Barack Obama Watch: Scorn Meets Hillary’s Vice President Hint

obamamarch10aweb

Remember last week when Hillary suggested that Obama accept the Vice President spot on HER ticket? And, we received a hint at what Obama was thinking when his surrogate, former Democrat Senate Majority leader Tom Daschle said the following on Sunday’s Meet The Press:

“Well, Tim, it’s really a rare occurrence, maybe the first time in history, that the person who’s running number two would offer the person who’s running number one the number two position. What Barack has said is that’s way premature. He doesn’t have any interest in being vice president. He’s going to be our presidential nominee.”

Senator Obama has been MORE direct today.

The Money Quotes:

  • “I don’t understand. If I am not ready, why do you think I would be such a great vice president?” Obama asked the crowd, which gave him a standing ovation during his defense. “I don’t understand.”
  • “You can’t say he is not ready on day one, then you want him to be your vice president,” Obama continued. “I just want everybody to absolutely clear: I am not running for vice president. I am running to be President of the United States of America.”

From the tone of this speech, Flap does NOT think Obama will be asking Hillary to be on HIS ticket.

If Barack wins the nomination and does not at least offer the V.P. position to Hillary there certainly will be a political backlash as he will be seen as someone who holds a grudge and this never plays out well. Also, depending on the day, approx. half the dems out there are Hillary supporters and he needs them whether he likes it or not if he wants to have a chance in his dogfight with McCain. I think hillary will accept his invitation to be V.P. if it is ofered. However, the bigger question is will Barack accept the V.P. poistion if he DOES come in 2nd if doing so was in the best interests of the Party? This has yet to be seen but if I had to guess it would be NO. I think Barack’s ego and pride would prevent him from ‘serving the nation’ in a capacity that could truely ‘serve the nation’ if it was not in his personal best interests to do so. Words of inspiration are meant for ‘OTHERS’ to ‘selflessly aspire in service to others’ but not for him. No matter the putcome it’ll be interesting to see if Barack proves me wrong. But until he does I’ll have little faith that Barack is not just another politician with a whole lot of pride and a lot more sparkle.

I wonder if Hillary would accept VP under Obama? I doubt it especially since the New York Governorship will be opening up. Also, I doubt Obama would EVER offer it to her.

Obama would not give up his safe Illinois Senate position to run with Hillary because Bill Clinton would be the REAL VP anyway.

Hillary and Obama will do what is best for themselves and not the Democrat Party.
