Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Could Produce a Nuclear Bomb in 16 Days
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad raises his fists after deliving a speech. The US government urged the UN Security Council to take action following Iran ‘s announced breakthrough in its nuclear program, raising the threat of possible sanctions despite Chinese and Russian reluctance.
Bloomberg.com: Iran Could Produce Nuclear Bomb in 16 Days, U.S. Says (Update2)
Iran, defying United Nations Security Council demands to halt its nuclear program, may be capable of making a nuclear bomb within 16 days, a U.S. State Department official said.
Iran will move to “industrial scale” uranium enrichment involving 54,000 centrifuges at its Natanz plant, the Associated Press quoted deputy nuclear chief Mohammad Saeedi as telling state-run television today.
“Using those 50,000 centrifuges they could produce enough highly enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon in 16 days,” Stephen Rademaker, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation, told reporters today in Moscow.
Now, Iran reportedly has only 164 centrifuges. But, what if they have more underground and clandestine enrichment has been occuring while Iran has been stalling the IAEA and the United Nations Security Council?
Is the POINT OF NO RETURN imminent for the United States and Israel?
Iran has informed the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency that it plans to construct 3,000 centrifuges at Natanz next year, Rademaker said.
“We calculate that a 3,000-machine cascade could produce enough uranium to build a nuclear weapon within 271 days,” he said.
Flap handicaps a military operation is within weeks unless Iran immediately STANDS DOWN their uranium enrichment program.

Cindy Sheehan Watch: Return to Crawford for Easter
Peace activist Cindy Sheehan tries to get Luna the peace dog to look up for a photo at the airport terminal in Waco, Texas, Wednesday, April 12, 2006. Sheehan and other peace activists are planning Easter week events in Crawford, Texas, protesting the war in Iraq.
ASSociated Press: Sheehan Returns to Protest Near Bush Ranch
Peace activist Cindy Sheehan returned to Texas on Wednesday for another war protest near President Bush’s ranch, although he was to spend the weekend at Camp David.
The anti-war demonstrators accused Bush, who has spent every Easter at his Crawford ranch since he was elected, of running from them and their message to bring the U.S. troops home from Iraq immediately.
“We chased him away from his ranch,” said Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq in 2004. “We protest all over the country without him being in attendance, so I don’t think it takes away (from this vigil) a bit because he never met with us anyway. It wasn’t even like we ever sat down and had sweet tea together.”
And the President won’t even be in Texas.

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Giuliani Time Depicts an Iron Fisted Mayor
New York Daily News: Giving Rudy a hard ‘Time’
Film depicts an iron-fisted mayor
Rudy Giuliani better hope that a new documentary on his mayoralty, “Giuliani Time,” never makes it to cineplexes in Iowa, New Hampshire and other presidential battlegrounds. The two-hour film, which debuts May 12, casts Giuliani not as the hero of 9/11 – the role that won him acclaim as America’s Mayor – but rather as the iron-fisted ruler of a city where children went hungry, the poor were forgotten and many city cops were racists.
In short, “Giuliani Time” seeks to do for Giuliani what Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11” did for President Bush – namely, shine an unsparing light on the darker corners of his life and career, just as he starts to run for President.
So, what else is NEW from the LEFT.
The Lefties in Hollywood will demonize Giuliani before the 2008 Presidential elections begin in earnest.
Can anyone SMELL the Clinton’s here?
But, this FILM (?) or documentary ala Michael Moore may backfire and endear Rudy to southern state conservatives where he may run stronger than Bill Frist or George Allen.
Stay tuned……

Iran Nuclear Watch: Condoleezza Rice – Iran Uranium Enrichment Will Require “Strong Steps” from the United Nations Security Council
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice shakes hands with Ambassador-Designate of Iraq, Samir Shakir Mahumb Al-Sumaidae at the State Department in Washington, Tuesday, April 11, 2006. Al-Sumaidae presented his credentials to Rice.
Reuters: Rice: Iran moves will require UN action
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Wednesday Iran’s assertion it has enriched uranium will require “strong steps” from the United Nations Security Council.
Rice said the announcement from Tehran was further proof it was not adhering to requirements already set out by the international community. “I do think the Security Council will need to take into consideration this move by Iran,” Rice said at the State Department. She urged that when the council reconvenes it take “strong steps to make certain (to) maintain the credibility of the international community.”
Did Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Mullahs miscalculate with their boastful uranium enrichment announcement yesterday? Will this unite the international community sufficiently to stop their nuclear weapon procurement and manufacturing capability.
Doubtful.
Stay tuned……

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran to Move to Large-Scale Uranium Enrichment
An inside view of a Uranium Conversion Facility producing unit in Isfahan, 340 km (211 miles) south of Tehran, March 30, 2005. Russia joined the United States on Wednesday in condemning Iran’s announcement it had enriched uranium in defiance of a U.N. call to halt nuclear work that the West believes is part of a drive to build atomic bombs.
ASSociated Press: Iran to Move Toward Large-Scale Enrichment
Iran intends to move toward large-scale uranium enrichment involving 54,000 centrifuges, the country’s deputy nuclear chief said Wednesday, signaling its resolve to expand a program the international community has insisted it halt.
Iran’s president announced Tuesday the country had succeeded in enriching uranium on a small scale for the first time, using 164 centrifuges. The U.N. Security Council has demanded that Iran stop all enrichment activity because of suspicions the program’s aim is to make nuclear weapons.
Head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organisation (IAEA) Gholamreza Aghazadeh (L) and Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad (C) are seen at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, Iran February 15, 2006. Aghazadeh confirmed on Tuesday that Iran had enriched uranium to a level used in nuclear power plants.
He said Iran has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency that it plans to install 3,000 centrifuges at Natanz by late 2006, then expand to 54,000 centrifuges, though he did not say when.
He said using 54,000 centrifuges will be able to produce enough enriched uranium to provide fuel for a 1,000-megawat nuclear power plant like the one Russia is currently putting the finishing touches on in southern Iran.
But, why does the fourth leading exporter of oil need so much nuclear derived electricity? Of course, this is a sham.
Iran desires enough enriched uranium to fabricate a nuclear weapon.
Watch the West’s responses – is the United States, Israel and EU stalling for time?
And why?
Will President Bush draw down Amderican troops in Iraq and simply redeploy them towards Iran?
The IAEA is due to report to the U.N. Security Council on April 28 whether Iran has met its demand for a full halt to uranium enrichment. If Tehran has not complied, the council will consider the next step. The U.S. and Europe are pressing for sanctions against Iran, a step Russia and China have so far opposed.
Stay tuned…..
