Muhammad Caricature Watch: Tens of Thousands Protest Muhammad Caricatures in Pakistan and Turkey
Supporters of Islamic coalition Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal, or United Action Forum hold an effigy of the Danish Prime Minister during a rally to condemn the publication of cartoons depicting Islamic Prophet Muhammad printed by some Western newspapers, Sunday, March 5, 2006 in Karachi, Pakistan. About 50,000 people, many chanting ‘Hang those who insulted the prophet,’ rallied in a southern Pakistani city to protest Prophet Muhammad cartoons.
ASSociated Press: Denmark Reopens Embassy in Indonesia
Tens of thousands of people massed in Pakistan and Turkey on Sunday to protest cartoons of Islam’s Prophet, Muhammad, that have fired anger throughout the Muslim world. Denmark reopened its embassy in Indonesia on Monday, more than three weeks after hard-line Muslims stormed the building and it closed amid widespread protests over the caricatures, which were first published in a Danish newspaper.
About 50,000 people, many chanting “Hang those who insulted the prophet,” rallied Sunday in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi. The protesters burned the Danish flag, hit an effigy of President Bush with a stick and chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Musharraf.” Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf welcomed Bush to Pakistan on Saturday.
Hundreds of policemen in riot gear lined the central Karachi road where the rally was held. There was no violence.
Women supporters of Islamic coalition Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal, or United Action Forum take part in a rally to condemn the publication of cartoons depicting Islamic Prophet Muhammad printed by some Western newspapers, Sunday, March 5, 2006 in Karachi, Pakistan. About 50,000 people, many chanting ‘Hang those who insulted the prophet,’ rallied in a southern Pakistani city to protest Prophet Muhammad cartoons. The headbands read: ‘God is great.’
Ahhhhh the Taliban and Al Qaeda apologists/supporters are up to turning out the crowds again. But, the Pakistani government has threatened a crack down so there is NO violence.
The Mullahs must stir up the masses to keep them in line. Can the Pakistanis and Turks not see that the Islamic Clerics are trying to “CONTROL” them?
Pakistan’s opposition leader and anti-U.S. cleric Maulana Fazlur Rahman addresses his supporters at a rally to condemn the publication of cartoons depicting Islamic Prophet Muhammad printed by some Western newspapers, Sunday, March 5, 2006 in Karachi, Pakistan.
In Pakistan, the protest was organized by a coalition of radical Islamic groups opposed to Musharraf and the United States. The alliance, Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal, or United Action Forum, has organized a series of demonstrations against the cartoons, which were reprinted in several other European countries.
Some cartoon protests in Pakistan have turned deadly and at least five people died in two Pakistani cities in rioting last month.
Radical Islamists in Pakistan oppose Musharraf for his cooperation with the United States in the war on terrorism.
“Both Musharraf and his master Bush are killers of Muslims,” said Maulana Fazlur Rahman, parliamentary opposition leader and a senior figure in the religious alliance.
So, the protests ARE political not religious. The protests over the Muhammad Caricatures are a SHAM.
DUH…….
Stay tuned…….

Hillary Clinton Watch: Unaware of Husband Bill’s Dubai Ties
US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) at a press conference on US Port Security, 01 March 2006. Former president Bill Clinton has privately advised Dubai officials how to address US political concerns over a controversial ports deal, as his wife, Senator Clinton, publicly attacks the deal.
MSNBC/FT: Hillary Clinton ‘unaware’ of Bill’s Dubai ties
Hillary Clinton, a leading opponent of DP World’s takeover of some US port operations, was this week forced to admit that she did not know her husband had advised Dubai leaders on how to handle the growing dispute.
But former President Bill Clinton’s ties to Dubai and the United Arab Emirates should not have come as a surprise to his New York senator wife.
So, Bill takes the Arab’s money and Hillary appeases her Jewish constituency in New York.
Don’t you love it!
Mrs Clinton’s own senatorial financial disclosure forms reveal that her husband earned $450,000 giving speeches in Dubai in 2002.
Officials from the UAE also donated between $500,000 and $1m to fund Mr Clinton’s presidential library in Arkansas.
It was part of an effort by the emirates, said a person close to UAE officials, to forge a close relationship with a former US president who is influential and highly regarded in the region.
Mr Clinton’s admiration for the UAE was last on display in November, when he made his fourth visit to the American University in Dubai and met students participating in the Clinton scholarship programme.
The UAE has also contributed $100m to Hurricane Katrina relief funds – which Mr Clinton had a leading role in raising.
So, Hillary tell us how you really feel about the UAE.
Mrs Clinton told the New York Post on Thursday that she did not know her husband had been contacted by Dubai officials two weeks ago and offered them advice on the deal. Although both Hillary and Bill Clinton say he stands behind her on the issue and there is no direct conflict, his relationship to the UAE has complicated her political stance on the transaction.
And voters are going to TRUST the Clinton’s again?
No way……….

