Rudy Giuliani Watch: Dead Heat in Florida

Republican presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani addresses supporters during a campaign stop at the Village Fish Market & Restaurant in Punta Gorda, Florida January 14, 2008.

The bloom may be off the John McCain New Hampshire bump. In the latest Florida Survery USA GOP poll there is a four way tie – a dead heat.

• John McCain 25% (27%)
• Rudy Giuliani 23% (19%)
• Mike Huckabee 18% (17%)
• Mitt Romney 18% (17%)
• Fred Thompson 9% (8%)
• Ron Paul 4% (5%)
• Undecided 3% (5%)

Survey of 542 likely Republican primary voters was conducted January 11-13. The margin of error is +/- 4.3 percentage points. Results from the poll conducted January 9-10 are in parentheses. H/t Race42008

**********

Note that Rudy Giuliani (who has surged four points in a week) started his full court press on Florida just the other day and in addition he has a very well organized absentee ballot and now (beginning today) early voting GOTV program.

Also, note that no other GOP candidate has invested as much time and resources to Florida. No one is running paid media in the state.
Rudy has apparently reversed his slide in the Florida polls and now is contesting the state with vigor.

John McCain Watch: Angry and Booed in Michigan

Michigan Crowd Boos McCain on Illegal Immigration

Flap has mentioned that John McCain’s temper is legendary in politics. He lets it show in Michigan yesterday when someone dare questions his Shamnesty proposal on illegal immigration. In fact, McCain was booed.

Certainly we can show Senator McCain respect for his service to this country but his policy on illegal immigration sucks and he is wrong on many issues including taxes.

Senator, you can either respect differences of opinion and debate them intelligently or you can continue to be an intolerant, indignant crank.

When Will Rudy Giuliani Take the Gloves Off?

Republican presidential hopefulm Rudy Giuliani speaks to retirees at the Shell Point Retirement Community Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in Fort Myers, Fla.

With Rudy’s decline in poll after poll, supporters are asking: Rudy, when will you take the gloves off?

When will you go on offense against your GOP opponents?
Brent Seaborn, chief campaign strategist:

“Rudy is as tough a campaigner as anybody in this race, when the time is right, I think we will see him decide it’s time to draw a bit more of a contrast between John McCain or frankly any of the opponents that comes into the state. For the most part, we have been in the fortunate position that a lot of the attacks have not been directed our way…I think we are happy that we are not being attacked….so far the mayor feels like the field has been pretty civil for him and Ithink he respects that and he would like it to remain that way.”

“When the time is right, Rudy will fight as hard as anybody. I don’t think anybody else has quite the fighting or boxing training that Rudy has. And I think you’ll see that come out when he has to take the gloves off….when the circus comes to town, we will see what its like.”

Flap will bet Wednesday morning after the Michigan primary election. But, he might wait until after South Carolina and Nevada sort the race out on Saturday.

If Rudy is successful then Seaborn will be hailed as a genius. If not, then he will be the goat and it will have been too late for Rudy’s rope-a-dope to be effective.

California GOP Race Tightens – Now a Dead Heat

A supporter of Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani stands outside of a polling station in Coral Gables, Fla. where early voting began Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, two weeks before Election Day in Florida. Democratic and Republican presidential races are on the ballot, as well as a proposal designed to cut property taxes.

A New CNN, Politico and Los Angeles Times poll has the California race for the GOP nominaton for President in a DEAD HEAT.

• McCain – 20%
• Romney – 16%
• Giuliani – 14%
• Huckabee – 13%
• Paul – 8%
• Thompson – 6%

The results for all four were within the poll’s margin of error.

Survey was conducted Jan 11-13 of 255 likely Republican primary voters with a 6% MoE. H/T Race42008

The sample size is very small in this survey:

The poll interviewed 1,054 registered voters, including 384 likely to vote in the Democratic primary and 255 Republican likely voters. The margin of sampling error was 5 points among likely voters in the Democratic primary and 6 points among Republican likely voters.

And, the election is determined by a plurality in each Congressional District.

