Some Giuliani After Dark
Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani speaks at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Conn., Tuesday, July 31, 2007.
The New York Times discusses the friendship between Fox News Executive Roger Ailes and the Mayor. Is the NYT’s implying that the Mayor receives favorable coverage from Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. and Fox News?
Yeah, but, consider the source. The Times is sore that Murdoch just purchased the Wall Street Journal and will mightily compete with the NYT for circulation.
Lastly, tonight, Rudy was on the Charlie Rose Show.
The transcript is here and the video when it is available is here.
There are previous Rose interviews with the Mayor here.
Flap thinks you will find both pieces a way to finish the day.
See you tomorrow…….

John Edwards Calls Rudy Giuliani – “Bush on Steroids”
John Edwards 28,000 square foot compound in North Carolina
Former Senator and defeated Vice President candidate John Edwards called former Mayor Rudy Giuliani – BUSH ON STEROIDS after a recent campaign event in San Francisco. But Edwards saved his biggest bomb for the mini presser afterward, where he responded to Giuliani’s jibe that he and Obama and Hillary, “do not understand a capitalistic economy.â€
“What Giuliani is, is George Bush on steroids.†Edwards said. “Giuliani, Romney and the rest of the Republicans running for the nomination are going to give the country four more years of crony capitalism, which is exactly what we have now. We have insurance companies and drug companies and oil companies running this government. They need to be stopped. And Giuliani just wants to empower them.â€
The fact is John Edwards = HYPOCRITE.
Listen to Edwards campaigning in Dover New Hampshire:

And, then look at his 25,000 square foot home above.
John Edwards understands a capitalistic economy, he lives in it.
However, what John Edwards does NOT understand is that socialist type redistribution policies hurt American businesses and investment.
The Mayor’s quote:
“This is one of the things they do not understand, whether it’s Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama or John Edwards – they do not understand a capitalistic economy. They think it’s bad to make money,†he said, adding that he sees no shame in someone wanting to be rich.
Indeed……

Congressman Earl Pomeroy’s Macaca Moment – Calls President Bush “A Clown”
[googlevideo]http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5233237067205661788&hl=en[/googlevideo]
North Dakota Congressman, Earl Pomeroy, says he won’t vote to impeach President Bush but calls him ” A CLOWN” anyway.
North Dakota’s U.S. Rep. Earl Pomeroy calls President Bush a “clown†and says he “can’t stand†him in a new video posted on the Internet.
The Democratic congressman was approached by a group called Grassroots America last week as he was walking the streets of Washington, D.C.
You bet.
The RNC just identified another “vulnerable” Democrat incumbent Congressional seat.

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Is Barack Obama Plagiarising Rudy?
Democratic presidential hopeful, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., delivers a speech about terrorism, Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington. Obama said Wednesday that he would send troops into Pakistan to hunt down terrorists even without local permission if warranted — an attempt to show strength when his chief rival has described his foreign policy skills as naive.
…..Just because the President misrepresents our enemies does not mean we do not have them. The terrorists are at war with us. The threat is from violent extremists who are a small minority of the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims, but the threat is real. They distort Islam. They kill man, woman and child; Christian and Hindu, Jew and Muslim. They seek to create a repressive caliphate. To defeat this enemy, we must understand who we are fighting against, and what we are fighting for. ….(emphasis Flap’s)
Drew Cline points out that Obama has picked up on Rudy’s line.
In his speech on terrorism today, Sen. Barack Obama referred to the war on terror with a term almost identical to the one Rudy Giuliani invented for his campaign. Instead of saying “war on terror,†he said “al-Qaida’s war against us. . .†and “the terrorists are at war with us.â€
Rudy’s coinage is “the terrorists’ war on us.â€
Barack, you AIN”T Rudy but like Slow Joe Plagiarizing Biden, you know a good line, now don’t ya?
Sheesh – empty suit indeed……..

Barack Obama Watch: Troops Into Pakistan?
Democratic presidential hopeful, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., delivers a speech about terrorism, Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington.
In a speech about terrorism, Senator Barack Obama that he would possibly send troops into Pakistan to hunt down terrorists.
The quotes:
“Let me make this clear,” Obama said in a speech prepared for delivery at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. “There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an al-Qaida leadership meeting in 2005. If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won’t act, we will.”
Kiss Barack good-bye…….
In an attempt to look MACHO in contrast to Hillary, Obama has taken naivety to a new level.
Hillary trapped Barack by calling attention to his lack of foreign policy experience and maturity.
Obama’s speech comes the week after his rivalry with New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton erupted into a public fight over their diplomatic intentions.
Obama said he would be willing to meet leaders of rogue states like Cuba, North Korea and Iran without conditions, an idea that Clinton criticized as irresponsible and naive. Obama responded by using the same words to describe Clinton’s vote to authorize the Iraq war and called her “Bush-Cheney lite.”
Now, he won’t even make a Vice President candidate for Hillary.
Wonder what the LEFT thinks of him now?
Well, they are already calling Obama a NEO-CON favoring pre-emptive war.
Update:
Jerome Armstrong, lefty extraordinaire over at MyDD calls out Barack:
Basically, a continuation of the Bush doctrine of unilateral pre-emptive attacks in the mid-east, with Obama adding Pakistan to the list.
And this:
Update: Obama: Calls for Unilateral War Against Pakistan
This follows up on something he said in 2004, when he suggested that he would support launching missles against Pakistan and Iran to prevent extremists from getting nuclear weapons.
Who’s acting like Bush now?
For me the most disturbing part is that he is calling not for an international coalition or increased assistance to the Pakistani government, but for a military invasion of a sovereign nation.
Barack Obama called the invasion of Iraq a “stupid war.” How is this smarter? Aren’t there better options than sending an already-stretched military into a hostile nation with a moderate government?
Flap thinks Obama will have a difficult time this weekend in Chicago at the Daily Kos Convention.
Will Kos Kids BOO the latest Neo-Con Bush chimp?

