Rudy Giuliani Watch: Rudy Leading Hillary 47% to 44% in Latest National Rasmussen Poll
Republican presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani answers a voter’s question during a campaign stop in Derry, New Hampshire, August 16, 2007.
Rasmussen’s General Election Poll has Rudy beating Hillary Clinton 47% to 44%.
In six polls conducted between November 2006 and April of this year, Giuliani was ahead of Clinton each time with margins ranging from two to nine points. The match-up between the frontrunners tightened from May to early July. During that stretch, the two candidates were within a point of each other four times. Clinton led by a single point in a July 10 survey, the only time all year she’s topped Giuliani in a national poll.
However, the last two polls show Giuliani ahead once again.
Real Clear politics has an interactive graph that shows the general election polling over many sources.
The race is close.
Flap knows the race will continue to be close with just a few states in play, including Florida and Pennsylvania.

Senator Larry Craig Watch: News Conference Saturday – Will Craig Resign?
*****Update*****Senator Larry Craig will resign effective September 30 tomorrow according to GOP sources.
Idaho Gov. C.L. Butch Otter will appoint Idaho Lieutenant Governor James E. Risch to serve out the remainder of Larry Craig’s term. Senior Republican sources said Risch was the consensus choice after it was determined that the two members of Idaho’s Republican Congressional delegation – Mike Simpson and Bill Sali – would not be tabbed to replace Craig.Senator Larry Craig will hold a news conference Saturday in Boise, Idaho to announce his Senate career plans.Flap missed the call for a resignation today. But, will Craig resign tomorrow or not?
Dan Whiting, Craig’s spokesman, said the senator would hold a news conference in Boise Saturday but would not say whether he will step down. Idaho Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter already appears to have settled on a successor: Lt. Gov. Jim Risch, according to several Republicans familiar with internal deliberations.
President Bush when asked today whether Craig should resign, walked off the stage not answering the question.
Is this a hint?
Senator Craig should resign and Idaho Governor Otter should immediately appoint a successor so that Idaho will have two functioning United States Senators after the Labor Day recess.
Stay tuned…….

Fugitive Democrat Fundraiser Norman Hsu’s California Contributions Under Scrutiny
*****Update*****
Norman Hsu turns himself into authorities and is jailed.
A top Democratic fundraiser wanted as a fugitive in California turned himself in Friday to face a grand theft charge.
San Mateo County Superior Court Judge H. James Ellis ordered Norman Hsu handcuffed and held on $2 million bond. A bail hearing was scheduled for Sept. 5, at which the judge will consider reducing his bail to $1 million.
Hsu appeared in court accompanied by a lawyer and publicist, both of whom declined to say whether the New York apparel executive would immediately post bail. A warrant was issued for his arrest after he skipped the sentencing for a 1991 grand theft charge.
In the ensuing years, Hsu became a top donor to numerous Democratic candidates and was a fundraiser for presidential contender Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. He also had contributed to Sen. Barack Obama’s past Senate campaign and his political action committee.
Norman Hsu, a convicted felon fugitive and Democrat Fundraiser for Hillary Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton
Well, they have been active in California state and local politics as well – to the tune of $53,000.
Let’s see who received the obviously TAINTED money:
Antonio Villaraigosa, Mayor of Los Angeles
California Attorney General Jerry Brown and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom
San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris
Former San Francisco Supervisor and now California Democrat Assemblywoman Fiona Ma. She represents Daly City where the Paw family residence is.
Rob Reiner’s “Pre-School for All” campaign, which became Proposition 82 on the June 2006 ballot
Democrat Congresswoman Doris Matsui (middle right)
Former California Controller and Democrat candidate for Governor in 2006, Steve Westly
Former California Treasurer and Democrat nominee for California Governor in 2006, Phil Angelides
Hsu et. al. have also given considerable sums to the California Democrat Party.
According to state and local records, Hsu has given more than $53,000 to various political efforts in the state since 2004, including $27,600 to the state Democratic Party, $5,000 to 2006 gubernatorial hopeful Steve Westly and $10,000 to Hollywood director Rob Reiner’s “Pre-School for All” campaign, which became Proposition 82 on the June 2006 ballot.
The state party gave $26,600 of that money back three weeks after Hsu donated it in 2004, said Bob Mulholland, a party consultant.
“Mr. Hsu asked for the money to be returned, saying he had made the donation in error,” Mulholland said. “We haven’t returned the $1,000 he gave us earlier this year, but the party will be looking at that contribution.”
Calling the Federal Elections Commission and the California Fair Political Practices Commission, what in the hell have you been doing?
Standard = NOTHING
Flap says there is a political scandal here involving offshore Chinese interests which are not only illegal but subversive to the American politcal system.

Senator Larry Craig Watch: Resignation Today?
Senator Larry Craig, R-Idaho, left, speaks to reporters, with his wife Suzanne, Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 28, 2007, in Boise, Idaho. Under fire from leaders of his own party, Larry Craig, accused of lewd conduct in a men’s room, declared Tuesday, ‘I am not gay’ and said the only thing he did wrong was plead guilty to a criminal charge.
Flap missed the call yesterday. But, now Craig MAY resign today.
Had Craig resigned on Tuesday he would have spared himself MOST of the grief. Didn’t he realize once he was arrested that his “political” career was over?
Flap supposes that ambition and power can cloud your better judgment – or is it arrogance?
Stay tuned…….

Fred Thompson Watch: Thompson to Announce September 6 – Ducks GOP Debate
Former Senator Fred Thompson speaks during the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ 108th National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri August 21, 2007. Thompson will make his candidacy for the White House official next week and tour through the early 2008 voting states, his campaign said on Thursday.
Fred Thompson announced today that he will announce his candidacy for the Presidency on Thursday, September 6th.
In the meantime, it is being reported that Thompson will appear on the NBC Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Wednesday night, September 5th, thereby missing a Fox News sponsored GOP debate in New Hampshire.
Fred is entering the race late and then DUCKS his first chance to discuss the issues in a GOP debate.
Bad move because it reinforces the CW that Thompson is LAZY and doesn’t have the “fire in his belly” to run a Presidential campaign……..and his poll numbers are already declining.

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Today’s Presidential Polls
Republican presidential hopeful, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani quotes remarks from French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s new book as he talks about his tax plan during a campaign stop in Manchester, N.H., Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007
Rudy – 26%
Thompson – 21%
McCain – 12%
Romney – 9%
Romney – 27%
Rudy – 17%
Huckabee – 14%
Thompson – 13%
Romney – 27%
Rudy – 23%
McCain – 12%
Thompson – 8%
Rudy – 51%
Thompson – 12%
Romney – 9%
McCain – 7%
McCain – 24%
Romney – 19%
Rudy – 18%
Thompson- 17%
In today’s polling we see the emergence of Miuke Huckabee and the cratering of John McCain’s campaign. Flap agrees that McCain will probably leave the campaign after he receives enough public money to pay off his consultants. This will help Rudy.
Fred Thompson is being challenged for the number two spot and even though he announced today that he will formally announce next Thursday, September 6, his candidacy for the Presidency he has been stable or fading in the polls since the inital buzz about his candidacy.
Flap agrees that this race will boil down to Rudy vs. Mitt with Giuliani the clear frontrunner.
