The Phony Mitt Romney Campaign

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, right, and his wife Ann wave after Romney made a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference that he is dropping out of the Presidential race on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, in Washington.

Howard Fineman of Newsweek BURIES Mitt Romney for 2008 and future Presidential campaigns.

    The KEY GRAPH:

The quality of being genuine is hard to convey, and deciding who should be president based solely on that basis can lead to disaster; you need brains and an ability to go with the flow as well. But voters know a phony above all and Romney came off as one from the get-go. Over the last decade he had changed his views in a rightward direction on so many issues to suit what he thought he needed to win the GOP nomination that he ended up standing for nothing but his own ambition.

Flap agrees if Mitt had run as the moderate businessman who he really is, his candidacy might have been an easier sell. But, his pandering to the pro-life RIGHT was a disaster. GOP Evangelicals would NEVER accept his Mormonism either – no matter what he did to mollify them.

Mitt Romney is done. There is NO HOPE for a future campaign for the Presidency no matter what talk radio pundits like Hugh Hewitt say.

Voters know an ambitious phony when they see one.

    Bye Bye Mitt.

John McCain Wraps Up Nomination – When Does He Go After Obama?

Republican presidential hopeful, Sen. John McCain, R- Ariz., gestures during a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, in Washington. McCain’s rival for the Republican nomination, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, pulled out of the race Thursday during an earlier speech at CPAC.

With Mitt Romney’s suspension of his campaign today, John McCain becomes the presumptive nominee for the GOP. Flap supposes GOP Party leader pressure will be applied to Mike Huckabee who will also exit soon – stage right.

There is little doubt that McCain would run strongest against Hillary Clinton.

    Why, you ask?

It would be easier to re-unite the GOP, fundraise and appeal to centrist independent voters because Hillary is viewed as a left-wing partisan.

So, does McCain immediately start with OPPO (Opposition Research) pieces against Barack? How does McCain intercede in the TIED Democrat race without appearing too heavy handed.

    Stay tuned…….

Mitt Romney – “An Ineffective Candidate”

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney pauses during a speech before the Conservative Political Action Conference, Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, in Washington, where he announced he was suspending his faltering presidential campaign.

Take the quote with a grain of salt because it comes from Barack Obama but the truth is Mitt Romney would have NEVER been able to win a general election race against Obama or Hillary.

Mitt Romney Watch: Jay Garrity Did NOT Impersonate State Trooper in Phone Call

    romneyjune22aweb

    Jay Garrity

You remember the story about former Romney Director of Operations, Jay Garrity.

Well, it turns out he has been vindicated.

Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said Wednesday he has no plans to bring criminal charges against Jay Garrity, a former top aide to Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney who was accused last year of impersonating a police officer during a rambling telephone call.

“An extensive review of phone records, financial transactions and other documents has provided no evidence that Mr. Garrity placed that call,” said a statement issued by Conley spokesman Jake Wark. “In fact, evidence points away from him.”

    Garrity in a statement:

“I am grateful to have the last sensational allegation against me proven wrong, and to have my reputation restored. I appreciate the support of friends and political adversaries alike who know my good character. I have always worked with honor and integrity and it was never my intention to be disrespectful to anyone.”

No word as to whether Garrity will resume duties with Mitt Romney since he suspended his Presidential campaign today.

Why is Mitt Romney Not Withdrawing from the GOP Presidential Race?

    *****Update*****

    Romney leaves Presidential race

Guess his wife was tired of spending all of their cash on senseless ads and a cadre of syncophants. Note that he will suspend his campaign and not withdraw. And, no Mitt, you are NOT Ronald Reagan.

McCain campaign TV Ad Trust: Mitt Romney was against Ronald Reagan before he was for him.

Why is Mitt Romney sticking around the GOP Presidential race? Romney faces very long odds in securing the nomination.

Mitt Romney, who prides himself on “wallowing in the data” before making tough decisions, now confronts an unforgiving mathematical landscape of delegate counts, polls, and popular vote tallies that suggest the odds are overwhelmingly against his presidential bid.

With 499 total delegates up for grabs through March 4, Romney would have to win more than 80 percent of them to catch McCain, assuming the Arizona senator won none. And, even if Huckabee won them all, he would still trail McCain. Dividing the total among the three candidates makes over taking the front-runner more difficult still.

While Romney hopes to do well in several of the states voting over the next month, his chances of drawing even with McCain appear slim because the vast majority of the delegates will be awarded in states without winner-take-all contests, forcing the candidates to split their winnings. In addition, moderate Republican electorates in some of the states also appear to favor McCain.

So, why is Romney sticking around?

Believe it or not, Romney fancies himself as Ronald Reagan in 1976. Hugh Hewitt channels the spin absurdity.

If Romney wants to waste his money and that of his remaining donors chasing an impossible dream or to set himself up for a later run while sabotaging GOP prospects this Fall, then his image of a do anything and say anything to get himself elected pol will be reinforced. Sort of self-defeating, wouldn’t one say?

For someone who has never been a conservative partisan you sure know how to pay for garner their support.

Day By Day by Chris Muir February 7, 2008

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Flap has expressed his reservations regarding Senator MCCain over the past year as I supported Rudy Giuliani for President. Where was all of the outrage from the RIGHT when Rudy was cratering in the December 2007 polls and Fred Thompson was left moribund and penniless in his campaign?

All of this outrage seems to derive not from Miuke Huckabee and his Evangelical Christian supporters but from Mitt Romney and his Mormon minions. To think that the liberal governing flip-flopping Romney can rebirth himself and re-emerge as a conservative challenge to McCain is ludicrous.

Flap supposes all of that Romney money floating around and his desperation to get some of his hard earned coin back (after wasting some $10 million on assinine ads in California) is shading all of this outrage in the right blogosphere and at CPAC.

So much for a “BIG TENT” GOP and a legitimate discussion of candidates and their issues. The righty blogs, including Chris Muir’s cartoon above are becoming as lock step as the MSM.

    What a shame.

    Update:

NZ Bear has a CPAC blog feed up here.
