Hillary Clinton Watch: I Never Said It

hillaryI-neversaidit

Hillary Clinton today denied that she told Governor Bill Richardson, D-N.M., that her Democratic nomination rival, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., “cannot win” a general election against presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

Why, of course, she will deny it after the Drudge headline from yesterday and the story is out.

Hillary-Obama-cannot-win

And, she is right that her candidacy matches up better than Obama.

In the meantime, the GOP is licking its chops to run against Barack Obama.

    Flap,

In case you didn’t know, Rudy will be with Sean Hannity on Fox News this evening ( April 3 ).

    Dennis,

Wasn’t Rudy great on Hannity and Commie?

He did not fall over to be appointed VP although he would probably make the best candidate. Contrast his appearance with Mitt Romney who was a lapdog.

I do not think Rudy will be McCain’s pick for VP but if his criteria is someone who could take over immediately there is no better one qualified.

It was so great to see Rudy. These kind of appearances make his failure to win the nomination even more puzzling. Frankly, I will never fully understand what happened.

Yes, he handled the VP question with great class. I understand that McCain has a list of 20 for the VP slot. He could no better than to select Rudy. I hope you are wrong in your prediciton.

Guiliani’s gambit was always going to be a big gamble. If he had got Florida, story would have been completely different. But if you must know, I have a couple of friends in New Hampshire, bloggers basically, who made it very clear that Rudy and his entire staff were on a different Planet altogether, with absolutely no connection to voters on the ground in the early states even before he had decided to skip the state, so it was always going to be a hard sell.

      Ling,

I tend to agree with you about Rudy and New Hampshire. Rather than treating the primary as “national”, Rudy should have concentrated on New Hampshire. At one point he grew even with Romney, but did not follow up. New Hampshire was made for Rudy. He could have carried the state with the right kind of effort, and that victory would have propelled him to later victories.

No one will ever convince me that McCain was a more qualified and compelling candidate than Rudy.

This is why the GOP Presidential primary system needs an overhaul to regional elected primary elections.

Why should the Iowa caucuses and a small state like New Hampshire dictate a national GOP nominee.

McCain had the advantage in New Hampshire having run there previously and with independent voters being able to vote in the GOP primary.

The pundits early on said Rudy had no chance to win and ultimately were proven correct.