The Miguel Contreras Learning Complex Pool Flap
The Miguel Contreras Learning Complex opened across the street from the Los Angeles Chamber at 3rd and Bixel on Sept. 5, 2006 to 1,800 students.
Looks like Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Vilaraigosa, his parks department and the Los Angeles Unifed School District is in trouble again.
The water was off-limits. But it certainly seemed somebody was all wet Tuesday afternoon at an Olympic-size swimming pool near downtown Los Angeles.
Was it Vilma Cortez, who was standing outside 3rd Street’s new Miguel Contreras Learning Complex, demanding that its high school pool be open to neighborhood kids such as her own three children, who are whiling away the summer sitting in their nearby apartment?
Was it Los Angeles Unified School District administrators, who say the pool is already plenty used by students enrolled in campus summer school programs?
Maybe the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, which insists the school pool was never designed for public access and lacks shallow kiddie wading areas, adequate showers and locker facilities?
Or perhaps Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, whose staff has voiced concern that public access to the pool is impractical from both a safety and liability standpoint?
What is the real problem here?
Is it perhaps the Mayor does not want to draw attention to the residents of this community who are primarily illegal aliens? Does he want to keep the rift-raft and Mexican Gang Bangers out?
Or does he wish to defuse criticism that the City and LAUSD are spending public money on illegal alien kids?
Flap understands that KFI’s (640 AM Los Angeles Radio) John and Ken will weigh in on this story this afternoon.
Stay tuned…….
The $160-million campus features three small learning communities and one autonomous New Technology High School, the Los Angeles School of Global Studies.
The Chamber and its affiliate UNITE-LA have been integral partners and instrumental in the development of the campus, which will equip students with 21st century skills to help them excel in an information-based, technologically advanced society.

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Why The You Tube Debate is Flawed

Patrick Ruffini sinks his own ship.
He says Rudy could not be ambushed because all of the You Tube Videos will be posted online prior to the debate.
Thus, the campaigns would be able to prepare their candidates in advance to answer those prickly and awkward questions.
So, the debate would not only be MORONIC but now IRRELEVANT.
Rudy should tell CNN/You Tube to take a hike.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa Watch: Pay to Play at LAUSD
John Torres, right, special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, holds a Ruger Mini-14, a .53-caliber semiautomatic rifle, one of several weapons seized or bought undercover, as Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, left, and City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo listen at a Los Angeles news conference after law enforcement authorities fanned out across harbor areas of Los Angeles and Long Beach, Calif., early Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in a huge sweep of gang members aimed at taking down violent offenders. Hundreds of federal agents and local police officers took part in the campaign that started at around 4 a.m.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Vilaraigosa spent over $3.5 million on Los Angeles Unified School District races to gain allies on the LAUSD Board, reports the Los Angeles Times.
And it is the usual “PAY TO PLAY” in the City.
Los Angles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa at Panda Express opening at Universal City Walk, JUly 25, 2007
If you want a development project approved, you contribute to the Mayor’s pet project – the control of Los Angeles City Schools.
To help his candidates, Villaraigosa turned to an array of companies seeking to do business at City Hall, including real estate developers, media companies and potential tenants at Los Angeles International Airport.
Partnership for Better Schools received $25,000 from Entravision Communications Corp., a Santa Monica-based Spanish-language media firm that, according to its lobbying forms, is seeking new “advertising opportunities” with the city.
The committee also took $50,000 from Panda Restaurant Group, which hopes to obtain restaurant concessions at LAX. And it received $100,000 from New York City-based Fig Central LLC, which is seeking permission from Villaraigosa’s appointees on the Planning Commission to build an 860-unit condominium complex across the street from Staples Center.
And, once you have your amigos installed as LAUSD Board members, they vote to waive the reimbursement of legal fees owed the District from the failed Mayoral efforts to “take over” the LAUSD.
Flap asks: Is there a Grand Jury operating in Los Angeles County?
