Uh… update please? That Red State post was wrong, and it was a commenter who said it would get lost, again based on the wrong date. They’ve corrected.

Flap, I’ve read you off and on for awhile, and honestly, you’re annoying this could-be-for-Rudy guy who is now pro-Thompson. You take too much glee in knocking other Republican candidates. You sound like a lefty ranting blogger when you do that. If Giuliani doesn’t get the nomination, you’ll have a LOT of backtracking to do.

This was a post at the time (look at the time stamp on the post) and subsequently in a conference call it was announced that Fred Thompson will announce on Thursday, September 6th.

I probably won’t post on this again tonight but I might.

A commenter may have said about the announcement of the announcement being lost in the Labor Day news traffic e.g. Larry Craig, end of summer, start of school, etc. but I am also stating this obvious fact.

If Rudy does NOT get the GOP nod, I don’t think it will make much differece what my opinions and/or comments will be because Hillary will trounce the GOP candidate.

I have said before that I could vote for Fred Thompson (as of today) but have some real problems with the rest of the field.

Frankly, I don’t think Thompson has a ghost of a chance to win. The race is between Rudy and Romney.

Flap – You are correct in your analysis and I firmly believe Rudy will be the nominee. Romney’s stunt with the cops breaking the speed limit and flashing lights in SC is not going to help the voter’s belief that he thinks he is better then everyone else.

Old Man Fred cannot even read a speech with flubbining it. If he gets in any debate, he will take so much time to comprehend the question, that his time will be up before he can answer. Never have seen someone who gives a speech get more applause before then during or after.

If Rudy had pulled Fred’s stunt, you can bet some social conservatives would have been all over Rudy for not getting in the race, but the same ones are supporting Fred and say it is okay. Hypocricy is alive and well as they also were against CFR and McCain but Thompson was a co-sponsor and it is alright because it is good old boy Fred.

His little stunt to get in after the debate is not playing well but when you are a poor speaker, you don’t want to be compared to the rest. He also looks very ill and I don’t buy the spin he lost weight working out with a trainer because his skin is hanging not tight from working out. Everything is a prop to Thompson including the hot dog he carried about the Minnesota State Fair after people making comments he didn’t eat in Iowa. He still didn’t eat, just carried a prop around.

Samantha you are correct in your observations.

Fred Thompson does not have the “fire in his belly” and is only running because his wife wants to be “First Lady.” And he DOES have health problems.

Rudy has done everything right in this campaign including taking the flack for his personal foibles and mis-steps.

The general election will be close against Hillary but Rudy WILL be the next President.
