Rudy Giuliani California Poll Watch: Rudy Holding Steady in The Golden State

Rudy Giuliani addressing the press in Santa Monica, California, December 11, 2007. Giuliani is answering a question from a reporter with the Los Angeles Times about his position on the minimum wage and corporate tax rates.

In the latest California PPIC poll Rudy Giuliani continues to lead Mitt Romney by nine points.

 • Rudy 24% (22%, September 4 thru 11)
 • Mitt Romney 15% (16%)
 • Mike Huckabee 12% (2%)
 • John McCain 11% (15%)
 • Fred Thompson 10% (16%)
 • Duncan Hunter 3% (3%)
 • Ron Paul 3% (NA)
 • Tom Tancredo 3% (2%)
 • Don’t Know 17% (20%)

Survey of 346 likely Republican primary voters was conducted November 27 – December 4. The margin of error is +/- 5 percentage points.

This is a small sampling and the poll was taken before the full effects of the Huckaboom. If any conclusions can be drawn it is Huckabee’s surge is at the expense of John McCain and Fred Thompson.

Stay tuned as Flap heads to Indianapolis from Phoenix

Update:

Sorry but my lay over in Phoenix was short and I had to run to Starbucks before boarding. I have updated the post now with video from Tuesday afternoon when Giuliani had a news presser in Santa Monica. The question in this video is one immediately following Flap’s question.
Rudy has held steady in California and increased his lead over Mitt Romney by two points (within the margin of error). Mike Huckabee’s rise is noteworthy and it remains to be seen if Huckabee can challenge Romney for second place.  Note the date of the poll.
Flap has not seen nor heard of ANY campaign organization in California for Huckabee. Romney has made several campaign swings through the state and has organizational boots on the ground.

Fred Thompson does have the endorsement of Flap’s California State Senator Tom McClintock (an inportant endorsement) and has made several fundraising trips to Orange County but Flap has not seen too much of the candidate – outside re-runs of Law and Order (nahhh, I even think they took those off the air).

The Mayor continues in good shape in California and should be able to win a majority of GOP delegates on February 5th.