Iran Nuclear Watch: United States WARNS Iran of “Painful Consequences”
The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, speaks during the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s (AIPAC) annual Policy Conference in Washington, Sunday, March 5, 2006. Bolton told the AIPAC conference that a failure by the U.N. Security Council to deal with Iran’s drive for nuclear weapons would ‘do lasting damage to the credibility of the council.’ ‘The longer we wait to confront the threat Iran poses,’ Bolton said, ‘the harder and more intractable it will become to solve.’
Reuters: Iran warned of consequences of nuclear ambitions
The United States on Sunday warned that Iran faced “painful consequences” if it continued sensitive nuclear activities and said the problem would become increasingly difficult to resolve if the international community did not confront it.
Ahead of what could be a crucial international meeting on Iran on Monday, U.S. Ambassador to the
United Nations John Bolton reaffirmed that the United States will use “all tools at our disposal” to thwart Iran’s nuclear program and is already “beefing up defensive measures” to do so.Has the United States and Israel had ENOUGH? Is the POINT OF NO RETURN at hand with tomorrow’s IAEA meeting and possible Iran referral to the United Nations Security Council?
In the meantime in Iran:
Iranian women shout slogans at the tomb of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, late founder of the Islamic Republic, during a gathering in support of Iran’s nuclear programme in Tehran March 5, 2006.
Iranian children attend a gathering in support of Iran’s nuclear programme at the tomb of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, late founder of the Islamic Republic, in Tehran March 5, 2006.
An Iranian woman holds up a picture of Iran’s late founder of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini at his tomb during a gathering in support of Iran’s nuclear programme in Tehran March 5, 2006.
The QUOTES:
“The Iran regime must be made aware that if it continues down the path of international isolation, there will be tangible and painful consequences,” he told 4,500 delegates to the annual convention of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the leading pro-Israel U.S. lobbying group.
Bolton said Iran poses a “comprehensive threat” as a state-sponsor of terrorism and a nuclear aspirant, and so “we must be prepared to … use all the tools at our disposal to stop the threat.”
“The longer we wait to confront the threat Iran poses, the harder and more intractable it will become to solve,” he warned.
Like Flap said the first time……..
Bolton reaffirmed that Washington does not see the security council moving quickly to impose sanctions on Iran. Veto-wielding members Russia and China have made clear their reluctance.
But he said many other governments have begun to speak publicly of sanctions, implying they may take action outside the security council.
The United States has had sweeping sanctions on Iran since after the 1979 Iranian revolution, but it is looking at ways to further use its Proliferation Security Initiative to deny Iran materials it needs for its nuclear program, Bolton said.
John Bolton’s missive is a mini-shot across Iran’s bow.
How will Iran respond?
The stage has been set for tomorrow’s IAEA meeting.
Stay tuned…….

California Three Strikes Law Watch: William Bratton and Lee Baca Support Reform of Three Strikes Law
Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley
Los Angeles Times: Bratton, Baca Support Attempts to Reform Three Strikes Law
The law enforcement officials back efforts to restrict harsh sentences to those whose third offense is a serious or violent crime.Los Angeles Police Department Chief William J. Bratton and Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca have joined an effort to rein in California’s three strikes sentencing law.
Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley, who is pushing a ballot initiative to soften the tough law, said at a news conference Thursday that he had won the chiefs’ backing.
Well, Steve Cooley has the Chief’s backing before this attempt to change the Three Strikes Law becomes eligible for the California ballot.
Why is there a need for the change?
BECAUSE……..
Cooley and the San Francisco County District Attorney are NOT enforcing the current Three Strikes law……
Cooley said while Los Angeles and San Francisco counties only use three strikes against violent offenders, the policy should be uniform.
“It’s great if it happens most of the time,” Cooley said. “But when you write something down and make it a law, you make sure it happens all the time.”Flap thinks D.A. Steve Cooley BETTER enforce the CURRENT law before seeking endorsements to CHANGE it!
Cooley has long criticized the breadth of the state’s law, which sometimes results in sentences of 25 years to life for those whose third strikes were nonviolent or minor crimes. His ballot initiative, coauthored with defense lawyer Brian Dunn, would limit third strikes in most cases to violent or serious offenses.
Cooley’s proposed initiative does not attempt to redefine first and second strikes and will likely make fewer inmates subject to re-sentencing. “This is a much narrower, focused effort,” Cooley said.
Cooley, there needs to be NO effort.
Either ENFORCE the law or RESIGN.
Steve Cooley’s initiative in circulation is: “The Repeat Criminal Offender/Three Strikes Fair Sentencing Act of 2006 (Version 2)”

