Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – “The Iranian People Will Make You Bow and Surrender”
H/T: LGF
Following are excerpts from a speech delivered by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which aired on Iranian News Channel (IRINN) on August 15, 2006:
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: When they talk about a “New Middle East,” they mean a Middle East that is held captive by America, England, and the Zionist regime. When they talk about a “New Middle East,” they do not mean progress, development, independence, or freedom for the countries [of the region]. They oppose independence, freedom, and progress. Look at Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, and other places. I say to them: The peoples of the region have awakened. It so happens that our peoples are also calling for a New Middle East. The Middle East that our peoples want is a free Middle East, which is not under the control of America and England.
[…]
Those who were involved in planning this barbaric attack, those who supported this barbaric attack, and those who prevented the cease-fire are accomplices in the crimes of the Zionist regime, and must be placed on trial. To be more specific, America and England purport to support human rights, freedom, and democracy. When a cat’s leg is run over by a municipal vehicle in some city, they hold a mourning ceremony. But they had the audacity to postpone the cease-fire for at least three weeks. They explicitly declared that the Zionist regime should be allowed to crush the resistance, and to occupy the land, and that [only] then would there be a cease-fire. I want to declare loud and clear, so that the whole world will hear: These two countries are not worthy of being members of the Security Council.
[…]
If you want to have good relations with the Iranian people in the future, you should acknowledge the right and the might of the Iranian people, and you should bow and surrender to the might of the Iranian people. If you do not accept this, the Iranian people will force you to bow and surrender.
A portent for tomorrow’s announcement on the P-5-Plus-1 nuclear proposal?
Perhaps…..
The Video is here.
Update #1
Yoni the blogger is not optomistic about tomorrow’s deadline.
This is an update on August 22 from a phone call.
Just a reminder that Iran has said that it will give its answer to the world on its nuclear program on August 22.
Their is now intelligence that is beyond chatter an Iranian general has told a top Iranian politician that the answer would come in a big flash like lighting. There is also intelligence to suggest that the answer will be delivered in Jerusalem.
According to my source the current intelligence puts Iran holding nukes in 3-6 months.
Israel is taking steps to counter the threat.
Update #2
Allah says enough already with the August 22 crap…..
Update #3
Dr. Rusty has It’s Already 8/22 In Tehran
Has been for hours. Tomorrow is today. Funny how those time zone thingies work that way.
And yet the Hidden Imam is still hidden, Tel Aviv is still not suffering radiation afterglow, Hizbollah sleeper cells still have not bombed Detroit, Stotch still has regular moral dilemas, and Vinnie is still passed out drunk in his bomb shelter where he dug in awaiting the end of times.
So far so good – Rusty…….
Update #4Powerline has Hidden in plain view
Can anyone connect the dots here? These folks are making it awfully difficult to avert our eyes:
Ali Larijani, secretary of the Iranian Supreme Council for National Security: Article 11 of the NPT states that if we are threatened, we can act in secret. If you want our activity to be transparent, you should not use the Security Council as leverage for your own benefit. If you do so, then according to the NPT, we are required to act in secret, in the face of your threat…Reporter: Has Iran begun enrichment on an industrial scale, or does it have a plan to do so soon?
Ali Larijani: Iran has such a plan…We are not doing anything beyond our rights.
Is anyone paying attention?
Yes and Israel’s nukes are already in the air, in case Iran strikes Jerusalem.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Blocks United Nations Nuclear Inspections
Iran President Ahmadinejad said last Tuesday Iran would not yield to Western pressure to give up its home-grown nuclear technology.
AP is reporting that diplomats in Austria say Iran has refused U.N. inspectors access to its underground nuclear site, in apparent violation of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty.

Israel at War Watch: UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan Expected To Give UNIFIL Teeth
United Nations peacekeepers from France, atop an APC, disembark from a landing vessel in the port of the southern border town of Naqoura, Lebanon.
JPost: Annan to give UNIFIL ‘teeth’
UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan is expected to recommend Monday that the rules of engagement of the enhanced UNIFIL force to be deployed in Lebanon include opening fire on Hizbullah where necessary, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
While UN Security Council Resolution 1701 mandated an enhanced UNIFIL force to help the Lebanese Army deploy south and along the border with Syria, it did not spell out the operational procedures of this force.
Israel has been pushing for the need for an effective force, arguing that one of the criteria would be the ability to open fire on Hizbullah if the force saw, for instance, Hizbullah launching rockets toward Israel. This matter came up at a meeting Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni held last week in New York with Annan.
One would expect that any credible international peace keeping force would have had these rules of enegagement form the beginning. This, again, demonstrates the weakness of the United Nations.
Frankly, Flap does not give much credence to Annan’s move here. The Lebanese Army is suspect in policing Hezbollah and will not forcibly disarm them – they are in effect just standing around – not doing much.
The UNIFIL folks will forcibly prevent Syria and Iran from rearming Hezbollah?
Doubtful
UNSCR 1701 has been a failure. Be prepared for an end to the cease-fire.
Stay tuned….the President has scheduled a news conference within the next hour.
Captain Ed has UNIFIL Teeth Sharpened?

Iran Nuclear Watch: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei – Iran Will Continue Nuclear Program
AP: Iran says it won’t stop nuclear program
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Monday that Tehran will continue to pursue nuclear technology, despite aU.N. Security Council deadline to suspend uranium enrichment by the end of the month or face the threat of economic and diplomatic sanctions.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has made its own decision and in the nuclear case, God willing, with patience and power, will continue its path,” Khamenei was quoted as saying by state television.
You have to say that President Ahmadinejad and Supreme Cleric Khamenei have been consistent. Flap wonders if Foggey bottom and the Europeans have received the message through their thick fog of denial.
He accused the United States of putting pressure on Iran despite Tehran’s assertions that it was not seeking nuclear weapons. “Arrogant powers and the U.S. are putting their utmost pressure on Iran while knowing Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons,” he said.
Iran does NOT wish to negotiate – they don’t want to DANCE.
The West can pursue sanctions or await Iran going nuclear. The latter seems the direction of the West to their detriment.
Stay tuned for the formal announcement on the P-5-Plus-1 proposal.

Israel at War Watch: Israel Preparing for More Fighting?
Telegraph: Israel is ‘preparing for more fighting’
Any chance of long-term peace between Lebanon and Israel all but vanished last night after Amir Peretz, the Israeli defence minister, said his country was preparing for another round of fighting.
Mr Peretz spoke only hours after Israeli commandos mounted a raid deep inside Lebanon. Kofi Annan, the United Nations secretary general, said it was a violation of the week-old UN ceasefire.
With talks on a beefed-up peacekeeping force for southern Lebanon apparently stalled, Mr Annan’s senior envoy for the Middle East, Terje Roed-Larsen, said there was a danger of the situation “sliding out of control”. Mr Peretz issued his warning during the weekly cabinet meeting when he promised full transparency in the internal inquiry into his government’s handling of the 34-day conflict with Hizbollah.
“We will put everything on the table,” he was quoted as saying. “Our duty is to prepare for the next round.”
Israel had better prepare to WIN this time. The survival of Olmert’s government depends upon it.
Now, the world has seen the WEAKNESS of the United Nations and the U.N.’s lack of credibility – just in time for the Iran nuclear announcements on the 22nd.
Stay tuned…..
