AP: McGovern to Meet With Congress on War
George McGovern, the former senator and Democratic presidential candidate, said Thursday that he will meet with more than 60 members of Congress next week to recommend a strategy to remove U.S. troops from Iraq by June.
If Democrats don’t take steps to end the war in Iraq soon, they won’t be in power very long, McGovern told reporters before a speech at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Why not tie our own hands behind our backs and put our collective heads on the chopping block for the islamfacists? Make it easier on them; we don’t want to be accused of more “TORTURE” like when we humiliated the poor wittle ones by putting a dog collar on some. No. Can’t do that.
Oh. Those three thousand souls that were murdered on September 11th? Killed by “extremist factions” of an otherwise peaceful religion. You know, the same extremists that saw the heads off non-believers and stone women to death for not being islamic enough. We can’t use force against them, can we?
But we CAN turn on our heels and run away, can’t we George? We can allow the terrorists to run amuck in Iraq and cleanse the streets of anyone who is not sufficiently islamic.
General Curis LeMay said “If you kill enough of them, they stop fighting” and truer words have not been spoken. The killing did not stop in Vietnam when the US abandoned it’s responsibility. Just like in Korea and Vietnam and Cambodia and Laos and China. Remember that George? How many million humans must be sacrificed before the realization hits home?
What realization, George? The only too-human one that acknowledges evil and seeks to prevent violence and harm from coming to innocent people. Someone has to get hurt and it’s much better (MUCH better, George) that those whom are hurt are the bad guys.
We aren’t the bad guys, George. No, not even you. We are the GOOD guys.
Another realization for you, George. We are at war. Pick a side.
