Space Shuttle Discovery to Launch This Morning

The space shuttle Discovery sits on the launching pad on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007 at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla. ready for launch Tuesday. NASA kept close watch on the weather on both sides of the Atlantic on Monday as Discovery’s launch countdown entered its final hours with no major technical problems

NASA Engineers have found “clear ice” on shuttle umbilical cord. Hold

Update #3

T minus 20 minutes and counting as hold is lifted.

Update #4

T minus 9 minutes and holding. Launch proceeding.

11:05 AM: 25 minutes remain on T minus 9 minute hold; ice on bottom of orange booster rocket still a concern; weather is good.

11:30 AM: T minus 9 minutes and counting; launch countdown has resumed.

11:35 AM: T minus 3 minutes and counting.

11:38 AM: Lift off
