Republican presidential hopeful former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, top left, reads questions off a ‘How Did We Do?’ dining survey while visiting a Mel’s Drive-In restaurant in San Francisco, Monday, Dec. 10, 2007. Giuliani was gladhanding his way through Mel’s Drive-in when restaurant manager Armando Ruiz had pressed a ‘How Did We Do?’ survey it into Giuliani’s hand for an autograph. Realizing what he had, Giuliani invited himself to sit down with a group of diners. Slipping into their booth, he recited several questions.

Mike Huckabee Watch: Homosexuals “Miss The Mark”

Mike Huckabee in Florida today discussing his Flip-Flop on the Cuba Embargo
Remember Saturday’s revelation of a previous Huckabee statement on homsexuality?:
- “I feel homosexuality is an aberrant, unnatural, and sinful lifestyle, and we now know it can pose a dangerous public health risk…â€
In a presser after his endorsement by Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio, former Arkansas Governor and Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee again discussed homsexuality.
After the endorsement, reporters barraged Huckabee with questions regarding his opinion on homosexuality. “Let’s understand what sin means — sin means missing the mark,” he responded. “Missing the mark can mean missing the mark in any area. We’ve all missed the mark. … How we miss the mark is less important than we all miss the mark. The mark is that we have marriage — men and women, they marry, they create children, and they train their replacements and you have a future generation then that creates their replacements and trains them. That’s the mark. If we didn’t have that as the ideal, we wouldn’t have a civilization that was able to perpetuate.”
When asked if he would not allow a homosexual person to hold a position in a Huckabee administration, the former governor clearly stated that would not be the case. Huckabee said he had hired gay people to work for him in the past.
“If I did that, I couldn’t have anybody in my administration,” Huckabee said of hiring those who have sinned. “In fact, I think I couldn’t be in it because I missed the mark too … All of us have missed the mark; every one of us. How we missed it is different. But as it relates to our culture and civilization, again I make no apology that marriage is the proper relationship in which we create families.”
CNN Video from the presser is here.
And, what in the hell did that mean? NOTHING – it is double and triple speak. It is a Southern Baptist minister speaking in allegory.
What about the issues Governor?
- What abut domestic partnership laws for gay couples?
- What about adoption by gay parents?
- How about the “Dont’ Ask – Don’t Tell” homosexual policy in the military?
The American people do not wish to hear a sermon or your religious convictions but how you stand on the issues and your rationale for your positions. And, not some excuse that you have now changed your position like you have on illegal immigration, an AIDS quarantine and the Cuba Embargo.
Governor, for what do you stand? Do you have positions? What other positions have you now changed since you are running for the Presidency vs. Arkansas Governor?
By the way, why have you not released your old sermons?
Will you be embarassed by something you said?
In all the sermons Huckabee delivered before jumping into politics, he no doubt revealed beliefs and ideas that would be of interest to voters today. But his campaign, looking to attract evangelical Christian voters without alienating others, is not interested in seeing that material become part of the current political discourse. Huckabee the candidate is shunning Huckabee the pastor.
Flap leaves you with Mitt Romney’s new ad in Iowa that draws attenton to the Huckabee Flip Flop on illegal immigration:

Of course, Mitt has his own illegal alien inconsistencies so it is doubtful this will stick. But, then again, Fred Thompson may not let this issue go in South Carolina.
Stay tuned…….

