Senator Tim Johnson Watch: I’m Back
Senator Tim Johnson, D-S.D. and his wife Barbara acknowledge the crowd as Johnson takes the stage for a homecoming event, Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Tim Johnson, speaking slowly and slurring some words more than eight months after experiencing a life-threatening brain hemorrhage, announced Tuesday to state residents: ‘I am back.’
In the Senator’s first public appearance since last December’s brain bleed the 60-year-old Democrat spoke for about 15 minutes to a cheering crowd at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
Johnson hinted that he would run for re-election:
The senator, who has not officially said whether he is running for re-election in 2008, hinted he would. “My will to keep fighting for you has never been stronger,” he said.
Tuesday’s celebration was a carefully choreographed gathering that took on the appearance of a campaign event; choirs, religious leaders and a string of politicians praised Johnson.
Sen. Johnson, right, assisted by Clinical Supervisor, Physical Therapy Service, Marti Carroll at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, May 16, 2007.
Flap continues to believe the Senator will NOT run for re-election. Look for him to continue to raise money for a campaign but ultimately WILL withdraw in favor of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle.
Stay tuned……

Senator Larry Craig Watch: I am NOT Gay
Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, seen during a hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington in this May 25, 2006, photo asked his family, friends, and Idahoas for forgiveness Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, for pleading guilty in his lewd conduct arrest in Minnesota, for not informing them of it, and said ‘I am not gay.’
Everyone knows Craig is going to resign why is he prolonging the agony for his wife, friends and fellow Idahoans?
The Quotes:
- “I overreacted and made a poor decision,” Craig told reporters in a nationally televised statement from Downtown Boise.
- “Let me be clear,†he said. “I am not gay, I never have been gay.â€
- “I am not gay. I love my wife, my family, I care about friends and staff and Idaho, I love serving this great state,†he said. “There are still goals I would like to accomplish and I believe I can still be an effective leader for this state.â€
- “I chose to plead guilty to a lesser charge in hopes of making it go away,†he said. Not seeking counsel was “a mistake and I deeply regret it.â€
- “Please let me apologize to my family friends and staff, and fellow Idahoans, for the cloud placed over Idaho,†he said. “I did nothing wrong and I regret the decision to plead guilty and the sadness that decision has brought on my family, friends, staff and fellow Idahoans, and for that I apologize.â€
- “I was not involved in any inappropriate conduct,” he said.
The Senate WILL begin an ethics investigation and Senator Craig WILL resign.
Update:

Rudy Giuliani Watch: The Florida Firewall
Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani speaks to reporters outside a fund raiser as Congresswoman Candice Miller, R-Mich. listens in Detroit, Monday, Aug. 27 2007
Sorry Chris but talking about a Florida FIREWALL for Rudy is NOT NEWS.
Here is how the campaign breaks down:
- Iowa goes to Romney and Rudy finishes back in the pack
- Nevada goes to Romney
- New Hampshire is up for grabs and Rudy may win or finish second. Romney will do well. McCain will make a last stand.
- South Carolina: Rudy will contend there but the state is a natural for Fred Thompson. Romney’s campaign momentum will stall in South Carolina. After South Carolina McCain will drop out endorsing Rudy – in any event his voters will go to Rudy.
- Michigan: Rudy will contend if they move the primary up
- Florida: Rudy wins with Fred Thompson second. There will be an all out media campaign to not only win the primary but also for the coming general election. When Thompson loses he curtails campaign operations.
- Super Duper Tuesday: Rudy wraps up the nomination with wins in New York, New Jersey, California, Connecticut and Illinois.
The “LEAKED Powerpoint presentation” is no strategy memo – the strategy has been obvious form the start.

Mitt Romney Watch: Romney Health Care 2.0 – Another FLIP for MITT
Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney delivers his annual State of the Commonwealth, January 18, 2006. Massachusetts lawmakers overwhelmingly approved an ambitious health-care bill on Tuesday that would make it the first U.S. state to require nearly all residents to be insured or face penalties.
Is this another FLIP for MITT?
Apparently so……..
A far worse camel’s nose is the “universal” plan Mr. Romney championed in Massachusetts. As Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards put it, “If universal health care was good enough for Massachusetts, why isn’t it good enough for the rest of the country?”
It’s not an unfair question. Mr. Romney’s Bay State legacy is now praised by liberals as a prototype for national policy. That’s done a great deal to set back the kind of tax reform that he now espouses. The issue for GOP primary voters to consider is why he went in such a different direction in Boston. Granted, a mere Governor couldn’t restructure the federal tax code, and he was dealing with a far-left legislature. Yet his willingness to compromise in Massachusetts on core matters of principle, and then trumpet those statist policies as a “free-market” solution, raises questions about how far and easily he’d bend to a Democratic Congress.
Mr. Romney’s conversion to free-market health-care thinking is nonetheless welcome — assuming he believes it.
Flap has criticized the then Massachusetts Governor Romney for his “universal” and “socialized” plan. You know the one Hillary Clinton has praised and supported by Teddy Kennedy.
Sally Pipes over at National Review had this criticism.
Conservatives mostly understand the problems associated with the direct government provision of products and services — poor quality, shortages, high taxes, and shoddy service. What they must also understand is that forcing an individual to purchase health insurance is merely a rest stop on the journey to the same destination.
The best way to make health insurance available to the greatest number of people is to make sure that it can be provided at the lowest possible prices. Instead of abolishing the government regulations that have raised the cost of health insurance in Massachusetts, Governor Romney has proposed that the government should pay for the health insurance of the very people for whom the government made health insurance unaffordable.
But, wait, in Romney’s health care plan 2.0 he has eliminated the mandates he championed in Massachusetts.
The problem Mitt has had with his campaign is he simply is NOT CREDIBLE on the issues.
Health care is yet another in his flips and oddities.
And if this is not enough to convince ANY voter that Romney is NOT right for the Presidency, then check out his other inconsistencies and oddities:Scientology book one of his favorites
None of Mitt’s five adult sons had served in the military