The L.A. Times/CNN/Politico poll, conducted Jan. 11 to 13 by Opinion Research Corporation, demonstrated the extreme fluidity of the race, particularly on the Republican side. Six in ten Republicans said they might change candidates in the next three weeks. Among Democrats, four in ten were waffling.

California’s GOP delegates are up for grabs.

Rudy Giuliani Watch: New Nevada Poll Numbers Show Tight Race

Congressman and Rudy Giuliani Homeland Security Advisor Peter King talked with Fox News’s Bret Baier about Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s national campaign strategy. Congressman King explained that Rudy’s commitment to fighting terror and his plan for the largest tax cut in American history have him well positioned to capture the Republican nomination.

New Poll numbers in Nevada show a statistical tie with John McCain for the lead in Nevada.

Might Nevada be Rudy’s first win?

Jon Voight Endorses Rudy Giuliani

Academy Award winning actor, Jon Voight

From the press release:

The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Committee today announced that accomplished actor Jon Voight has endorsed Rudy Giuliani for President of the United States and will campaign on his behalf in both Florida and California later this month.

Voight, who earned both an Oscar and Golden Globe for his role as a quadriplegic Vietnam Veteran in the 1978 movie “Coming Home” and numerous nominations for other roles, has been a powerful presence on the silver screen for almost four decades.

“America is approaching one of its most important elections in history and we must elect a leader with the strength and resolve of Rudy Giuliani,” said Voight. “His commitment to keeping our military strong and his track record of transforming New York makes him the right man at the right time for our country.”

“I am honored to have Jon Voight’s help on the campaign trail,” said Mayor Giuliani. “Our shared vision of maintaining America’s strength and providing the focus for the challenges we face is one that is shared by countless others who are supporting our campaign.”

A good get for the Mayor. Hopefully, the campaign will put Voight in the recording studio as quickly as they can.

Flap can hear the radio ads now.

Why John McCain CANNOT Be the GOP Nominee Part Two

Hugh Hewitt has another run down on McCain’s policy and why he should not be the GOP nominee:

• Voted against the Bush tax cuts, one of only two Republicans to do so
• Twice authored the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill with its Z Visas and path to citizenship
• Has done nothing to accelerate the construction of the border fence
• Stands behind McCain-Feingold even after the Supreme Court has struck down portions of it as unconstitutional
• Defends the Gang of 14 even though a long line of vacancies on the courts of appeal existed at the end of 1006 (and has only gotten longer in 2007)
• Worked with Lindsey Graham to destroy the GOP’s agenda in September of 2006 by grandstanding over the interrogation and treatment of terrorists bill
• Opposed drilling in ANWR
• Opposed the Federal Marriage Amendment, twice
• Advocates a massive energy tax

Why is John McCain the presidential candidate Democrats FEAR worship the WORST best?

Because John McCain is more like the Democrats than anyone other GOP candidate – bar none. And, Flap is not the ONLY one who feels this way.
Michigan and South Carolina voters, stand up and vote for someone other than John McCain.

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Fighting for Florida

Republican presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani walks in part of The Three Kings Parade route in the Little Havana section of Miami Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, as he continues to campaign in Florida.

With the latest Florida Quinnipiac poll showing a statistical tie between four GOP candidates, Rudy is fighting for every vote in Florida. Indeed, Florida has been his firewall against declining national poll numbers.

Tomorrow’s Michigan primary election results will clarify the race and could lead to fewer candidates or scramble this “wide open” race even more.

In the meantime, Rudy will continue his bus tour stumping for votes in Florida.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

John McCain receives no scrutiny by the MSM. What a SHOCKA! He is the media darling because he is a “MAVERICK.”

Actually, John McCain is a Democrat who supports big government and more taxes. He is like his pal, Joe Lieberman – a pro-war Hawk Democrat. Didn’t he once flirt with leaving the GOP?
The media war on Civil Rights between Obama and Hillary Clinton is even more interesting.

Obama’s father (the black genes) was from Africa who did not live here much and to my knowledge participate in the Civil Right’s movement and his mother is white.

Hillary’s husband, former President Bill, is touted by some as the nation’s first “Black” President.

A little more daylight needs to be shown on this candidates by the blogosphere, me thinks.
