund-raising for the governor, said Schwarzenegger had begun raising money for his campaign. “I’m confident we’ll have the funds necessary,” Wilson said.
Angelides and Westly need war chests for the primary fight, while Schwarzenegger probably won’t have a June challenger.
Marty Wilson is correct.
The Governor will be able to raise the funds necessary for a credible campaign.
With Steve Westly able to self-fund and funnel millions into his campaign watch for early attack ads against Phil Angelides. Will this provide campaign fodder for Schwarzenegger?
You betcha……..
