Rudy was profiled and interviewed by Brian Williams of NBC news tonight. The topics ranged from Rudy’s views on Pakistan, his work in the Reagan Justice Department, his involvement with the Reagan Assassination aftermath and his family, including his wife, Judith.
Flap will post some video excerpts when they become available on You Tube. In the meantime, the entire interview is here at the MSNBC site or directly here or by clicking the photo below.

Ron Paul = Ralph Nader of 2008 Presidential Race?

Maybe the RNC should send Ron Paul some money because John Podhertz is RIGHT.
Which brings to mind an interesting scenario for 2008: Could Ron Paul run an independent candidacy for president in 2008 on a libertarian/anti-war/anti-monetarist platform? At this moment, it seems plausible, especially if the Democratic party nominates Hillary Clinton, who is bizarrely considered a neocon hawk by the Left netroots.
And despite Paul’s nominal standing as a Republican — and it is nominal — wouldn’t his candidacy draw more from disaffected Democrats, as liberal Republican John Anderson’s 1980 third-party candidacy pulled voters away from Jimmy Carter and not from Ronald Reagan?
Works for me.
Ante up…….

Fred Thompson Watch: Self-Doubt in Becoming President

Trying to encourage his studio to hurry up so an interview could start, Carl Cameron of Fox News said into his microphone: “The next president of the United States has a schedule to keep.” Standing beside him, a deadpan Mr Thompson interjected: “And so do I.”
As some Thompson aides looked bemused and others cringed, a taken-aback Mr Cameron, Fox’s chief political correspondent, exclaimed: “You can’t do that kind of stuff!”
The self-deprecating quip said much about the former Tennessee senator’s candidacy.
NO FIRE IN THE BELLY to become President and he is plummeting in the polls.
Will McCain outlast Fred?

Schwarzenegger Orders Plan for California Budget Cuts
Graphic Courtesy of Jay D. Dyson
First elected to bring fiscal order to California’s budget crisis, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday ordered California state government to plan for 10% budget cuts.Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday ordered all state departments to draft plans for deep spending cuts after receiving word that California’s budget is plunging further into the red — largely because of the troubled housing market.
State officials have warned the governor that the likely deficit for next year has jumped from a few billion dollars to as much as $10 billion, threatening to wipe out the progress Schwarzenegger has claimed in getting the state’s accounts in order.
The Governator has FAILED to bring fiscal order to the California state budget. He has borrowed and spent and borrowed some more.
While the Governor has traveled across the globe spewing global warming initiatives (many of which codified in California law take effect well after Arnold leaves office), trade deals and other political fads, California’s structural deficit remains. So, how will Arnold respond?
By calling a Special Session of the California Legislature to spend an additional $14 billion a year for a health plan that includes illegal aliens.
Flap would recommend to the Governor that he pay attention to the job he was elected. But, it is far easier to cut the budget, blame someone (housing crisis, Bush, etc.) and return to the Hollywood social scene in three years.
Leadership is not Arnold’s forte.
Update:
Flap’s California State Senator Tom McClintock is NOT shocked. And, why should he be?

Ron Paul’s First Television Ad
Ron Paul’s campaign for the Presidency raised more than $ 4 million yesterday (or close to this figure) but will he be able to produce the ads that will help him win?
But, translating the funds into persuasive television ads may be beyond Paul’s grasp.
Here is Paul’s second television ad:

Both ads are amateurish attempts that are not ready for prime time politics.
Is it the MEDIUM that is FLAWED or the MESSAGE?
If the campaign can convert the “MONEY BOMB” into a coherent message then watch the polls and see if Ron Paul gets a BUMP. Otherwise, the money raised is for NOTHING.
Update:
Paul over at Powerline says it is the message that is flawed and should be greeted with a “cold shoulder.”
Agreed………
Update #2
Allah poo poohs the fundraising effort saying Ron Paul continues to lag way behind the top tier GOP candidates.
Stay tuned…….

Giuliani California Poll Watch: Rudy By 18 Points Over Second Place McCain
Republican presidential hopeful, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, second from left, signs a poster as his wife, Judith Giuliani, left, looks on in Manchester, N.H., Monday Nov. 5, 2007.
Survey USA California GOP Poll:
- Rudy – 34% (39%)
- McCain – 16% (13%)
- Romney – 15% (14%)
- Thompson – 13% (18%)
- Huckabee – 8%
Rudy is down five points as is Fred Thompson. The race is tightening but Rudy maintains a double digit lead. Huckabee (has he been to California?) is only 5 points behind Fred Thompson.
Also, in this poll, a generic question was asked about apportioning California’s Electoral votes rather than the current “Winner Take All” system.- Favor: 47%
- Against: 34%
Whether an initiative (there are two in circulation, here and here) makes it to the June 2008 to take effect in November is speculative at this time. Such a measure would be viewed to help the GOP nominee for President.

Iran and North Korea Targeted by American Nuclear Weapons
Iran’s Uranium Conversion Facilities at Isfahan. Bahrain’s crown prince has claimed that Iran is developing atomic weapons or the capability to do so — the first time an Arab state in the Gulf has openly accused Tehran of lying about its controversial nuclear drive.
Iran and North Korea’s choice for continued negotiations to rid the world of their nuclear ambitions with the United States.
The nuclear warheads resting on ballistic missiles in silos, circling the globe in submarines or carried—sometimes mistakenly—by aircraft hail from an era when the U.S. targeted its largest foe, the U.S.S.R. and, more recently, Russia and China. But a document newly obtained by the Washington, D.C.–based Federation of American Scientists (FAS)—founded by the creators of the original nuclear bomb in 1945 and monitoring the weapons ever since—reveals that in recent years the U.S. target list has expanded to include so-called “regional proliferators,” smaller states seeking to acquire such weapons of mass destruction.
The United States has options but MUST press these rogue regimes to accept peaceful resolution of non-proliferation.
Surrender is NOT an option for America.