Mike Huckabee Watch: Huckabee Flip Flops on Illegal Immigration and Cuba Embargo

Flap has to agree with Mark Halperin in that when necessary, former Arkansas Governor and Presidential candidate Huckabee simply acknowledges and repudiates his past statements and says he’s changed his views.
Look at this past weekend:
- Illegal immigration as depicted in the video above
- Homosexuality and AIDS Quarantine
Campaigning in Miami Monday with powerful Cuban American leaders, Mike Huckabee made this promise:
“As president, I commit that we would veto any legislation that would lift the embargo that is currently in place, because we must keep that pressure on.”
But that hard-line position on Cuba is an about-face for the former Arkansas governor.
In 2002, then-Gov. Huckabee wrote President Bush urging him to lift the embargo on Cuba, saying the U.S. position was harming agriculture and business interests, and providing Fidel Castro with a “convenient excuse for his own failed system of government.”
Huckabee admits he has now had a change of heart, saying he’s been educated by Cuban American leaders like Marco Rubio, the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, who endorsed his candidacy for president Monday.
This is the problem Flap has had with Mitt Romney: How do these Presidential contenders stand on the ISSUES?
They stand wherever it is POLITICALLY EXPEDIENT with their finger in the wind.
Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney will say and do anything to get themselves elected. They do not deserve the GOP nomination for President.
Update:
Mitt Romney will be running negative ads against Huckabee starting tomorrow in Iowa. One hypocrite on illegal immigration going after the other.
This will be a BIG GAMBLE for the Romney campaign. Iowa voters are renown for disliking negative contrast advertising.
Also, it is apparent that Romney’s Mormon speech last week has not provided the bump in the polls Mitt was looking for in Iowa.

Mike Huckabee Watch: My Entry into Politics – “Getting Inside the Dragon’s Belly”
Matt Drudge has this link and graphic up on his site this morning.
The Money Quotes from Mike Huckabee:
- “The reason we have so much government is because we have so much broken humanity,” he said. “And the reason we have so much broken humanity is because sin reigns in the hearts and lives of human beings instead of the Savior.”
- “Government knows it does not have the answer, but it’s arrogant and acts as though it does… “Church does have the answer but will cowardly deny that it does and wonder when the world will be changed.”
- “I’m often asked why taxes are so high and government is so big. It’s because the faith we have in local churches has become so small. If we’d been doing what we should have — giving a dime from every dollar to help the widows, the orphans and the poor — we now wouldn’t be giving nearly 50 cents of every dollar to a government that’s doing … what we should have been doing all along.”
- “I didn’t get into politics because I thought government had a better answer. I got into politics because I knew government didn’t have the real answers, that the real answers lie in accepting Jesus Christ into our lives.”
- “I hope we answer the alarm clock and take this nation back for Christ.”
I am sorry folks but I do not want to elect a Southern Baptist Pastor in Chief. Mike Huckabee although leading in some early state polls will be a disaster for the GOP in a general election contest against Hillary or Obama.
Mike Huckabee may be a good man but will NOT be Flap’s choice for President or Vice President for that matter.
Also, note that the book Mormonism Unmasked: Confronting the Contradictions Between Mormon Beliefs and True Christianity was also passed out to reporters at Huckabee event.
Does the GOP REALLY want to divide itself with debating religious doctrine differences?
Update:
Soren Dayton and Erick Erickson are both as fed up as Flap but perhaps for different reasons. Let’s deal with political issues and leave the religious and moral superiority ones to the churches. There is NO problem researching Mike Huckabee’s record and his speeches.
Huckabee’s views are out of the majority opinion of American voters on a number of issues. So?
Will voters punish him at the polls? It remains to be seen.
The main problem is the GOP invited the Evangelical Christians into the tent and now have to “DEAL” with them and one of THEIR OWN to boot.
Flap wants to hear the GOP candidates discuss political issues regarding homosexuality civil rights, gay marriage and AIDS policy. Flap does not want to hear a biblical, religious or moral discussion on homosexuality, its origins and/or causes.
Stay tuned……

Day By Day by Chris Muir December 10, 2007
Four top members of Congress, including now-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, got a close look at CIA overseas detention sites and interrogation techniques in September 2002 and offered no challenge to their legitimacy, according to a news article out Sunday.
Hill Briefed on Waterboarding in 2002
In September 2002, four members of Congress met in secret for a first look at a unique CIA program designed to wring vital information from reticent terrorism suspects in U.S. custody. For more than an hour, the bipartisan group, which included current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was given a virtual tour of the CIA’s overseas detention sites and the harsh techniques interrogators had devised to try to make their prisoners talk.
Among the techniques described, said two officials present, was waterboarding, a practice that years later would be condemned as torture by Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill. But on that day, no objections were raised. Instead, at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder, two U.S. officials said.
You can run but you cannot hide in NEW MEDIA today.
