John McCain Watch: Bush Endorses McCain for President

U.S. President George W. Bush shakes hands with Republican Presidential candidate John McCain to the White House Rose Garden in Washington, March 5, 2008. McCain secured his party’s nomination on March 4.

After wrapping up the Republican nomination for President yesterday, Senator John McCain received the endorsement of GOP President George W. Bush at the White House today.

“John showed incredible courage, strength of character and perseverance in order to get to this moment and that’s exactly what we need in a president — somebody who can handle the tough decisions, somebody who won’t flinch in the face of danger,” Bush said, appearing with McCain in the Rose Garden.

The race for the Presidency is on.

How much of a role the President will have in John McCain’s campaign is anyone’s guess due to the President’s very low poll numbers. Bush will help some.

But, except for some fundraising in red states, Flap does not expect to see W’s face at many McCain events.
