Iran Nuclear Watch: President Bush – “Iran Has Weeks NOT Months”
Iranian technicians remove a container of radioactive uranium — that was previously sealed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) — to be used at the Isfahan uranium conversion facilities (UCF) in August 2005. A cleric close to Iran’s supreme leader has said Tehran would not suspend its nuclear program of uranium enrichment.
Reuters: Bush says Iran has “weeks not months” to respond
President George W. Bush said on Friday that Iran has “weeks not months” to respond to a U.S.-backed offer aimed at containing Iran’s nuclear ambitions and said Tehran needs to suspend uranium enrichment.
Bush said if Iran does not suspend enrichment, “there must be a consequence” and that it would be action taken in the U.N. Security Council.
“We have given the Iranians a limited period of time, weeks not months,” to respond to an offer for an incentives package for Iran to ensure it does not pursue nuclear weapons, said Bush.
In all probability they have until the G8 meeting in St. Petersburg beginning July 15th. Of course, Iran could reject the Big 6 offer at any time. But, this is doubtful.
French President Jacques Chirac (R) and British Prime Minister Tony Blair , give a press conference at the Elysee Palace in Paris, during the Franco-British summit focused on Europe’s energy supplies and Iran ‘s nuclear program
President Bush is making these statements because he has heard enough “bellyaching” from the Mullahs and Ahmadinejad over the details of the Big 6 initiative. And Bush, plus the Europeans are not going to stand by while the Iranians manipulate the Western media cycle to bash them daily.
The proposal is simple.
Iran STOPS uranium enrichment or face United Nations Security Council “CONSEQUENCES.”

Canada Terrorism Watch: Representative John Hostettler – South Toronto a Breeding Ground for Islamic Terrorists
Representative John Hostettler
The Globe and Mail: U.S. politician blasts Toronto as a hotbed of Islamic extremism
A U.S. congressman warned yesterday that Canada, and in particular the enclave of “South Toronto,” was a breeding ground for Islamic terrorists and that the United States will be under threat as long as passports are not required of all Canadians crossing the border.
“South Toronto, like those parts of London that are host to the radical imams who influenced the 9/11 terrorists and the shoe bomber, has people who adhere to a militant understanding of Islam,” said John Hostettler, chairman of the House of Representatives subcommittee on immigration and border security, noting that Toronto has a very large South Asian community.
Later, when asked by reporters to describe “South Toronto” in greater detail, Mr. Hostettler said it was “a location which I understand is the type of enclave that allows for this radical type of discussion to go on.”
The Indiana Republican painted a picture of Canada as a hotbed of Islamic extremists intent on inflicting their terrorist damage on their southern neighbours while Canadians sat in blissful ignorance of the danger in their midst.
“It is fair to say that the Canadian border is virtually unguarded,” Mr. Hostettler said. “Canadians, as well as those [who are] imposters pretending to be Canadians or returning American tourists, roll through our border ports of entry with little or no document inspections.”
He said that the 17 terrorist suspects arrested in Toronto demonstrated “an unsuccessful adoption of traditional Canadian values.”
“If we needed a clear case for why there needs to be a dramatic increase in security along the northern border . . . the example of this past week’s terrorist arrests in Toronto is very dramatic,” he said.
The Canadian border needs to be tightened. Requiring strict passport controls may harm tourism along the American-Canadian broder in the short run but assures better long term security for both countries.
The House-Senate Conference Committee should strip or modify the proposed delay in implementation of increased passport controls as contained in the Senate immigration bill. The northern border needs to be as tight as the southern one.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati Comes Out Against Big 6 Initiative
Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati delivers a sermon during Friday prayers in Tehran, October 7, 2005. The powerful Iranian cleric said on Friday a package of incentives offered by six major powers would never stop Iran making nuclear fuel.
ASSociated Press: Cleric urges Iran to reject nuclear deal
A top hard-line cleric on Friday came out against a Western incentive package aimed at persuading Iran to suspend uranium enrichment, reflecting conservative pressure on the government to reject the offer.
It was not immediately clear if Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati’s comments in any way represented the Iranian government. Jannati is the head of the powerful Guardian Council, a constitutional watchdog arbitrating between the parliament and the government. He is not considered a government official.
Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has the final say in all state matters, has overruled hard-liners previously in the nuclear dispute.
“The package they have presented is a package (that is) good for them. It’s not good for Iran,” Jannati said in his Friday prayer sermon.
So, is this a NO Ahmadinejad? The Mullahs who pull your strings have spoken, No?
Sounds like it.
But, the United States knew Iran would react this way. Why?
Iran covets nuclear weapons and will not be deterred on a path to secure and manufacture them.
Jannati said Iran must continue enriching uranium.
“We have to maintain enrichment to the level of 3.5 to 5 percent. They have no choice but to accept it,” Jannati added. Uranium enriched to this level is used in nuclear reactors to produce electricity. It needs to be enriched to more than 90 percent for use in a warhead.
This will be unacceptable to the Big 6 and the deal fails. Sanctions next?
Probably unless Iran provokes a crisis which is likely.
