Pakistan Watch: Pakistan Army Destroys Al Qaeda Hideout Near Afghan Border

AP: Pakistan army destroys al-Qaida hideouts
Pakistan’s army destroyed three suspected al-Qaida hideouts in an air strike near the Afghan border on Tuesday, killing several members of the terror group, an army spokesman said.
The military carried out the operation in South Waziristan tribal region after receiving information that 25 to 30 al-Qaida members were hiding there, said army spokesman Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan.
“We believe most of them were killed, but we don’t have a body count,” he said.
Sultan said some terror group members at the sites were foreigners, but “no high-value target was believed to be there.”
Sultan said the destroyed al-Qaida hideouts were in an isolated area near the village of Zaoola, which is close to North Waziristan where the government in September signed a controversial peace deal with tribal elders to halt military operations against militants.
In return, local militants and tribal elders at the time promised to not provide shelter to any foreign militants, nor target Pakistani security forces and pro-government elders.
However, the government has not signed any such deal in South Waziristan, where the military has carried out scores of operations against al-Qaida and their local supporters since the September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States.
Wait until tomorrow for the Pakistan protests and/or riots.
Job well done…….
KILL THEM ALL……..

AP: Castro reportedly in grave condition
Ailing Cuban leader Fidel Castro is in “very grave” condition after three failed operations and complications from an intestinal infection, a Spanish newspaper said Tuesday.
The newspaper El Pais cited two unnamed sources from the Gregorio Maranon hospital in the Spanish capital of Madrid. The facility employs surgeon Jose Luis Garcia Sabrido, who flew to Cuba in December to treat the 80-year-old Castro.
In a report published on its Web site, El Pais said: “A grave infection in the large intestine, at least three failed operations and various complications have left the Cuban dictator, Fidel Castro, laid up with a very grave prognosis.”Flap thinks the 80 year old dictator is done…….
Stay tuned…….

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran To Install 3,000 Uranium Enrichment Centrifuges
Readers: Please Vote in Flap’s January 2008 GOP Presidential Poll
AFP: Iran eyes at least 3,000 centrifuges at nuclear plant
Iran is aiming to install at least 3,000 centrifuges at a key nuclear plant, the government spokesman said, confirming Tehran would make a major announcement on its atomic programme next month.
“We are heading towards a production of nuclear fuel that needs 3,000 and even more centrifuges,” spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham told reporters on Monday. “Our aim is to ensure our industrial needs.”
“We are going in this direction. We are in the process of completing our programme and this will be announced shortly during the 10 days of Fajr,” he said, referring to celebrations for the 28th anniversary of the Islamic revolution from February 1-11.
Iran continues (despite United Nations resolution 1737) to enrich uranium in oder to manufacture a nuclear weapon. Who is Iran kidding?
In the meantime,
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad waves to the crowd as he leaves the National Congress after attending the inauguration ceremony of Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa, in Quito. Ahmadinejad promised to aid Ecuador and other Latin nations to defend themselves against the United States as he attended the inauguration of Correa.
But, apparently Iran has been having problems with their uranium enrichment program.
Iran’s failure to instal the 3,000 centrifuges by Dec. 31 has provoked reports that it is encountering technical difficulties in mastering large-scale enrichment.
Further, earlier this month, Vice President Gholamreza Aghazadeh, who heads the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, told reporters that about 50 centrifuges had exploded during a test.
“We had installed 50 centrifuges. One night, I was informed that all the 50 centrifuges had exploded…(President Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad called me and said: ‘Build these machines even if they explode 10 times more’,” Aghazadeh was quoted as saying by Iranian media.
Diplomats in Vienna – where the International Atomic Energy Agency is based – said Thursday that the enrichment program in Natanz, central Iran, had ground to a halt.
Tick Tock Tick Tock
The “NUCLEAR POINT OF NO RETURN” is imminent.
And look what is now being deployed to the Persian Gulf…..

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Soul-Searching, Waiting or Campaigning SMART?
Readers: Please Vote in Flap’s January 2008 GOP Presidential Poll
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and his wife Judith enjoy the festivities, along with Bahamian Prime Minister Perry G. Christie, right, at the Boxing Day Junkanoo parade in downtown Nassau in the Bahamas on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006.
KLo: Waiting might prove best strategy for Rudy Giuliani
Abstinence educators and responsible parents teach young people to resist the urge for instant gratification. When it comes to the Republican presidential field, a similar strategy of waiting may prove fruitful for Rudolph Giuliani.
Of course, Rudy 2008 would be well advised to avoid the subject of sex — an area that highlights his troubled personal past and not-so-conservative positions on reproductive issues. But if Rudy can be patient and practice political abstinence as his rivals engage in hot combat, the former New York City mayor could prove to have a leg up in the 2008 Republican race.
Mayor Giuliani has been leading in almost ALL public opinion polls – primary, general election and favorability – against all comers GOP and Democrat.
Why should Rudy have to play inside gotcha politics of self-destruction for the GOP? Why does Giuliani have to ignore the GOP’s 11th Commandment:
“Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican.â€
Hotline: Rudy Still Soul-Searching?
The AP has some quotes from Rudy Giuliani’s 1/12 appearance in DE.
Giuliani: “I think the biggest question you have to ask is, ‘Can you really lead the country?’ If I believe that I can do it, then I will, and if I don’t, then I’ll support somebody else.”
Flap reassures the pundits in DC. – Rudy is running and organization is coming into place – even in California. Remember Rudy is LEADING in the polls without campaigning, media buys or other inside political baseball.
So, while Mitt Romney and John McCain go after each other……..
Stay tuned…..
