President 2008,  Rudy Giuliani

Rudy Giuliani Campaigns for John McCain in Pennsylvania

Rudy Giuliani talks to reporters about the differences between John McCain and Democrat opponents, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama

Rudy’s BACK – campaigning for John McCain, the GOP nominee. Hizzoner was in Pennsylvania today headlining a $1,000 a plate fundraisier.

With McCain called back to Washington to vote in the Senate, Rudy Giuliani pitched in and headlined a $1,000-a-plate luncheon for the Arizona senator, and said he believed the Republicans can win Pennsylvania.

“I would consider this for John a very doable state, a state he could win” Giuliani told reporters after the luncheon. “Someone like John McCain that has outreach to independent and to Democratic voters, this is a perfect state for him.” (Indeed, a recent Pennsylvania poll shows McCain leading both Clinton and Obama in the Keystone State.)

Good to see the Mayor on the campaign trail again.

So, what is in Giuliani’s future?

  1. Vice President
  2. Attorney General of the United States
  3. Governor of New York in 2010
  4. Private attorney and busninessman

Number 4 for now but either of the previous three could be in the cards.

Although he didn’t rule it out, Giuliani said he wasn’t thinking about running for governor himself in 2010. “I’m not considering running for anything right now,” he said. “I’m just back in my law firm, back in business, getting used to my private life, and it’s quote enjoyable. So I’m not thinking about running for anything right now.”

Flap plans to see Rudy on the stump for the GOP alot this spring, summer and fall. Will he have a speech at the GOP convention?

How about a speech nominating Senator McCain?

Go Rudy. It is great to see him again. I wish McCain would put him on the ticket, so Rudy would be in place to run for president if McCain is elected and serves one term. However, it is more likely that Rudy would be offered the AG position should McCain wins.

    Dennis,

Do you think Spitzer’s scandal will help attenuate some of Rudy’s personal baggage for a Presidential re-run?

Or does this make any difference since he will probably finish his career as AG or New York Governor?

    • Dennis

Rudy’s “personal baggage” pales in comparison to Spitzer’s ehtical, moral and possible criminal problems. I think Spitzer helps Rudy in the context of the national political scene, and of course in the State of New York.

Do you think McCain is considering Rudy for VP? Some pundits are now pushing Tom Ridge ( I was a fan but thought he did a poor job at Homeland Security).

I assume you caught the gist of Hannity’s recent interview of Romney in which the phony ass said he would accept a VP slot with McCain. If McCain chooses Romney ( which I seriously doubt ) I will stay home Election Day.

McCain would choose Rudy over Romney any day of the week. But, I think McCain is sensitive of his age and the party may be best served with a younger VP with executive experience like Pawlenty or Sanford.

Ridge might be OK (no threat to run for the Presidency in 4 years) but isn’t he pro-choice?

And, everything depends upon who wins the battle between HRC and BHO. If they continue with an atttack a day, McCain may walk into the Oval office with a 40 plus state victory.

McCain will not choose Romney and Mitt looked pathetic on Hannity’s show.

Thanks for the impression of the Romney interview. He looks pathetic in every interview; that is one reason, among many, as to why I can’t watch him regardless of the situation.
