Fred Thompson,  John McCain,  President 2008

Fred Thompson Endorses John McCain for President

Fred Thompson yesterday afternoon endorsed John McCain for President. A little late since Rudy Giuliani endorsed McCain immediately after he withdrew but slow and safe Fred has never been that quick on the draw.

Fred will have to be on the short list for the Vice Presidency. Thompson would be a safe mainstream choice which would appease the conservative and southern base of the GOP.

Flap bets Thompson may very well be the next Vice President.

Thompson as the next VP? Well let’s see, that ticket would consist of two aging men ( who look older than their chronological age ) who have cancer. Not a winning combination in my book.

This doesn’t even factor in Thompson’s either objection to or inabiltiy to engage in vigorous campaigning.

I am still holding out for Rudy.

Yes, Thompson would be better than the Huckster or Romney. In fact, if Romney were on the ticket, I would not vote for President in November.

Not going to be Thompson — too old and sickly looking plus it took him forever to endorse Sen McCain. The man is one of the most boring speakers in the GOP, with no energy, and McCain needs someone dynamic with a lot of energy.

Senator Coburn comes to mind. His speech to CPAC introducing McCain was one of the best speeches at CPAC and he is a straight shooter. Gov Rick Perry just called on Huckabee to withdraw from the race so you can put him on the list as well.

    Samantha,

On reflection I tend to agree. But, Thompson might be a compromise to the far right.

If Obama is the Dems nominee I would think Coburn or Perry would definitely fit the bill.

You want Energy, then you need Rudy!

    My guy all along! 🙂

I’m voting for McCain no matter what..

Hillary or Obama would be a disaster.