NHS Dentistry Watch: Another Desperate Dentistry Story
The Daily Mail: Desperate dentistry: Woman pulls tooth with pliers
A woman told today how she got a friend to pull out one of her teeth with a pair of pliers and filmed the gruesome process on a mobile phone after failing to find an NHS dentist.
Diane Hunter, 45, described how she became so exasperated after two years of toothache she opted for a DIY option.
“In the end I just got really drunk and got a friend to pull it out with a pair of big pliers,” she told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus.
“There was a lots of blood but I just needed the tooth out – it was causing me great pain and it still is.”
Failed search for NHS careMiss Hunter, who lives in the Listerhills area of Bradford, said she has not seen a dentist for more than 20 years and failed in her search for any offering NHS care.
She said she first tried the old schoolboy trick of tying one end of a piece of string around her tooth and the other around a door handle before slamming the door but it did not work.
Miss Hunter told the paper she would never pull her own teeth out again.
“I was going to do it again but I showed a nurse at the doctor’s surgery what I had done and she said it could cause a heart attack,” she said.
She even went to hospital for help at one point but was never given anything more than paracetamol.
Her friend performed the DIY dentistry about six months ago.
Another desperate dentistry story from the FAILED SOCIALIZED NHS DENTISTRY in the United Kingdom.
Private dentistry is best with government accomodations/subsidies/vouchers for the truely poor, infirm, old, or disabled.
Look at the comments section of this piece and the varying opinions:
What a silly woman, or is she just an exhibitionist? After experiencing the agony, literally, of a series of poor NHS dentists my wife and I ‘went private’. To our surprise it isn’t much more expensive but the treatment is far superior. Recently I required a prescription for antibiotics and that was actually cheaper than the NHS.
– Chris Downing, Rothwell, England
It’s funny that she could afford to get “really drunk” but wouldn’t consider putting her hand in her own pocket to go to a private dentist. Obviously she was looking for a free service and I guess in the end, that’s what she got.
– Linda B, Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Stupid woman. The money she spent getting drunk would have paid a significant amount towards the cost of a private dentist.
If she can’t be bothered to go to a dentist for regular check-ups why should she assume the NHS will sort out the mess.
– Anon, Reading
I don’t think we should have to go private. Haven’t we paid enough into the system all these years – where has all this money gone? (Or is that a silly question.)
– Diane, N Ireland
I dont blame her. I find myself and family in a similar situation. No NHS dentist available and unable to afford private care. What are we supposed to do?I wish I could get dental care for my childern even if not myself but none is forthcoming in the forseeable future.
– Kaz, cheshire
Stay tuned as more U.K. dentists go “PRIVATE.”

Iran Nuclear Watch: The Final Proposal from Iran
*****Scroll Down for Updates*****
Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani answers a question from the media during a news conference in Tehran, on Sunday March 5, 2006. Iran warned Sunday that it will start large-scale uranium enrichment if it is referred to the U.N. Security Council.
ASSociated Press: Iran Threatens to Start Uranium Enrichment
Iran warned Sunday it will start large-scale uranium enrichment if it is referred to the U.N. Security Council because of international concerns over its nuclear program.
International Atomic Energy Agency will meet in Vienna, Austria, on Monday to discuss Iran’s nuclear program and decide whether to refer the issue to the Security Council, which has the power to impose economic and political sanctions on the Islamic republic.
As Flap has said over and over, Iran will NOT peacefully stand down their nuclear program. The ball has shifted from the Mullahs and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the European Union, Israel and the United States.
Tomorrow the IAEA MAY refer Iran to the United Nations Security Council. But, the referral will be meaningless (due to the likelyhood of a China VETO) and the inevitable (a military operation to destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities) will either slowly evolve or start to spin out of control, depnding upon Iran’s reaction.
THE QUOTES:
“If Iran’s nuclear dossier is referred to the U.N. Security Council, (large-scale) uranium enrichment will be resumed,” Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, told a news conference.
“If they (the U.S. and its allies) want to use force, we will pursue our own path.”
“Research and development won’t stop, but we are ready to agree to a timetable on (large-scale uranium) enrichment,” Larijani said. “This is the final proposal from Iran to find a solution.”
“Nuclear research and development is part of Iran’s national interests and sovereignty and won’t give it up,” he said.
“(Nuclear) research and development will continue. We don’t see any reason to suspend it … We are seeking to establish this technology at home,” he said. “We have made good progress in nuclear research.”
The United States and its allies should show “their good will,” and “accept industrial scale (uranium enrichment) by Iran, accept nuclear research and development. Then, if they have any concerns, we will be ready to show flexibility in short term.”
Iran, Larijani said, had exhausted “all peaceful ways” and said that if there were demands made contrary to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, Iran “will resist.”
Two Iranians work at the zirconium production plant, part of the nuclear facilities in Isfahan, 295 km from Tehran, March 2005. Iran will not freeze sensitive nuclear “research” work even if it is hauled before the UN Security Council, the Islamic republic’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani said.
The questions are:
What is the POINT OF NO RETURN for the United States and Israel?
How close is Iran to developing a nuclear weapon or do they already possess them (perhaps by purchase on the black market)?
Who will fire the first shot across the bow? And what will be the Iranian response?
Stay tuned…….
Update #1And now the United States is discussing a 30 to 60-day deadline for Tehran to halt its nuclear program and cooperate with international inspectors or face intensified pressure in the UN Security Council.
The United States wants the council — which has enforcement powers — to issue a statement insisting Iran cease its nuclear activities and then giving Tehran “a time period to respond — say 30 to 60 days — after which the council would consider what to do” about applying further pressure, said the U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Is this the same deadline President Bush gave Saddam Hussein? A measured timetable?
And what will be Iran’s response?
Stay tuned……
